My parents immigrated in the early 90s and I was born in Canada. It’s very hard to relate to the new immigrants in the last 10 years because we’re so different. The families that immigrated in the 80s and 90s had to assimilate and become “Canadian” which in hindsight was for the best. I learned about my culture and language at home, but my parents, emphasized the importance of being “Canadian first” and being a part of society and “fitting in.” This wasn’t at all a bad thing. I learned to ski, skate, make ice lollies with snow and syrup, went camping, played sports… I feel embarrassed when Indians are looked at in this light, but its true. 90% of this new wave of immigrants on “student visas,” dont intend to actually obtain any sort of an education, instead they use it as a pathway for permanent residency. I know this because I have relatives who say this out loud behind closed doors. I don’t agree with any of it, and quite frankly it’s very embarrassing, but most of us first generation Indian Canadians feel very upset about how its all played out and the negative light in which our people are now viewed under. Personally, I agree they arent interested in becoming culturally Canadian, they just want to be in Canada for financial reasons. They stay in their groups, dont integrate and think somehow this will play out well. It isnt discrimination when your own people also feel this way. I have yet to meet a first gen Canadian who disagrees

As an Indian, I feel so embarrassed. Imagine visiting Japan and you see more Arabs than Japanese, why would one feel? That's the same feeling I get when I think of Canada.

In reality, using cow dung or urine as “holy” is a fringe belief by upper class people only, not followed by 99.9% Indians and not part of normal daily life. Anyone who actually does such things is doing a rare, attention-seeking stunt, not practicing Indian culture. Using extreme and rare examples to judge a whole country or class shows ignorance, not superiority.

The last generation of Sikhs were good. Worked hard. Assimilated into the Canadian culture. The new ones were a bum rush by Trudeau to keep the GDP numbers up while he robbed the country. I have Sikh friends who feel the same way. They feel like the new “students” and business subsidy abusers are ruining everything the old immigrants built. The new ones are ruining the reputation of the ones who have slowly integrated into the Canadian way of life. My Sikh friends are embarrassed by the actions of the wave of people coming in now… they even want them out

It’s very interesting because Indians seem to be more thick skinned than Canadians in general, so even white ppl’s reservations or microaggressions don’t register to them and they just keep expanding on positivity. I’ve met many Indian people in Canada and it almost seems like they’re so positive and community minded that they think it’s small minded to be stingy about sharing space, which can clash with the general reserved nature of Canadians but also make you feel embarrassed in a way about being judgmental. You even see it in this video with the white guy asking judgey questions to Indians but he gets showered with food and hospitality from the Indians. No matter how you fight it you kind of get overpowered by their positivity…

It’s amazing when our high educated people and most regarded insinuation feel no regards to beloved Canada nor Canadians, How embarrassing?

I am an Indian. Many of the new comers from the North of India , whether students or immigrants, do not speak English fluently. Some, especially the Punjabis, cannot even read and speak even a single sentence in English. They bribe the immigration officials and get the IELTS certificate for whichever score/band they need. Some of them have a criminal background. When the inquiry for background check comes up, they bribe the police to get a clean certificate... and they all immigrate to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other Western countries. Every other brown skinned people gets hated and embarrassed because of these people. I have a strong feeling that many in IRCC are of Indian decent and they help these people. These people are racists, arrogant, selfish, greedy, rude, disrespectful, uncivilized and mostly unintellectual. They don't even respect people from other parts of India.

I have only one question.. why is the government allowing them into the country ? What is the reason and who is it benefiting??? As I commented before , my parents came to Canada in 1966 I was just a baby , Canada had endless jobs in manufacturing, and especially in the construction sector , I will say that immigrants back then , Italians , and Portuguese really built this country , the men and women worked sometimes two jobs , no hand out from the government , no sick days , Canada was beautiful growing up , .. that’s how I remember it , other immigrants followed , from Poland , and then the Indians started to come in by the 80”s .. fast forward to now , I’m embarrassed of our country , it’s disgraceful and disgusting, the transition from back then to now , I feel like I’m living in India , dirty , scammers , gangs , thief’s , murders , ignorant , entitlement; disrespectful etc .. facts , one thing that I can’t wrap my head around is the language barrier , why are these people working in customer service ? Why are they dealing with the public ??? Why are they in the health care industry, nurses , doctors etc , when they can’t speak the language???? Why are they accepted in these highly skilled positions? Just because you have the skill ? Isn’t knowing the language and being able to communicate a requirement regardless what job you have ? Why is the government allowing them in this country and then paying for them to have all these resources available to them ? Why ?? We need to start helping the people that have contributed to this country , that paid taxes and their dues FIRST … we do not have enough affordable housing , jobs , hospitals ,etc .Canada has falling , they are a financial strain on this country , it needs to STOP.. this isn’t the 60”s anymore Canada is to the max , no opportunity here anymore , send them back !

As an American I can't tell you how embarrassed I feel

I’m an American, but I am not feeling very safe in my own country. I do not like what is going on. I feel very helpless and concerned about what the future holds. I am with Canada, and Ukraine. I am embarrassed and ashamed of our government and what is happening.

I feel sad and embarrassed ? I once was proud of our Country. This is the first time we are having trouble with our own allies. Make this make sense ?This Canadian leader is articulate and ? correct.

Trudeau, my brother, My words cannot begin to express to you or your people just how genuinely sorry I am for my country's utterly repulsive and inexcusable behavior throughout the last month and a half and for the downright cruel, hostile treatment you've suffered at the hands of the most incompetent, greedy, poorly educated, narcissistic, racist, sexist, xenophobic buffoon to ever preside over the United States. Not only is Donald Trump an overly privileged, pathetic, whiney crybaby who literally folds his arms, stomps his feet, and launches an all out temper tantrum whenever he doesn't get his way or when someone else has the TV remote, he is a dangerously delusional, high stakes risk taker who wouldn't think twice about using his own mother or child as a human body shield if he thought his life were in danger. There is absolutely no value, principle, moral or ethic he wouldn't betray without hesitation if he suspects there is anything at all to be gained - you know, the type of guy who would poison the entire neighborhood in order to hoard all the complimentary tampons and lip gloss samples from his neighbors' mail boxes just to ensure that he got first dibs on everything before anyone else. Incidentally, he is also the same type of guy who pockets all the flavored mini coffee creamers from the gas station and all the paper bed sheets and Qtips from the doctor's office. I wouldn't put it past him to steal the waitresses' tips off tabletops on his way out the door upon leaving McDonald's. In fact, I would bet everything that he steals the donation jars for Jerry's Kids at the local supermarket. I mean, its already a given that he is likely the guy who filed a lawsuit a few summers back against a sweet, innocent littls FOUR year old boy for having a lemonade stand on property not zoned for commercial use. If it wasn't Trump then I'm sure it's only because he was too busy ordering the National Guard to power hose and pepper spray the 30 or so elderly nuns who had been distributing bottled water to folks demonstrating in support of Black Lives Matter on the hottest day of the year. Satisfied in his victorious battle against the nuns - 9 of whom had been hospitalized for critical injuries including the 92 year old Mother Superior who suffered massive brain bleed, swelling and concussion due to the excessive force of the power hose and an 87 year old nun who lost permanent sight in one eye due to the pepper spray - Trump had the nerve to pose for a publicity shot in front of the church while holding a Bible - UPSIDE DOWN - and scrunching and contorting his face into that hideous trademark scowl he does ever so naturally. Yep. This is the man my fellow Americans chose to represent our nation as President - a man who beats up 90 year old nuns and imposes 25% tax hikes to our ONLY FRIEND in the entire world simply for refusing to accept his invitation for statehood. I mean, come on, Trudeau, is that really asking too much of you? Was it really worth bruising Donny's fragile little ego and sending him into a fit of rage? As an American, I am always feel embarrassed by this current administration both domestic and foreign. I know it’s going to be difficult for most us Americans and to most Canadians as well but, please make sure to give shit administration an ugly lesson which will be difficult to recover in short term.

As a UK citizen living in Canada, I’ve seen how much the U.S. has damaged its relationship with Canada, and I don’t think things will ever be the same. It’s honestly such a disgusting feeling to be an American right now. As a disabled US Veteran I did NOT vote for this administration. I do not want these tarrifs. And I feel sad for our country. This is not what our country stands for. This isn't our agenda. I know not everyone has the same opportunities unfortunately. But with effort and hard work I went to college, came to the US legally and have stayed the same way following every step I need to take in order to fulfill my dreams but on the right way. Yet seeing this, just makes me smh and makes feel embarrassed.

I just love it,,, i mean i just love it when we get a reality check,, i have been to 20 countries for studies, for work and as a toursit , i didnt face any visa rejection (maybe bcos my documents and funds were good) but boy o boy i just saw the behaviour of mostly hindi belt guys who go to Visa free countries like malaysia, bali, thailand and what horrible behaviour, they will spit around, drink pass lewid comments on foreigners and local ladies, try to bargain it was such an embarrassment, there were people chanting religious slogans near burj khalifa making reels, recently i visited georgia and some gujrati family was asking for seperate vegetarian cooked meals in an authentic georgian restaurant,, they were talking like they owned that place.\n\nI left india for studies in 2000 and came back in 2013, but during this time the indians were well behaved abroad and followed the rules,, maybe post smartphone era and the so called Godi media all have got a false feeling that we have become some vishwaguru just look at our comments on any videos on youtube instagram which are critical of us.\nThere was a news on one Lapdog Godi channel that Trump is crying infront of our PM that we help him in LA fires,, such shameless and bigoted lies will make any dimwit person think we are the greatest,\nIts high time we should start retrospecting our online as well as social behaviour.

I am an Indian who is living in Canada, we Indians really need lessons on honor decency professionalism and credibility, they have ruined Canada upside down, thrash everywhere unethical real estate trades, peeing on the road , pooping in the river ,my god the list goes on, as an indian myself i am feeling so much embarrassed , only assimilating high professional and character Indians should be allowed to travel abroad, i am glad that they are rejecting and the passport rating is so low

Im from Tamilnadu and while abroad i worked in shell for a shutdown i saw north indians workers spitting pan just before the englishmen and I, as an engineer from the same nationality as these backward people have to feel 2nd hand embarrassment for what these people do.\nMany in kerala and Tamilnadu behave well and have good manners. Unfortunately the majority of north Indians are like this excluding some guys who are very well behaved than me. Not out of hate but out of frustration.

I feel so embarrassed for them, and I'm not even Indian. ?

The allocation of funds is all on the government. Blame them. The number of racist comments here makes me feel embarrassed to be Canadian.
