I left Canada last month, sold everything, Vancouver/North Vancouver...lived here for 20 years. Back to Germany where family is and moving to Portugal next within the few months. BC is just not affordable anymore, specially if you have kids. I love Canada, financially not doable tho, at least not for a single mom...tuition is a thing too... don't want to rent forever either...

y'all, if you arent german or sth similiar looking, dont plan to ever move to germany. Racism is next lvl in Europe, and not worth it.

Sorry but Germany is a completely unfriendly country for immigrants. They do not even allow you to use your own driving licence and require you to apply for a new one like you are 17 years old. They don't trust you! \n\nYou then start your driving license process but they cannot arrange an exam date for you, because they lack examiners. They allow you to apply to a driving school in your own neighborhood only and you cannot apply to another one even in the next neighborhood a few kilometers away from your home. So if you live in the city center you are dead, you cannot find an empty exam slot. This is my second year in Germany, the officers and my driving schools have made 2 mistakes and 1 cancellation throughout my process and I could not have my practical exam yet after 10 months of endeavour. If I fail I should wait for another 3 months to find a new exam date! This is insane. \n\nSorry but how dare you can steal my so precious time? If you want skilled workers you should treat them as skilled workers not as 17 years old teens.

I have 3 job intviews woth german companies, job ad in English communication in English and the reason to say no is ONLY BECAUSE Idont speak German qt c1 level. Germany rejet people due to this and then deal with chaos such as DB. Expect inefficiency, problems across all your services in next 5 years just caise of your german language proficiency requirement

I’m a student that’s just started their studies in Berlin, a multicultural city (by Germany’s standards), and I already don’t see myself staying here long term enough to want to work let alone settle down here. This is despite the fact that I’ve already invested a lot of time learning the language to C1 level. I can already tell it’s going to be a depressing next few years until my degree ends.

English is lingua franca. All cross border businesses are conducted in English. One recommendation for Germany is to make English as their official language next to German, this step will attract a lot of skilled workers.

One year ago i moved to germany from Italy as a doctor and i already wanna leave. Because the taxes are very high half of my salary goes to the state and the service quality is relatively bad for everything i need an appointment and wait for weeks to get it done.more problematic is the discrimination. Even tho my qualifications are higher than an average german doctor i dont get treated equally i dont get what my colleges get. I am here in Germany for almost 3years & already GuKP, but still I feel not welcome here specially I transferred to new Hospital to work. Taxes at expenses were high. In fact I had recently experienced bullying from my Colleague in my workplace in hospital. I hope my complaint will be raised on the management & make an action about it. I emigrated to the USA in 1978 and returned to Canada in 1998 to care for my dementia stricken mother and MS stricken sister. By 2001 both my mother and sister had deteriorated to having to be institutionalized. In 1998 I had found Canada wasn't Canada anymore. It felt strange, a woke-infected hellhole in my judgement then. I had a girl friend who lived in France so my next destination was Paris. I am now retired and live in Germany and feel perfectly at home. The cost of living and health services are both excellent. Most of Europe is a train ride or a short flight away.

Germany created their own problem in their flawed, points-based model of their government pension system. It is like we are paying backwards, where our money earned right now is taken away from us to pay for the pensions of retired people who earned those rights to a government pension years or decades ago during their working lives. We are then given points, with the hope that the next generations one day pay for our own pensions. See the problem?\n\nInstead, people’s hard earned monthly payments towards pension could have instead have been invested for them into actively-managed portfolios of bonds, equities and commodities. Thereby, each and every person currently on pension could have enjoyed the benefits of decades of compounding growth!\n\nNow we are here, as the video says, 2 workers are needed to cover the pension of 1 retired person. This is absolutely absurd and they will never be able to attract 400,000 new skilled workers every year with the current issues highlighted in this video.\n\nMy best advice - when you are working in Germany, seriously think about it to save and invest a portion of your net income and prepare yourself for a future where you cannot solely rely on your German pension!

I came to Berlin, Germany ?? from India with my family in 2021 on EU Blue card. I work here as a Software Engineer and last month I got my PR. Below are my observations \n1) Not expat friendly at all - Most of Govt departments doesn’t want to speak English at all making us feel we are useless. Esp at initial level it is next to impossible \n2) Taxes are too high I have lots of friends in Netherlands in HSM visa and they have 30 percent off in total salary meaning taxes are charged on remaining 70 percent.\n3) Difficult to buy home in Germany ?? whereas in Netherlands it is super easy and banks easily give 100 percent mortgage. Many friends of mine took their own house on the very first year and their emi is almost equivalent to the rent.\n4) Openess to English is still an issue if Germany ?? needs more skilled workers which I feel they desperately need it they would need to be more open towards English which is a common linked language.\n5) People are not at all friendly and avoid small talks.

More skilled labors will be leaving Germany. My brother a senior softwares engineer already decided to leave Germany due to unbearable high cost for living and unable to afford a house for his wife and two daughters working overtime. IT companies in Germany do NOT pay US IT salary jobs. Me and my wife also decided for the sake of our daughters future to leave Germany for Poland in the next years. Poland has a bright future ahead and has become a central IT hub for US and Europe. Germany has nothing left to offer but high taxes, high cost of living, a bad and outdated retirement system, analog burocracy, no digital progress. I could go on and on. If you think to come to Germany as a skilled worked, DON'T, there are better alternative countries to choose from!

Germany dont have any facilities for Skilled People, after working for 3.5 years in a good position, Finally I'm moving out next month. \nGerman system is build for unskilled asylum seekers (both legal and illegal ones)

One think Germany could start and do is to fix the university application for international students. in theory they are super attractive with almost no tuition (ok 99% of courses are in German). But it runs on a German cycle months later than most other countries.... You can't start applying before May 15th for the next school year. that is 7 months later than the UK, Netherlands, Belgium etc, Meaning that by the time applications start in Germany, if you applied in those others countries you most likely got an offer already. In fact, my son applied also in Germany and only today got his high school diploma certified. took Uni-assist the government portal 5 weeks to do that. now he can submit that to the uni where he applied and who knows when they will make a decision. meanwhile he has other offers in equally good schools.

I visited Germany from the UK a year ago. Germany is expensive compared to other European nations... so, you will spend all the money you make to live - so, basically you will work to feed yourself... so you can work next day.

Perhaps its time for us to speak up and get the media to listen to employees instead of the ultra-wealthy so we can become efficient and well rested like many European labor forces, and not become the next Japan which seems to ignore employee needs.\n\nLet's give workers 5 or so weeks of actual time off as in Europe to prevent chronic burnout so we can keep up their productivity. Lets stimulate domestic tourism through this actual time off and revitalize rural Canada, creating business opportunities and jobs. Lets let our newly refreshed and productive workforce create world class companies like in Germany. \n\nAll it requires is we treat employees whether local or newcomer with respect, that labor organizations and companies cooperate to prevent burnout, and we have strong labor laws to prevent abuse by bad employers so employees can have enough time for friends, family, and things they like to do. This sounds easy, so lets fix this productivity crisis.\n\nJust my opinion.

What a racist language used sometimes. What do you mean by towns not looking very Canadian? The only deal Canadian town will be where aboriginal Inuit people live. Rest all towns no matter if the people came from Italy, Ireland, England, Poland, Germany , France or any other part of the world. All your reasons are the same reasons me and my husband want to leave Germany. Both of us were born here. Grew up here, but the stance what German Politicians are taking and how they are pushing the people here to hate on Muslims is insane. I always faced racism as a brown kid, as Germans in the 90s were super racist. My parents fled a genocide and ethnic cleansing themselves. So they thought at least we kids would grow up happy and safe here. Never felt home and at peace in this country. Ironic when you think how they are obsessed here with rules and laws. This war let us realise that these laws are being applied selectively. And so we made the decision to save up our money for the next 2- 3 years and as soon my husband finishes his higher education we are going to leave this country for good.

Next time someone invades america we will ask uk canada germany to take refugees in ?
