I see that we’re all still being naive. Telling Trump that this will hurt Americans is not a deterrent, that is the point. Read Project 2025, again Read Project 2025. That’s all it takes. Understand what its authors’ philosophies are. Think of it this way. We know that Trump is aligned with Putin, so what might Putin like to see for the American people? Success or Failure? Bravo Canada. I didn't vote for Trump and I can't explain why any American with critical thinking skills would. Yet many Americans voted for a bully whose main interest is serving himself and not those wo voted for him. I can explain why someone like Trump would want power - I can't explain why voters would want that person in control of their lives.

Canada has many problems and disadvantages which will need to be determinedly addressed in the coming years. However, we have one key advantage over our friends to the south, and one I hope that over time this will increasingly bear fruit: we are not governed by a fascist-adjacent government. Our only political party with policies resembling the American Republicans is polling in the low single digits.\n\nSetting aside the question of whether American Republicans are 'fascist-adjacent', the truth is that much of the world perceives it as such. Our economy is so tied to the US that I would not wish them ill, or at least not very much.
