I cannot believe vassei if she lives in Canada, she knows this all the numbers were on the website, the government's own numbers, and all she does is argue. Please remove her from her position. Might as well be carney up there

When I was a small child, I had planned to go to European and American countries based on my knowledge and good values and not for money because I thought that people with good education and rules followed lived there. Now I am 18 and it is very sad to see that people who lack basic manners are going there in exchange of money, yes it is true that you cannot bring knowledge and good values in yourself with money, European people and American people should also think about this and should ask questions to their government that why are they bringing these people to get profit in the vote bank or are they very educated people, but looking at the condition it is not true that Their parents may have also taught them basic manners, many Indians do not have the flexibility to change their habits after seeing the country, but they would have had problems with people coming to their country from outside who did not live in the Indian culture, but if they did not live with outsiders and were forbidden to do that, then that would be racism! One should follow whatever religion one wants but see again it should change with the new environment, even in nature when a species migrates to a new place it follows the rules and practices it uses, it does not mean that its genetics change completely.

As a Canada who speaks both French and English and who follows politics quite closely, I have to say that the headline and some of the reporting here is quite misleading. A reduction in immigration has broad support across Canada. I wouldn't say that notion is dividing the country in any significant way. You do have certain industry groups that disagree, but among the population these reductions have broad support. This is a historic change in public opinion in Canada, but it has been driven by the unprecedented increase in immigration under the last term of the Trudeau government. To put this in context, non-permanent residents in Canada numbered around 1.5 million on Q3 2023, but by Q3 2025, that number sat a just over 3 million. The previous government increased immigration targets by 3 or 4 times over what they had been for years, which caused a number of economic issues. Essentially, the volume was simply too high for the economy and society to support. This was unfair to both Canadians and new comers, many of which could not find employment or afford a decent place to live. The changes being suggested are largely bringing Canada back to what the targets were for over a decade before, though a bit lower to account for the sudden surge. Canada remains one of the most pro-immigration countries in the world. However, and this is where I think DW's reporting is misleading, there is a distinction to be made between policies at the federal level and policies at the provincial level. Immigration, per our constitution, is a federal matter, however, Quebec in particular is distinct from other provinces. I don't mean only culturally and linguistically, but also in the powers that have been devolved to it by the federal government. On the question of immigration, Quebec has more powers and more ability to set its immigration targets and programs than any of the other 9 provinces. The particular program discussed here, the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ), is a particular immigration stream that only existed in Quebec. So what is happening with that program cannot be labeled as a whole-of-Canada thing. Where the changes to the PEQ are controversial, unlike the general changes at the federal level, is that people who immigrated under that specific program were promised certain things. There was a multi-year time line to Permanent Residency and then Citizenship. Many of those people have been in Quebec for 5-8 years already. However, the changes made to the program were done in such a way where people who many years into the program, had gotten an education, started a career, had children, ect. are now being told they can't continue and must leave Canada. There are even stories of people who married Canadians, now have children, and the one parent who was under this program now faces the possibility of having to leave Canada and be separated from their family. All through no fault of their own. That is what many people see as unfair, and I agree, however limiting future applications under the program, to bring in less people, that is not controversial. Canada has no responsibility to bring in people who are not already in Canada, but Canada does have some responsibility towards people who uprooted their lives to move to Canada and built new lives here based on promises and representations made to them by the Canadian and Quebecois governments. We should no simply kick those people out of the country.

They live in Brampton and commute everywhere in the GTHA and beyond. Their presence isn’t actually a problem, but their behaviour has made their presence a problem. All people except the Native people are immigrants or offspring of immigrants. Absolutely, embracing diversity and promoting equality are essential steps toward creating a more inclusive and harmonious society. Recognizing that everyone has unique backgrounds and perspectives can enrich our communities and foster understanding. Working together to build a better future for ourselves and generations to come is a shared responsibility that benefits us all. We cannot label people based on our perception. Everyone should earn an honest living and be kind to people around them. That is what makes us Canadian - the kind and polite.

I know what you're thinking 😁 See for the last couple centuries industrialized nations all over the world have been importing people like potatoes. And there is a very good reason for that. See over the last couple hundred years you have made many advances in technology medicine and law enforcement. Your people however aren't having fifteen children anymore and your population is therefore receding. You then have to import people i.e. drain all the brains from around the world. Immigrants are also more eager to come if things back home aren't good especially when the world is bombing your pants off. Also things like rampant corruption that make it extremely difficult to live an honest life. They're also having children upon children because technology doesn't yet exist and so god told them to. 🦫 We are finite beings in an infinite universe. Also, you cannot stop immigration.

The problem is there are just to many off them. Then too many have gotten very arrogant saying thing like this our country now. Taking over cities street with loud music for some wedding and to those who also live on the street cannot even park there car or live in there homes due to the loud noise. No permit, just taking over. The other problem the last few years immigrations number have skyrocket and 90% of them our Indians. The government should have never let such a large group from one country enter. Meanwhile as climate change happen a lot of countries will be in trouble and the people will need to go somewhere. Iran has only 3% of there water reserve left. India has ruin there country and so has China with pollution and dumping of heavy metel in river and lakes. Meanwhile the Caribbean is expected to be unlivable in 15 and 20 years. The USA we are expected to lose 100 miles of our coastline. That area is where 50% of Americans lives. Pretty soon it will be everyone for themselves if certain country do not look at the long term picture. Also the lifestyle we are living today is just not sustainable.

What a disgrace. Multiculturalism is a failed experiment. We CANNOT turn Canada into India 2.0 The Sikh at 12:30 saying we all live in the same world to justify mass migration doesn't understand that that sentiment of universalism is only applied to white countries and it is destroying OUR White culture. I cannot believe I am living in New India.

I lived in Canada for 11 years, 2008 - 2019, went to university and worked in Toronto. I come from an upper-middle class family in China, went to a top university in Canada, landed good jobs and I speak English like a native. I got my PR in 2015 and I remember the painful uphill battle I had to go through just get that. All the bureaucracy, redtape, unnecessarily rigid rules, high cost and long wait I received from CIC/IRCC felt like a humiliation to me. Every document was scrutinized and every step had obstacle that fealt unreasonable (my TOEFL examiner ask me why I had to do the language test required by CIC, and I had to visit a notary to validate my Chinese national ID card). It felt uneasy but I understood that these were the rules that everyone had to go through, and moving and integrating into a new society was never meant to be easy. I went back to Canada in 2021 and 2024, and it was evident that the country I once called home had gone down the hill. The streets were screaming crime, unemployment, inflation, drug and filth, it's total social rot. As someone who went through the whole immigration process (and many of my friends who went through the same have left Canada for good, like myself), I attribute much of this to failed immigration policy. I cannot help but feel confused, angry, betrayed and humiliated when I look at the recent immigration policies of Canada and their results, and compare with what I had to go through. The feeling sums up to: Canada penalizes the hard-working and law-abiding people, and rewards the undeserved and the cheaters. Example: when the US creates wars in the Middle East, why does CANADA bear the cost of bringing in refugees? I never regretted moving back to China and East Asia, and I feel bad for those who still truly think of Canada as home, as I am one myself. When the leadership of a country deviates from pragmatism, reason and common sense, and instead embraces idealogies, hypocrisy and political optics, this is what happens. The prices are paid by everyone, immigrant or not. For this, Trudeau deserves a court trial for his incompetence and dereliction of duty; and the people of Canada need some honest and serious retrospection. I will share some words of wisdom by the late Lee Kwan Yew: “Whoever governs Singapore (LKY was the PM and founding father of Singapore) must have that iron in him. Or give it up. This is not a game of cards, this is your life and mine. I've spent a whole lifetime building this and as long as I'm in charge, nobody is going to knock it down.” I hope the clownish weakling politicians in Canada (and, in much of the western world nowadays) can be enlightened a little bit.

If they work, file their taxes, don't siphon the system and talk to me in English then I do not care what they do in their own time. On the contrary, I wish them the best. Those who do not contribute to society and merely leech off of it are the true dregs. That applies the same to a white man with needles harassing people under a bridge and a black man in a hoodie and mask robbing a convenience store (non-Indian stereotypes) as it does to any immigrant who hops the border and expects this country to fund their way. That said, there have been far too many immigrants in the last decade, regardless of origin. I've lived in my small town in BC for 37 years and somehow I cannot get a family doctor (I visit all of the local clinics annually and am on the provincial waiting list) while a lot of newer residents seem to have a doctor within months of moving here. I am glad I bought my house when I did, I would not be able to afford one today. I am not against legal immigration, just slow it down so the infrastructure can support it and properly vet those who apply. The system for deportment currently employed in the US is far too hastened and imperfect for my liking but the lack-of-a-system (or heck, acknowledgement) that this is even an issue by the current and previous Canadian governments is equally as concerning (arguably more, other folks can debate the politics of it).

Hindus and Sikhs do not seek coverts.They wish to live peacefully and coexist peacefully. I cannot say that about Christians and Muslims who are seeking converts and incase of muslims create havoc in society.

I'm not fed up with Immigrants for who they are but some can't drive to save their lives and are a hazard. I nearly got smoked a few times simply because the ones I mentioned cannot drive. I will tell you I know this because I know driver examiners that have told me horror stories. Many STILL drive and with no insurance. It's insane.

My family immigrated here in 2011. First, I want to express gratitude—to the Indigenous peoples who have always been the true stewards of this land, and to the other immigrants , despite a complicated history, built a nation where opportunity is possible. We cannot erase the past, but we can acknowledge it and learn to live with respect. I agree. Canadians are not getting jobs. All Canadians of every color. The govt is responsible for this epidemic. Cdn born students cannot get a job at any fast food joints. My Granparents, parents, settled the homestead in 1896 near Rossland BC. How it used to work, how things are supposed to work, is the Government serves the needs and demands of the people. The people don't serve the Government nor any Corporation or Public/Private Partnership. This means that the Government doesn't prevent people from doing what they do and they don't use force to extort the fruit of everyone's labor to the point of enslavement. In 1896 and throughout my Grandfather's life from 1902 to 1976, one would do for themselves if they weren't working for someone else. In other words, you found something needed be done, something the community around you required or was lacking, you opened shop and got after it. You can't work today because you require licensing for everything, you require permission for everything, everything is regulated. People have it in their minds that it's so much better today then it was then, that it's "safer". But it's not, that's a lie. My family, although never wealthy, ate good food, always had a roof over their heads, plenty of family around and always had something to do or at least could always find something to work at. Most importantly, they always had hope because they had freedom. No one has any hope anymore and the people coming here aren't just bringing their culture to overtake our culture, they are coming with anger. With envy, resentment and malice. My family didn't come here with those things, they came to Canada with hope and determination to integrate and prosper with freedom. The other side of my family fled Bolshevism when they left Russia and came here and that side had the exact same hope in freedom to work hard and prosper. Now all generational wealth, freedom, prosperity and hope is all but completely stolen. We don't need more regulations. We don't need more benefits. We don't need more Government. We need less, we need it all to go away because I know for a fact, you give people the freedom to go about their lives, the society or community they form, always tends towards peaceful, prosperous organization. You give people the freedom to build and produce and they'll get after it immediately and that opens the door for all other manner of trades and skills that just fill any hole in a community or society. And that's a fact about the organizational tendencies of human beings. There's nothing stopping us from providing for ourselves but a cartel Government in the business of extortion and human enslavement. They foment chaos and division in order to justify the revoking of more freedoms to enslave more people. People themselves, they look to get along, get to work, raise families and, as best they can, enjoy life. Once we start expecting a Government to take care of us we've institutionalized prisoners who have lost all human dignity. When you "buy in" to all the rhetoric of so called autonomy, ask yourself, how autonomous are you without a family? Just because you're alone in a box in a city, stacked one on top of the other, weighted down by a landslide of rules, collecting benefits from the Government, doesn't make you autonomous. People say, "no one can afford a family". Yet those coming in have large families and they seem to be making out just fine. It's the brainwashing of our culture that set us up. Over time we've convinced the proper way to do things is everyone to grow up and go their own way, leaving each other relying on benefits from the government in old age or illness or whatever calamity might strike in life. There's always something that comes along. With family you have human resource, a plethora of skills and you have your "insurance", free of extortion. Everything that comes from a government is conditional and sooner or later their conditions rule over our condition, even though it's our labor that provides for them. The answer isn't more benefits, as I've said. The answer is simply less government, so we can all get to the business of providing for ourselves and helping our communities prosper. We need to do this with family because alone, we are all isolated and powerless. No one stands alone and a house divided cannot stand.

I am supportive of immigration, but I believe there should be a cap of no more than 1-2.5% annually. A significant number of migrants moving to Canada from the same region or country could cause issues, as this can lead to the formation of "mini-bubble" societies within Canada. These groups may sometimes become the dominant demographic and undermine the existing communities that have contributed to building Canada for decades. We cannot expect new immigrants to seamlessly merge into Canadian society. This is a major oversight by Canada’s Immigration Department. Digital applications from foreign nations may play a role in this phenomenon. There should also be regulations concerning how many new immigrants can be brought in by family members. For instance, one new citizen can legally bring both of their parents and their spouse, which is fair. However, there have been cases where this process is repeated multiple times within ten years, leading to a 1:15 ratio, where one person can bring in six to eight relatives. If there is a labor shortage in essential fields, Canada can offer long-term residency to those who continue to work in those sectors, such as caretakers. However, the pathway to citizenship could be lengthened or require a higher standard. For instance, the requirements could extend from X years of living in Canada to X+5 years, as well as passing a basic Canadian citizenship test, either written or verbal. While an increase of five years may seem unfair or lengthy, it is essential. A newborn child from a Canadian family requires 18 years to gain voting rights in elections, whereas new immigrants—especially those who come for study for four to six years—can potentially gain both citizenship and voting rights sooner if they meet the previous administration's standard. Children under the age of 18 can gain citizenship in as little as X-4 years, regardless of their full integration into Canadian society. This loophole is sometimes abused and provides preferential treatment that favors this process over existing Canadian. In my opinion, it would be fairer to calculate the duration of "living in Canada" based on the number of years they have paid "income taxes" in Canada. This is important because many individuals with multiple passports pay taxes elsewhere while benefiting from Canadian healthcare and other services. The investment in home buying as a pathway to citizenship has contributed to the housing crisis, resulting in numerous empty homes in various regions. While it may offer short-term economic benefits that some politicians favor, it is detrimental to Canada as a whole. If buying a house is the only requirement for citizenship, wouldn't a large portion of the global population be eligible for U.S. citizenship just by investing in U.S. businesses or stocks? This perspective may seem illogical when looking at it from outside the box. Apologies for being a bit wordy; I had much more to say. Nonetheless, I also support temporary residency for up to 6-9 months for those who have been evacuated due to war, natural disasters, or similar circumstances. Special exceptions can be granted for families with members working in critical fields that merit such considerations (high-end industry).

American here that has extensive relationships in Canada. We don’t want this tariff war but the tariffs being implemented first by the Trump administration on behalf of US were punitive for violating USMCA and tied directly to the border defects. This was made known in advance and you repeated empty promises. Take your medicine and get well fast. Instead of doing that, you are taking an action that will beget reciprocal tariffs. Implement $30B and Trump will add $30B….add another $125B later and Trump will add another $125B. Heads up….America wants good partners and looks forward to being past this as well. In the meantime, we are prepared to pay more (or live with less) as we get back up on our feet. We have a lot of internal healing and cannot carry any other countries right now. You people from XYZ are really like the EU hypocrites that all you got is words. As a Canadian, I hate Trudeau and everything his government has done to the country. I want a PM like Trump that is willing go against the entire system(deep state) and dig out all the dirt even though you're in the way of a lot of powerful people and organizations. Out of all the world leaders today, Trump is the only one with that kind of courage. Compare that to Trudeau—aside from his nice suits and polished public image, what has he actually done to improve the lives of Canadians? \nWe need a DOGE go into WHY WE ARE PAYING SO MUCH TAXES. When I was living in Vancouver, I (and many ppl) would just drive cross the border to get gas and groceries because it's just much cheaper once you're on US soil.... For years we cannot retain any talents because they would just migrate to the states because the pay is much higher with less taxes. I used to live in a bubble thinking that even though life is tough and it's harding to make a living here but at least it's more peaceful here than the States. That is not the case anymore and everything is getting worse in the past 10 years.

Trudeau is the epitome of western society's moral decay, under his leadership Canada has become a radical third world country, from gay marriage to state sponsored marihuana, to state sponsored gambling that floods the country. As a result, Canada today is the bedrock and safe haven for criminals, while ordinary Canadian people's lives continually decline, especially the working class who are struggling yet still cannot make ends meet. A lot of Canadians either have moved to the US, or they would like for Canada to be part of the US so that they have some hope. I am sorry for the Canadian people but have no sympathy for Trudeau.

I have no idea what possessed Mr. Trump to decide to stab our allies in the back, but it was not something good. 27.5% of voting age adults voted for him. How many of them were serenaded by hollow promises and a good slogan. Perhaps all of the mud slinging and Russian media interference helped? If you add in our more studious teenagers, truly reformed felons, and immigrants who actually deserve a gold card, that number plummets to less than 25%. I won't ask people to wake up, if you are reading this you are already more than capable of finding out that I speak only the hard truth. This means less than a quarter of america wanted this. This means your vote and opinions DO count. I know it is incredibly difficult to reach for and find answers in a world where your president or primary candidate throws 'fake news' in your face on a regular basis. He is actually telling the truth. When he is not telling you is that he is a primary enabler of 'fake news'. To him, only his word is law, only his opinion matters, only he deserves to be on top, and he deserves authority over all of your lives. Do the right thing, we all have a civil duty to understand our candidates to the very best of our ability. When a man has been convicted of dozens of felonies, and we tell you that this is only what we were willing to expose. You may want start believing us. The genuine facts of his past are unilaterally corrupting to our children and good people alike. Do not let the american people repeat their mistakes, force Mr. Trump to atone for his mistakes. No not empower him to sweep them under the rug for the sake of his own arrogance, because that is exactly what he is doing by trying to dismantle the CIA and FBI. These two institutions are shining examples of America's pursuit of freedom and justice. Freedom to keep billionaires from corrupting the morals of our children. Freedom to know that the rule of law is immutable, our constitution is not just a paper with fancy traditional sentiment. Even if the law may sometimes be bent for the sake of decency, forgiveness, and the pursuit of 'united we stand', our constitution cannot. Amendments require the FULL support of nearly all Americans, not 27.5% of unrestricted adults.

i live in Canada and i do not agree with what Justin Trudeau is doing. We SHOULD back down from fighting! This is a war we cannot win.❤ Most people in Canada want Justin out of office. I mean, its already a given that he is likely the guy who filed a lawsuit a few summers back against a sweet, innocent littls FOUR year old boy for having a lemonade stand on property not zoned for commercial use. If it wasn't Trump then I'm sure it's only because he was too busy ordering the National Guard to power hose and pepper spray the 30 or so elderly nuns who had been distributing bottled water to folks demonstrating in support of Black Lives Matter on the hottest day of the year. Satisfied in his victorious battle against the nuns - 9 of whom had been hospitalized for critical injuries including the 92 year old Mother Superior who suffered massive brain bleed, swelling and concussion due to the excessive force of the power hose and an 87 year old nun who lost permanent sight in one eye due to the pepper spray - Trump had the nerve to pose for a publicity shot in front of the church while holding a Bible - UPSIDE DOWN - and scrunching and contorting his face into that hideous trademark scowl he does ever so naturally. Yep. This is the man my fellow Americans chose to represent our nation as President - a man who beats up 90 year old nuns and imposes 25% tax hikes to our ONLY FRIEND in the entire world simply for refusing to accept his invitation for statehood. Our legislators should override Trumps decision, it takes 2/3 approval by our House and Senate and it does not matter what Trump does, he cannot Veto! To the Americans who are outraged by Trump, you need to stand up and truly fight like the MAGAts did when they stormed the capital on Jan 6th. If you really have a problem with whats going on you need to take a stand and make a difference. If you just sit back then you are allowing it to go on. Sorry if thats unfair to say but we're living in a time where your Leader is going to only get worse and worse and start a World War if he isnt stopped and held accountable. 1/2: Myself and the saner half of the US that read, understood, and voted against Proj 2025 understands why they need to levy retaliatory tariffs especially as a Michigander who's lived less than 4 hours from Canada all her life, who has family in Quebec and Ontario, and is a job-seeking policy professional and international trade nerd who now cannot in good faith seek a job in the federal government. We have been looking and still do look to Canada as a model quite a bit and love Canada and Canadians to pieces. We Michiganders especially in the central and eastern UP and Detroit and Ann Arbor area are friends, coworkers, and family of Canadians. Some are even dual citizens.
