A vast majority of hotels provide room & board for immigrants where they have no bills to pay such as power, water, gas, tv, wifi etc as it’s all included. They hold a job working in the hotel that takes away employment opportunities for Canadians. I know first hand that some businesses such as gas stations will only hire immigrants - not Canadian citizens. All they want or talk about is PR, PR, PR. The vast majority of the policies restricting housing supply and increasing costs of new housing, like development charges on new homes to fund infrastructure instead of taxing existing property owners, onerous and restrictive zoning regulations, and slow and expensive permitting processes all come from the cities. Honestly, for many city politicians it is to their advantage to make the crisis worse. Why wouldn’t a city councillor vote to raise development charges on building new homes instead of raising property taxes on existing homes to pay for stuff like replacing life expired sewer and road and subway infrastructure!? His constituents aren’t going to care about the costs of new homes, which affect people moving to the city or younger generations, which are either not yet residents of the city or too young to vote.

It irritates me that Trump attacks canada for fentanyl and illegal immigration when its the other boarder that is the vast majority supplier.
