I am Québécois, and things here are quite different from the rest of Canada. For example, we have a law here that clearly forbids wearing religious signs when in a position of authority. Even a teacher, because they are a figure of authority for their students, could not wear the Roman collar, a cassock, a hijab, a niqab or anything else of the sort while in school. In the streets or any other public place, there is no problem at all. Everyone is welcomed to express their difference of culture or religion in the way they dress or in whatever other way. They are treated with the same respect and kindness as anywhere else in Canada. It is only that the separation of religion and state, and religion and authority is paramount here. Everybody is free and can express themsleves freely. But don't use that freedom to impose your views onto others. \nSo, when American judges are chosen for the federal court specifically because of their christian fundamentalist biases, it doesn't resonate well at all for me or the majority of Québécois. When the rights of the LGBTQ+ community are being questioned or jeopardised. Or a previous federal judgement like Roe v Wade is being overturned for religious reasons... it is a definite turn off for all of the Québec people to even remotely consider the United States as a destination to emigrate to (supposing that one would want to leave our beautiful country).\nMore and more, America, that used to be recognized as the land of the free, appears to be retrograde and restrictive and definitely not so free.

Step 1: Study at a legitimate school if you come here to study. 60-70% of the Indians, especially those from Punjab and Haryana study at these scam colleges attending bogus diplomas, often lured by agencies in India. How do you expect to get a good paying job with that diploma? Plus almost all these students barely speak any English. So you get automatically cornered to low-paying jobs at restaurants, fast food chains, etc. Working in the Canadian corporate world requires you to have the right skills and a good handle with English, which almost all these diploma graduates lack. I have not seen a single Indian student who graduated from UBC, McGill, McMaster, UVic, UofA, UWaterloo, etc struggle to find a job or get PR, and they almost always land good paying jobs.\n\nCanada has entered a correction phase. In the next 2-3 years, you will see a lot of these diploma students forced to leave the country.

The whole world knows the truth about non-assimilating Indian behavior. Either this reporter doesn't know it or she is in perpetual denial. At my son's school during the drop-off rush in the morning, Indian parents would always, I mean literally always, as in everyday, they would stop in the middle of the street so that the wife can help their child get off their car, all while blocking traffic. In doing so, their child will not be late, but making all the other cars' children behind them late. I witness this first hand, everyday. It's like they had an exclusive Indian meeting, all agreeing to do this during the drop-off rush. It's so annoying. If we honk at them for doing this, they would cause a scene and would call us rude and racist. When all they have to do is simply follow traffic rules and regulations so that all parents can smoothly drop off their kids on time.

I remember in Matamoros 4 or 5 years ago a group of migrants stormed the bridge. I was crossing to work on a daily basis at the time and had to cross the BM Bridge because Gateway Bridge was where these clowns staged their protest. In India the terminology would be more offensive, “lower class.” \n\nFor my graduation, I applied for my mother’s visa (my mother, who became a widow at 39, raised us under great difficulties with a meager pension of INR 350. She had not gone to school beyond 5th grade and she had no ancestral property, not even a red brick in her ancestral home. \n\nMy mother’s visitor visa was rejected and to this day — I am in my 70s now — it hurts me that she was not present when I received my PhD at Berkeley, one of the top-rated int’l universities. They rejected her visitor visa probably because she had nothing to show as her assets in her application. \n\nBut later. with me getting a job here as a research engineer in a large corporation, my mother visited the US five times. \n\nNot only that, even my older brother and sister in law got a ten-year multiple entry visitor visa when the came for my daughters wedding. \n\nThe point I am trying to make to your mostly upper middle class internationally well connected viewers is that visas are ALWAYS a privilege, never a right, no matter how well placed and well connected in your home country. Many degrees and diplomas either need to cut their superfluous fat, integrate cheaper online courses alongside their in school ones or find new ways to prepare students to the market to justify their existence. So many programs that have been cut have been proven to be fluff designed specifically to acquire PR or to make quick money. When Ontario finally reinvests money into Universities and Colleges it should focus on programs that will actually benefit both the student and the nation.

I do think India is gaining every way. And developing fast. India’s education system is. Nothing to sneezed at. Generally all Indian and Asian families who have come to Canada are always the top students in schools . But whenever there are economic problems, they blame it on immigrants instead of acknowledging their shortcomings. The politicians are quick to use the race factor to win elections just like in India or elsewhere. \nPrime Minister Trudeau and his liberal party are immigrant friendly yet India found fault with him because he did his job to protect Canadian Citizens. It will be worse if Conservative Govt. Wins.

I almost moved to the US with my parents when I was a kid but was crying because I didn’t want to go. I am so glad that we didn’t move there. We don’t want to go there for many reasons, free healthcare, a good education system because we pay our teachers well and have good quality teachers, we don’t carry guns and don’t want them, thereby our streets are safer. We don’t have mass murders, school killings and all that fear. We don’t have the racial and ethnic prejudice that there is in the US. I have travelled a lot for my company and personal to the US. I was scared and didn’t feel comfortable at all. We know so much more about US geography and history and the US knows nothing about us. Complete ignorance. Well I have no plans to ever visit again. I love our people, our freedom and our culture. We are nothing like the Americans (sorry). I am staying in my beautiful country! I feel safe and happy here! We don’t want the American dream, we are living the Canadian dream!

Every generation will have a very different life if they grew up in any metropolitan place. My grandfather came to Vancouver 1896. His family of five lived in garages while he built houses. No communication with the outside world. My father went to war in 1940's and experience things many will never see. He worked in Vancouver his whole life. My generation saw the first home computer, cell phone and color TV. and the internet was born. I was always taught hystory in school. My kids tell me , they don't know how people lived the last 100 years other than first nations people, and historical figures. Its not taught. They have no idea how people struggled to survive. My kids and their friends are fascinated by the pictures I have from the past 120 years in Vancouver. People now want everything. They are not willing to sacrifice life style. Even my own kids feel this way. Luckily i taught good values and work ethics to my 3 daughters , so they are very successful.

Shut them all down and send them back , driving the housing crisis, use of food banks driving the cost of everything up destroying the Canadian economy. The schools lied to them, not our problem, we Canadians owe them nothing.

At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. They're allowed to take only a rucksack and a little cash with them, and even then, they're robbed of these possessions on the way. Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared. Women return from shopping to find their houses sealed, their families gone.

Why is the government lowering standards and allowing too many students with fake credentials to enter the country? Does anyone know the real number? This is not a competitive market – these students work anywhere, anytime, for any salary, just to apply for PR. \nAfter a few years, they start sponsoring their entire village to come here. Just like everyone else whose birthdate was the same as Trump's, their lottery number was 356. The cutoff that year was 50.
