Great discussion ! This is a big issue and should be resolved quickly ( it wont) but would be nice to and thank you for not attributing Michelle Ruempel Garner as being Trump like , we need to stop looking south and start cleaning up our own mess , or someone else is going to do it for us and it wont be pretty.

Indian students claiming asylum after their student visas expire and they can’t get PR any more which their “consultants” promised them.

I typically do not agree with a lot of what the conservatives say, and I usually do not like anything that Michelle Rempel Garner says (or the way she says it). However, what she said here, and the way she said it, makes complete sense. I was a bit disappointed that there are no actual numbers as to how much the government would save, but it doesn't seem like a bad idea to put the legislation in place, and whatever they save is a bonus. imho Be the Change You Wish to See in the World 💖

It is also very hard when every single store; walmart; Fast food is all India. Other races will not be hired, so all we see are India taking over every taxi and every single job. They can tolerate having all their family live in one house, as they buy multiple homes. These homes are left empty, until enough house are bought to take over a lane or an entire neighbourhood. They are not hostile; extremely friendly, yet not as concerned about wearing hair net or beard net or gloves when preparing food. That dodge makes me question her judgment. It feels like she’s leaning into fear‑mongering language that easily panics people who aren’t paying attention to nuance — which, sadly, describes most of this comment section. Also, did you see the reply to the Filipino student who voiced frustration? “You guys make up some of the most cleanest restaurants I’ve ever been to.” That kind of response speaks to a lack of respect for international students. To many in the Canadian workforce, international students and migrants are treated as disposable labor — steered toward low‑ and middle‑income jobs. Yes, fraud should be dealt with, but it’s lazy and unfair to claim that all Indians or international students come here through fraud. If that logic ruled, we’d have to start deporting every non‑Indigenous person — which ignores the whole reality of colonization.
