The Trudeau government was in power too long. The number of people they brought in to the country each year was ridiculous at best. Now that there are thousands of imported people who have absconded it will be next to impossible to get them the H out of the country. Nice go'in politically correct Liberal fools.

Not sure why this isn’t country wide. I came to Canada as a legal immigrant 40 years ago worked and paid taxes my whole life. Pains me when I see fake refugee claimants getting free dental while I pay through the nose. And many such injustices. Many fake refugees claimants say they are gay when they are not claim life threatened at home country but as soon as get documents run home for a visit…lThis government needs to stop making us hardworking folks pay for these abusers cause they want to be so called politically correct. As an American, I’m deeply sorry for what we’ve become by electing this orange idiot into the White House. I stand with Canada, Mexico, Ukraine, and the rest of our global allies in opposition to our “president’s” bent to authoritarianism and isolationism. Pls don't get me wrong. I love my president right or wrong. But Trudeau makes a very compelling point. This is not the smartest thing to be doing with these tariffs. Someone pls correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the reason President Trump brought the imposition of tariffs on Canada and Mexico in the 1st place was for them to do more about stopping the flow of Phentenol (excuse if spelling is wrong) into our country. I thought both countries have stepped up to do just that already. No? If so then why continue with this stupidness?

I do not know if tariffs or Trump's actions are the correct thing to do. But why can't the USA do 25% tariffs, if Canada has 65% tariffs on the USA? Why is Canada demanding the USA support them? Someone please explain it to me. And Trudeau could have picked up the phone and called Trump, this speech was not meant to solve anything. It is evident that comments like the one from @robertedward7023 demonstrate many, many people do not know what took place at the meeting before this meeting which should have made this meeting a simple signing of the agreement. VP Vance corrected Zelensky for his attempt to propagate his agenda and now that Germany, France and others--as NATO countries--have jumped in, there could be consequences resulting in war if they continue to push for it. As far as Trudeau, he is on his way out according to his own resignation and he has just done Canada wrong with the faulty reasoning. I thank all military veterans for their service, but I do not approve of what they say blindly.

The tariff war won't last. It will get ironed out in negotiations on other matters, probably in the form of tighter border restrictions, correcting some farm goods imbalance, and increasing tariffs on Chinese imports. Trump states pretty plainly in his order that this is for purposes of leverage, not punishment. I'd wager Trudeau caves to his demands within a few weeks.
