Perhaps we should all personally step back for a period and examine exactly what it is we're doing and start looking for solid, out-of-the-box solutions, because using 19th century political tools for affecting change just doesn't work anymore. Finally, this might be hard to wrap our heads around, but we are all part of the problem in some way. If you have the faculty to do so, ask yourself if you work for or support entities that ultimately support the very system oppressing you. Be smarter out there, everyone.

Why is it so difficult to have reasonable conversations about this? Most of this video is completely true — but so many comments show love to that bike guy who was factually incorrect and pointlessly racist. But on the other hand, so many woke types don’t even want to admit the problem. They also don’t want to talk about how the government is complicit. Every nation has a right to define itself, and how much immigration it wants, and how that immigration happens. You can also acknowledge that early immigrants and their kids are often completely American/Canadian, from their native language, accents, education, references etc. And that Indians are generally a low-crime, high-employment, high-tax-paying immigrant group. And we ALSO acknowledge that that’s changing because of the type/number of people coming in, and the financial and political incentives which support it. It causes valid resentment. I grew up in Brampton from 1985 to 2010. I watched it change. Not for the better. I got the hell out there and every time I go back to visit my fam, it's even worse. Most Canadians are not against immigration. We just took too many immigrants in there wasn’t enough places for them to live. It wasn’t fair to them or the people living here. Things had to change. I think your title is incorrect, no political party is advocating for more immigration at the moment. The people who are advocating for more migration now have their own personal agendas, this does not represent the country as a whole. The country is not falling apart because of changes in immigration laws.

Changes to immigration are welcome. In Quebec things are far more complicated as integration and language come into play. Most immigrants struggle to build a life in Canada due to expensive housing (renting or ownership). Canada was also accepting too many professional immigrants (engineering, business, consulting, IT, accounting) when we desperately need trades, construction workers and mechanics. The reduction in immigration and foreign students to sustainable levels is long overdue.

As a Canada who speaks both French and English and who follows politics quite closely, I have to say that the headline and some of the reporting here is quite misleading. A reduction in immigration has broad support across Canada. I wouldn't say that notion is dividing the country in any significant way. You do have certain industry groups that disagree, but among the population these reductions have broad support. This is a historic change in public opinion in Canada, but it has been driven by the unprecedented increase in immigration under the last term of the Trudeau government. To put this in context, non-permanent residents in Canada numbered around 1.5 million on Q3 2023, but by Q3 2025, that number sat a just over 3 million. The previous government increased immigration targets by 3 or 4 times over what they had been for years, which caused a number of economic issues. Essentially, the volume was simply too high for the economy and society to support. This was unfair to both Canadians and new comers, many of which could not find employment or afford a decent place to live. The changes being suggested are largely bringing Canada back to what the targets were for over a decade before, though a bit lower to account for the sudden surge. Canada remains one of the most pro-immigration countries in the world. However, and this is where I think DW's reporting is misleading, there is a distinction to be made between policies at the federal level and policies at the provincial level. Immigration, per our constitution, is a federal matter, however, Quebec in particular is distinct from other provinces. I don't mean only culturally and linguistically, but also in the powers that have been devolved to it by the federal government. On the question of immigration, Quebec has more powers and more ability to set its immigration targets and programs than any of the other 9 provinces. The particular program discussed here, the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ), is a particular immigration stream that only existed in Quebec. So what is happening with that program cannot be labeled as a whole-of-Canada thing. Where the changes to the PEQ are controversial, unlike the general changes at the federal level, is that people who immigrated under that specific program were promised certain things. There was a multi-year time line to Permanent Residency and then Citizenship. Many of those people have been in Quebec for 5-8 years already. However, the changes made to the program were done in such a way where people who many years into the program, had gotten an education, started a career, had children, ect. are now being told they can't continue and must leave Canada. There are even stories of people who married Canadians, now have children, and the one parent who was under this program now faces the possibility of having to leave Canada and be separated from their family. All through no fault of their own. That is what many people see as unfair, and I agree, however limiting future applications under the program, to bring in less people, that is not controversial. Canada has no responsibility to bring in people who are not already in Canada, but Canada does have some responsibility towards people who uprooted their lives to move to Canada and built new lives here based on promises and representations made to them by the Canadian and Quebecois governments. We should no simply kick those people out of the country.

I live in a medium size city in Canada I’m not gonna say the name of it, but it has in between 100,000 and 400,000 people but where I live it seems to be 30% Indian immigrants and I am not racist one bit but it it seems to be more immigrants, then are actual people that lived here before and it just seems to be like the city. I’m grew up in Brampton, born here to immigrant parents who came in the 90s. The new generation of immigrants have really created a bad image for Indians here, I will encounter all kinds of racism online or in real life, and the hatred is real. I wish it wasn’t so, but Brampton and for that matter the GTA is not equipped to handle these many people. I’m from a rural northern Alberta town with a population of less than 3000 people and the Indian demographic has probably doubled our population. The immigration of primarily Indian “temporary” immigrants is not isolated to western Canada or to large cities. Most are here on student visas but are also somehow business owners / owner operators and have since invited large families to relocate here. It has complete changed the culture of the town. Also, Alberta has one major highway from north to south and the amount of semi truck crashes along our highway and dangerous goods routes have probably quadrupled. :(

Worst thing that ever happened to Canada. I can't even begin to describe how my community has changed. I don't even recognize it anymore. Spent my entire life in a small town and for some unknown reason it is part of a "designated resettlement zone." There are more Indians than whites - it's insane. Local businesses have closed, new businesses catering to Indians have opened. Littering is rampant. Homes aren't taken care of. One thing that always surprises me is that a lot of immigrants actually don't like mass immigration. I worked with a polish lady who complained more than anyone about the amount of polish people. I've met a lot of Turkish people and a few of them weren't best pleased with the amount of turkish people, and in this video an Indian man says there's too much of it too. Its not an uncommon sentiment among immigrants that they specifically came here for a change in culture, only for it to follow them here. Specifically surrounding politics, a lot of them leave because of the politics where they were, only to find its just as much of a problem here because so many bring those problems over with them rather than leaving them behind. Just to clarify though while I think immigration is obviously a big problem in its current state, I'm not at all against the idea of immigration in general. I care more about where people are going than where they're from. Its just very odd when you hear a strong accented polish lady walk passed complaining and swearing about all the polish people. I guess it does make sense though, if i imagine desperately wanting to leave home for Australia, it would obviously be disappointing to arrive after packing up my life savings to find out all of the people and all of the things were exactly the same as back home. Pretty sad when you think about it.

I’m gonna comment here with a lil rant and I’m Indian woman, and I know my comment here would probably invite a lot of racist remarks . I am working very hard in my country to be a doctor and I wanna leave my country (because no opportunities ) and move to a better and a safer country where I’m respected as a woman , which my country fails to . Now , I have to give a lot of exams and fill up a lot of visa requirements to be in any better country and I’m absolutely fine with it . But I’m not fine with the fact that countries like Canada , Australia , uk etc are immigrating people from India who are not educated , don’t wanna assimilate, with very eased up visa requirements, easy pr facilities because these countries want cheap labor and when these bottom of barrel uneducated folks move to another country they do shady businesses , start making huge communities of similar people having similar views and this leads to chaos and a backlash , racism on a particular ethnicity, stereotypes and so and so . I’m not saying my people aren’t flawed , they are but why the government is so easy in immigrating uneducated uncouth people from 3rd world countries where even these people wouldn’t be hired in some great companies or give anything great to build a valuable society , why people who are talented and literally would assimilate, has respect , is educated literally would bring a change for better is sidelined or toughened up their immigration process ? I might come off as very rude and jealous by my comment and actually im kinda jealous but I really wanna know and I observed this pattern a lot . All educated people wanting to move out are struggling while these kinda are just migrating so so easily and most even have permanent residencies WHAT ???

I actually like Indian folks, but there are simply too many of them in western countries and there is no sign of the flood stopping, there is essentially an infinite amount of them. In the US they have become the second-largest immigrant group in many states. Big business/globalists like them for cheap labor and demographic change, and their fellow Indians of course support them out of ethnic/cultural loyalty. Canada with its small population has been completely overrun in just a handful of years by both them and the Chinese. Same thing in Australia.

Honest reflection and research would make this clear.

Countries with massive populations should be at the bottom of the list for immigration. It's just common sense, we already have 1.5 BILLION indians, so why would we want them migrating in large numbers to other countries too?! The same applies to Africans. From a practical standpoint, White-majority nations should be protected from demographic change. We've benefited enormously from these countries, and any rational person would want them to stay as they are.

lol no fatso these are not the upper class Indians. These are farmers and other lower-class people that escape India and go to Canada. The upper-class Indians are either in India or in the US because that's where they go with their college degrees to make money. But Canada is very lucky to even have these people. What most people around the world do not understand is that without immigration, countries like Canada have negative population growth, and their economies would collapse. There would not be anybody to work in Tim Hortons or any service positions at anywhere near reasonable prices. Indians do not try to actively change the local culture like Muslims do which our fatso also noted and they do not go on welfare. All of them add to the economy. Which Fatso I'm sure is also doing just like them as he delivers Uber Eats or whatever it is to them as they do the more complicated work. So weird to call immigration ‘invasion’ ur content changed for the worse bro

First of all, Tyler is a hardworking journalist and I respect that, however a lot of this video was wildly ignorant, from almost everyone involved, including from him. This is cheap views unfortunately. It paints a very bad perspective for all the genuinely hardworking citizens and residents of Indian origins, why not show that side of them too? There’s obviously actual students who come to study and provide for the community while also maintaining their own culture? What’s wrong with that? Besides, what is a Canadian culture if not a mix of immigrants from all around the world? Are white people also not just immigrants to this country or did they magically spawn in this place? They’ve committed ATROCITIES (not just in Canada), yet have the audacity to act like they’re the cleanest ones in the land. While I do agree some Indians do not improve the reputation, most are really kind, helpful and honest people. Perhaps treat everyone like humans for a change instead of using the bad ones as a benchmark. PS, cutting to the ugly streets when someone mentions Punjab is probably the cheapest attention grab, obviously there’s bad streets, ugly roads, gross people everywhere but so are beautiful ones, lovely countryside views, beautiful mountains and most of all, very hardworking and respectful people as well. Your view of Punjab is just NOT the same as the one of the people in the video who view their motherland as a beautiful place. You can portray every place in the world in that light with the wrong perspective, be it New York, Paris, Barcelona, Cairo, Sydney, Rio, London, etc, but it must be nice to get a few more looks at the expense of demeaning others.

Demographics change all the time and culture is fluid. Being pissed about it just means YOU need to have more kids. Without YOU having more children or immigration, towns die and economies shrink. It’s a simple numbers game.
