I am an immigrant in Canada and these students assume their permanent residency is guaranteed after their studies but nobody was given 100% "assurance" but these students "assumed." We have a community about 15 miles west of St. Louis called "Barathaven" that is almost 100% Indian. 7-10k people. Mastercard has a big office here where they work. For the most part, the higher level execs are courteous and accommodating. The lower-level call center employees are absolute trash. All international students are required to provide documents and statement letters in their student visa applications to prove that they intend to return to their home countries after their studies. The only thing that is expected (not guaranteed in any way) is a post-graduation work permit to give them a chance to acquire Canadian work experience and have enough points to apply for permanent residency if they choose to. The government should only be responsible for those who were already selected and approved for residency before changes to the regulations. All future applicants should be evaluated based on the latest changes. That is not new, and all current immigrant citizens had to adapt to the changes to requirements back in their time as well.

There is a clear lie in that video. Nobody is in Limbo. Mind you there is normal Federal Express entry program still happening. Meaning, that if you get selected through that program, you can immigrate to any province of your choice - including Quebec. You can also still get bonus points for Canadian education (Quebec education does count) and Canadian work experience (if it qualifies). So the only thing that happened was, that one provincial nomination program was ended, that is all that happened. The practical problem is, that provincial nomination does give so many points, that it is a guarantee of normal express entry pull as long as you just meet criteria to enter Express entry. So provincial nominations are suitable for people that might be otherwise struggling with points (older age, less language perfection, les bonus points from education or work experience). For a disclaimer, provincial programs are based on a specific province needs and just because one was opened when you planned to go and study or work in Canada, it does not mean it will be like that forever. If an agent made you such promise, then he was misleading you. Again for those people demonstrating, nothing has changed for them other than one future option was gone. They still have their student or work permit until it expires. They also can apply into Express entry program as normal. On a side note for Canadian trying to cheer about this, be aware, such change can also mean that economy projection for next few years is not the best. so take it a warning sign. Or if we are lucky, it was found that this program was not bringing intended type of skilled worker or was heavily abused.

I'm a recruiter at one of the largest recruiting agencies in Ontario (Toronto), but I've been noticing something unusual about the degrees coming out of India. This is something that the government needs to address. I guarantee you, if they can do a thorough investigation, something may come out, "something not good".

Theres absolutely no reason to cite labour shortages when theres an unemployment rate and homeless people everywhere- close the borders- get homes built, throw heavy incentives to join and get educated on any productive field that has a shortage upto and including providing shelter to canadian citizens that decide to pursue these fields and are homeless. Have a fast track rotating incentive down to the year along with guaranteed on job training for all occupations. Such a simple solution so stupid we can't execute it. Too busy squabbling liberal conservative baseline rhetoric that we made ourselves blind to the human cost in our own borders.
