I'm sorry our Canadian's fellows, this is not personal, it's just business. All this year the USA economy has been decreased because we buy (importing) more goods than selling (exporting). We are no in good shape economically to support other countries' economies. We need companies to come back to produce in the USA and those extra charges are an incentive to start producing again in the USA. After our economy is better, we can make new deals. \nAbout Fentanyl, it is funny that he said that it was all good and after that, saying just in the last months implemented all kinds of security measures. Plus, he just stated that he's smart enough to suggest that Trump just put a 25% tax on Canadian goods for Americans but he also thinks that you are dumb enough not to realize that he just put a 25% tax on Canadians for American goods. Trudeau basically created the situation for these tariffs (open border to let anyone come here). He loves this as he gets to take the apparent moral high ground for the first time in his life and wants this speech to be the way he is remembered rather than years of failing Canada. So will we do the same? This would devastate us, achieving their goals.\n\n Canadians are already fighting back without the government making things worse. People are boycotting U.S. goods en masse and cancelling travel plans, etc. and this is already having a strong effect.\n\n Some say turn off the electricity and oil, but who will pay price? It will be the businesses and employees, not the politicians who are now trying to act tough. If we want this to turn into a real kinetic war, then turning off the taps may do it. \n\n We have seen countless times where politicians tell us what we want to hear, making us think they are heading is a certain direction, only to find they do the exact opposite. Trump and MAGAism won't last for ever. The real problem is that the longer this madness continues, the longer the US will take to get back it's power and influence. The rest of the world understands that the problem comes from an incapable and illiterate leader but it also understands that this could happen again. America might take decades to regain trust. The longer MAGA dominates the American people then the longer it will take America to rise back to it's former status. It is so very tragic. Now with 20% tariffs on China , the iPhone full import price $700 (sale price). is taxed(tariffs) x 20% = $140. Trump wants 20% corporate rate extended and ultimate 15% corporate rate. Most all the overseas US mfg might come home to moma. \nI would advise Trump to selectively wave tariffs on some items like lumber from Canada and food from mexico. As for oil from Canada I think Trump will let Chevron develop and buy heavy oil from Venezuela. If not might have to wave/reduce tariffs on Canadian diluted bitumen oil.
