I hope it’s clear to everyone how, while good people, the majority of interviewees in this video are taking advantage of our country because we’re “nice” and they aren’t able to sort things out in their own. The majority of these people aren’t highly educated and came in on student visas and you’ve got to wonder why our government allowed this. It’s made a lot of things worse for people who lived here already, including immigrants. No racism just frustration.

I want to say thank you for doing this video and being honest...as a Canadian I'm feeling quite sick know that my daughter probably won't even be able to get a part time job to save money for school since I can't afford it on my own. At this point - Feb 2025- a lot of condos have been built in Toronto and guess what, nobody is buying!! The economy dipped with the pandemic as it happened in many other countries! When I immigrated to Canada - and I had nothing then, it was impossible to even think of buying a house, under a Conservative government. About 10 years later I was able to purchase my first home and am doing well, thank you. So are the builders in this beautiful province, close friends with the premier. I've written similar comments elsewhere that were automatically deleted by the person who posted the video, and I found that disheartening. I first want to address the rumour about human feces and dirty diapers being found on Canadian beaches, and I want to stand up for the people who called out Indians for doing this. Somebody saw something. Maybe they weren't able to produce any legal proof of it, but they clearly saw something, and there is nothing racist about them calling out this behaviour. This practice is not only unhygienic. It is ILLEGAL in Canada; so, it absolutely should be called out publicly to prevent it from ever happening again. I have seen many videos about the culture of mass open defection in India. The videos I saw were posted by Indians themselves. One of those videos was a TEDx talk done by a woman named Sangita Vyas who discussed the truth about open defecation and that it is not limited to only the poor population. Even people who can afford to build latrines are not using them, and she explains why after interviewing Indians to ask why. I've watched Indian doctors talk online about how many Indian children die from something as simple as diarrhea every year as a direct result of the water contamination caused by open defecation. So, clearly, open defecation is legal in India, and perhaps some of these people think if it's legal at home then it must also be legal elsewhere. WRONG. It's illegal in Canada. It's unhygienic. It should never happen. Period. And there is NOTHING racist about a Canadian saying this out loud and reminding people that they must follow the rules and laws of the country they are in.

One hint that I have been able to manage in the 72 years, I’ve been living in Canada was to change my mindset about winter. One year I decided to list all the beautiful things about winter and every time I felt like complaining about winter, I would insert one of the beauties. I was visiting when I felt sick. I came home asap. Turned out I had a tumour on my brain stem. Thankfulness. 4 surgical teams, 10 hr surgery, 1wk in hosp, months of homecare, rehab and follow up mri and care. Yikes. My sis moved down in 1976, was good when she was in her 30’s while she worked. Her husband, American, went off on Canadian disability and once my sister retired their healthcare costs were crazy. They moved to a state that had better senior med care. I was visiting four yrs ago. My sis had several hosp visits due to heart issues. She ended up having open heart surgery. The hospital was lovely. Care was great. Pt care room was huge. I was used to tight icu cubicles. She had complications, day 4 the social worker came to tell her she was being discharged the next day. Her insurance had run out. There was no further coverage!!! She was in her 80’s had just had a stent blow thru her R coronary artery 5 days earlier then have bypass surgery and had just come off a ventilator the day before. I had to get back to Canada the next day. Thankfully, the social worker was able to continue working to find respite care at a nursing home for her for a couple more wks. \n\nI love certain parts of the states having spent a majority of my childhood visiting since my big sister moved there. Both countries are having issues now. Housing sucks in canada. If you aren’t doing well financially, canada isn’t all that great anymore either.

Great video. Thank you! My experience was a bit quite different when I arrived there in 2007. I did have support in bureaucracy and German skills. My university gave me almost free courses and scholarship payed full time courses with living cost included. I did have the luck to meet good Germans friends that helped me and made me feel included. After some years, when I wanted to pursuit a natural career path is when I found difficulties. Being promoted more than senior engineer, a manager positions or a Professor position were out of my reach because of me being different. My earnings aspirations soon reached a limit and then decided to leave to California. I have full respect and love for Germany, but there I was not able to be what I wanted to be. Now I have achieved more abroad. However, I still miss some things from my life there.

When I was in college, Indian students were my nightmares for group work. Many of them kept silence until the previous day of deadline, and said they wanted to take part; some others would say at the beginning that they needed to work in the day so they had very limited time for the work and brazenly begged to slack off. Yes I came in through Toronto airport. I had similar experience but Las Las i was able to make it. The immigration lady was highly professional in her questions. Thank God everything I used in my visa procurement belongs to me, God was with me I was able to defend all smartly. Finally what I heard from her was WELCOME TO CANADA ?❤?

Im a 34 yr old Canadian and share the exact same view as you about this country. \nMy husband, myself and our tow kids moved to Mexico a few years ago, as well as a few friends of ours, and leaving Canada was like getting out of a toxic relationship lol Once you're out of the 'bubble' that Canada has created for it's citizens you see just how sour it has become. \nThat being said, we did move back to Canada to buy some land far north Alberta-only because we have small kids and want them to be around family-but if it was just my husband and myself we DEFINITELY would have stayed in Mexico. \nMexico feels safer, its beautiful there all over the country, the people have wonderful community and live life fully, the culture is enthralling, the food is BETTER in every way, the language (Spanish) is a fun element to life, and best of all-in Mexico, you are out of the censorship and the 'fear bubble' in Canada. You see it all over headlines, you hear it on the radio, it comes out of everyone's mouths in Canada-obsessed with 'safety' and everyone is terrified of living. Now that we're back we're very aware of it and do our best to ignore it and block it out. \n\nMoving abroad is a lot of work, but I would do it again in a heartbeat and recommend it. If you are able to, just do it.

This is my first time viewing one of your videos, Alina. You are inspiring! Thank you for your honesty, a reality that so many of us share. My family and I moved here 26 years ago with next to nothing in terms of worldly possessions. Our kids grew up here, went to university here and, working two jobs at the same time, we were blessed to be able to buy our own home eventually. We are proudly Canadian, but so much is changing that my wife and I are considering retiring elsewhere due to financial constraints (our home is our only asset). Thank you for the video.

Cherry on top are the income taxes. Cost of living is ridiculous expensive because not much is left in the bank after the government takes their part. I was able to build some wealth in Canada and left as soon I could. Being taxed 53% to live next to an injection site? Waiting MONTHS for healthcare? Not able to afford the expensive condos because the government took me half of my money? No thanks. \nLook at the US. Cost of living is still high these days but way more is left in your wallet. Canada doesn’t want anyone to build wealth. The system is really messed up. They want poor immigrants earning minimum wage in bad conditions.

A Sri Lankan who always gets misidentified as Indian reading the comments here. ? I moved here with the genuine purpose of studying for my LLM, after considering several countries. I was offered a scholarship from my university (a top ranking public university) I know several of my Indian colleagues who came to study & now work in universities & firms. I know educated people who came here from SL, India & other South Asian countries who came to study with the genuine purpose of studying & now pursuing PhDs here & elsewhere. I understand how concerned the whole immigration issue is for Canadians & new commers like us. I’ve always loved to study in Canada & now that I’m here just to see all these negative sides is truly heartbreaking. I was able to secure a decent apartment & decent job (both me & my husband)& so are my friends & colleagues. I love Canada & means no harm. As a Filipino watching the economy of USA from afar, I think that no other politician has shown significant concern to help its economy except for Trump. He's pretty bold and not scared to voice out issues that make the democrats uncomfortable. It is not for me to decide who others will vote. However, I see a leader in Trump and he's not afraid to fight back. It's only a matter of time for the Chinese to create its own microchips that are of novelty and prestige. Their economy is of course stagnant as of the moment because many foreign companies pulled out from China. Nevertheless, do you think it's going to be forever? They will cope and soon establish theirs given their population and government financial backing. Trump was right to put trade war against them to regulate foreign trade as it did with Japan. All countries will suffer when the dollar loses the international prestige. It is fastly losing it's international reputation as of these days. If this won't halt, imagine a future where the Chinese RMB will be the basis of international trade. You don't know the real plan of the Silk Road guys. Americans are conquerors and we have adjusted with their ways already. And, the Chinese are conquerors as well. Their goal is to really surpass the USA. The rise of China has benefited every ASEAN member, but greatly the former than the latter. We can adjust with their ways. However, America and Europe may not be that ready to adjust their ways for them should they surpass USA. The USA has become complacent and too liberal where individual rights, although important, have gone too far-fetched. This has created entitled individuals who think they own the world. Now, look at the Chinese. While most young Americans are busy dancing in TikTok and the likes of wasting time for entertainment, most young Chinese are studying hard and upskilling. Let's remember that America became great because of its inventions and extremely the nuclear power. Without great minds, minds that are feebled by drugs and misguided philosophies, a society will crumble. USA can use its weapons and influences against other countries, but can it hold the progress of it's rival economy for the rest of the years? You guys need a leader who is competitive and won't back down from a fight. As of these days, given only two political candidates to choose for presidency, I dare say that Trump has a higher bidding for the goodness of USA. Of course he wasn't able to accomplish his plan before after you guys impeached him. How the hell can a leader complete its plan after being halted unprecedentedly amid his administration? Kamala Harris looks promising but not convincing. Aura, although unquantifiable, do speak something. Choose your leader and it will choose your fate. Let's hear what the two sides will share this upcoming debate. If I'm American, whoever wins that debate, wins my heart. As easy as that. You see, if someone can be defeated so easily in his or her country through debate, do you think that whoever that someone who wins will be able to compete globally? Thanks Trudeau, soon enough we will be able to walk across lake Ontario, just like the Ganges. First hand knowledge here, while enjoying a day at a park, a Hindu/Paki or whatever they were numbering about 50 having a picnic/family get together, age ranging from 1-80 with 20 or so full grown men. Despite their being a trash can every 20 metres, and numbering 47 total in the park, the family left the garbage all over the ground and tables and left. The mess, considering 50 ppl you can judge for yourself. Now in our world if I call the law on them I am a racist. The Canadian way is gone, new arrivals think that we should adapt to their ways, not the new arrivals adapting to ours. Canada was once a great nation, no more it costs your whole cheque just for rent, then you need to work another job if you want to eat.

In france where I come from, we also have immigrants but strangely, we do not have issues with excessive rents (except in some areas of Paris) not do we have any issues with congested healthcare!!! This is why so many many of your newcomers decide to leave Canada after a few years… You Canadians have this tendency to “idealize” Canada sooooo much and from that way if idealizing (and not being able to meet what you say or advertise) comes the deception of many and those many skilled migrants to say “bye bye .. no thank you” to Canada!
