The process is not the same as it was in the 80s when they did not require renewal every couple yrs w high $ and rules to return to home country for a set amount of time risking losing your home/job/business etc. Some renewal process for green cards have sped up but still takes 6-1yr and a new green card renewal and new one for Mexico can take 1-3yrs for approval. So someone that’s been here +20yrs will have to leave everything they have built here to go wait quite a long time. Its not if you agree how they got here, its what they have done in our country since being here. They add to our economy, +80% pay taxes to never get any of those benefits and they open businesses employing people etc. If they have been here committing a list of crimes then no i don’t agree but majority of immigrants don’t do that. I've lived here 6 years and can't wait to leave. Salaries are just enough to get by. I work full-time as an analyst and am looking for a minijob just to save money, which I already live quite modestly. It's easy to come across nasty unfriendly people, neighbors, service people, people in government agencies. I hate people staring in the most unfriendly manner or givng attitude for no reason other than they are nasty people. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people as well, but the bad experiences outweigh the good. Beauracracy is overbearing, personalities are underwhelming, the food scene is underwhelming, learning German is a big burden when you work a full-time job (and now I need a minijob too??). The country seems like it wants to diminish the human spirit and ambition. I definitely regret moving here. Many housing companies are over charging rent. I found out the company, Deutschewohnen, who owns my apartment was overcharging me by nearly double!! I had to go through a year long court procession to get them to lower it to the legal price which I won. And now they sent me a letter last month saying they are raising my rent, which is illegal and I have to go through ANOTHER court battle with them. Of course it is exhausting to try and find another apartment. Some people search up to a year. What a joke. And not to mention the dating scene. I've been single the entire 6 years and I'm quite an outgoing, friendly, loveable person. Dating Germans comes with own weird experiences and I refuse to give them a chance anymore, for my own mental health. If you're POC, it's not uncommon to come across strange sexualizations and general lack of understanding other's cultures. A couple years ago I was attacked by 8 men while walking home at night. I ended up in the hosopital and there was an investigation opened. The police asked me why they attacted me, which I didn't know since it was unprovoked. They just followed me for awhile, surrounded me and started beating me. The police said it was probably because I'm Asian. Meanwhile, I'm not even Asian!!! I'm Latino. ??‍♂This is the type of ignorance POC have to deal with in Germany. Also, I only have 1 German friend and all my other friends are immigrants (which I love) but this poses it's own frustrations because many people move here, then move away after a few years when they learn they can have a more fulfilling life elsewhere. So keeping long term day-to-day friends can be a challenge. The entire system is exhausting and there's not enough balance to bring joy to my life to want to stay. When I lived in NYC, an African American aquaintance had just moved there after living in Berlin for 8 years. She warned me not to move here because I will never feel I belong. I didn't listen. That was a big mistake. Germans can have Germany. I'll find my joy elsewhere. End of rant. haha

It makes no sense to go back more than 10 years. Start with those that have felonies, or don’t have a history of working. Work from the present, and go back. Give those that have learned English an easier pathway, but all who have a history of being law-abiding and productive get a pathway to citizenship. All of our troubles in Canada is due to very excessive immigration. Every single aspect of housing, education and healthcare could not absorb this unsustainable population growth. And llok at it, immigrants are not willing to give any money to income tax but they want the service sithout paying for it. That’s not the way it works. I’m a GenX and I bought my house for cheap in the 80’s. Now taht it’s paid off my cost of living is the price of housing taxes so about 300$ a month for a recent suburban house valued at 850k$. It is almost impossible for immigrants to buy a house like that. That’s why we not only need less immigrants but we have to make existing immigrants to leave Canada. Went through the pathway of studies-work-residency-citizenship\n\nLet me simplify the story for all of you guys here that lacks immigration intel. \n\n1) The quality of migrants you see here is not what Canada needs long term. It’s not a matter of ethnicity, but Canada needs to import talented and educated folks in medicine, engineering, trades etc. None of these individuals are interested in studying and are either attending 3rd grade colleges/universities to get a work permit and hoped to stay on. \n\n2) Shoddy sales tactics include lying or ‘avoiding stating the obvious’ that could make you lose the deal. This is exactly what the Canadian government did with these people. The Canadian dream was sold somewhat properly before 2017/2018 I would say. Post Covid there was a MASSIVE need of manpower in minimum wage jobs. The government could not afford increasing minimum wage at the time and international students would do exactly those jobs and bring in millions of dollars in tuition fees. The government opened the gates for these strip-mall colleges to take unprecedented numbers of students with allowances to work. These students were sold the exact same dream that a top quality University/college student is sold about Canada. They needed to be used at the time. And if they would’ve been told that their quality of students are only needed temporarily, they wouldn’t have come. The labour shortage at the time wouldn’t have been solved. So a CATCH 22 of the highest order. \n\n3) Canada CANNOT give in to such protests as it will set the worst example of migrant pandering for future generations. The best talent will refrain from entering Canada and more and more of these types of immigrants who do not want to assimilate to the Canadian culture will want to keep on coming.

My family came from Canada from India over 100 years ago we came over here legally we tried to assimilate I think what really bothers me now is that these new international students are giving all of us a bad name most of them cheat on their English exams back in India, and this is a known fact most of them can’t speak English and hence why they fail the colleges here expecting to be passed automatically. they work over 40 hours a week illegally and lie about it The government is subsidizing international students but they are taking jobs away from our students. We paid taxes my entire life and my son applied for over 100 jobs and got nothing because every single job is taken over by international students they are they are abrasive. They came on a student visa and were expected to go home. In the Ontario town I grew up in back in the 60's, most families had at least four children, most dads had factory jobs and most moms were stay at home moms. Most families owned modest three bedroom homes, kids played sports, had bicycles, food on the table and never felt poor. If you are under 30 today, the Canada you are in absolutely SUCKS by comparison. When I graduated high school in the mid 70's I could have got a factory job that paid 10k a year and bought a modest home for 20k. Now, in the same town, a person earning 100k needs about 800k to buy that same house. So, people under 30 are giving up on getting married, having children and buying homes. If you come to Europe illegally, you are welcomed, provided with food, shelter, there are programs to fit you into the society (which I am not saying is bad, but is someone doing something illegal). On the other hand, for a Doctor, that spent 8 years just university education, they put thousands of barriers and we just see the illegals already having an appartment paid by the government while we are making the line to pay for a medical license exam (that I needed to study 8 years to be able to apply for) and in german (that I needed to study another 2-3 years to learn + 1 year specific for medical german). I thought the whole concept of Canadian immigration is to seek new settlements in other provinces that are lacking population. I wonder if the government are doing that to put immigrants in those provinces and to build a strong Canadian society, with a strong-hold economically throughout the country. But that includes having the immigrants agreeing to setup bases in rural areas that needs a build-up. It's literally a settlers 2.0. But I see that as an escape from another place that has nothing. No is pressured to doing anything, it's just being transparent in what will happen. And in another way, the citizens of Canada will see it as giving into the country.

This is funny and intense. The root problem is the Canadian immigration problem. They know this will happen. they still want to give them study visas?? Why??? Because they need money and need that dollars. Also, the immigration lawyers use the failed system to cash. Once you let them in and things won't happen the the way you intended. This is what exactly happened with India when they let brits to India for trade. They settled for 200 yrs.

The only thing I would say cause you seem to be very young. Is that brampton actually in the 70's and to early 2000's used to be mostly a white and black community and then other cultures. I am born in Toronto I have a cousin born in Toronto who currently lives in brampton she owns a house in brampton for about 25 years. And is going through a lot mentally with the slamming. We got of people from India mostly in the last 2 years, but it's been going on slowly over 10 years and she's not doing well with the overwhelment of Indians and we're of black Jamaican heritage. I now live on the West Coast of Canada and the same thing has happened here. And it's been a lot for me Canadian born. I've always grew up with every culture. I've lived and worked around the Indians that used to come here were literally not even on the radar. I mean you see them, but you just they just blended in because most of them had assimilated and were doing their lives. They probably wouldn't stand out, but then again when you bring in almost a million, into all of Canada, they would stand out, but maybe people wouldn't be so agitated, if they had tried to assimilate and be respectful to the other cultures here and that is the number one complaint I hear anytime, I see interviews. Is people saying they don't assimilate? They're very rude to anybody who is not them. They are just interacting with the environment. The way they do at home, Canadians are more quiet and try to be respectful of other cultures. We like to just have their own space and our own peace when they're moving throughout this space and a lot of people describe the energy of the Indians coming in almost evasive into your space and then not really carrying anything about invading ur space. They act like, so what's the big deal if I'm in your space and that has been the number one issue is just the rudeness. Not assimilating and imposing their culture, speaking their language, not attempting to integrate with other cultures showing actually a lot of racism to some of the other cultures. And that has been the biggest problem. So just so you know, cause I can tell you're young. I'm North 40 years old and I can tell you. The demographic change has been so intense everywhere in Canada especially in the last 2 years. That I have even seen podcast with Indian people who have been here 10 -20-30 years, saying the government needs to figure out a way and get a good swath of these people gone because they are. Staining them with a negative brush. Cause I can tell you. It's only in the last 5 years. That I notice Indians. I've grown up around every culture. And I just don't notice individual cultures in that way. Until in 2022, Trudeau took the guard railsl off the foreign worker program and the student Visa working program. And just said Hey, anybody want to come bum rush the door now? And India is known for having middlemen in India that work with Fake Diploma Mills scholls with brampton having over 80 of them that the middlemen work scamming Indians by telling them if they pay anywhere from $5000 all the way up to $50,000 even higher to get fake school acceptance letters, so they can come here to get the word permit and work full-time or with companies that provide fake LMIA job offers on the black market, which is illegal under the I.R.C.C, but that is a thing that they had prior to 2022. And when Trudeau took the guards rails off when it comes the requirements and basically. Made it a free-for-all and as India already had the scamming infrastructure in place that kept their population moderate and it just allowed th scammers to go nuts, so that's why we got mostly Indians. Other cultures do it too, but it's so tiny. It's not noticeable. The Indians already had the infrastructure in place that when they took off the guard rails, it was easy for them to switch and start selling these opportunities to go to these fake schools was over 80 of them in brampton t such a lightening speed. Hence why we got slammed so hard-and-fast with that specific community.That just really we're coming here to work and send money home and that is also why a lot of our banks are now struggling with cash reserved because they're sending money home. So just thought I'd give you that angle. I understand you're doing it from your culture's perspective mostly but you're missing a whole bunch of information. Just Provide them the PR rather than hunting for new immigrants they are already here.Take a fee , make sure they learn something skill that Canada needs ,and then give time limit for the skill and then hand the PR.Canada is made by migrants.

Canada needs to tax from all their paychecks an additional 40%-50% international foreign student worker tax as a paycheck deduction. Canada needs to give that extra tax money to our unemployment and homeless Canadian born Citizens.

I was born in ?? and at your age Alina I left Vancouver and moved to Europe. I too saw no future and no way of having quality of life there. In the past 20 years I have watched ?? just fall apart and get worse and worse and it breaks my ❤️. One has to choose where life will be best for you and then give it your all. For me, by far, it was the best choice I ever made because the life I have now would never have been achievable, especially in Vancouver. People will tell you and you can tell yourself that you can just move back and visit all the time but in reality, that does not happen and you need to accept all the loss that leaving will bring. You will loose friend family and opportunity, people will pass friends will forget you and you them and Canada will become a memory in time. Why do I have to compete for jobs and working hours with citizens of India? I have a friend who works at walmart, she is Canadian and they only give her part time hours, the manager is Indian and gives priority of working hours to some one who has a work permit and has been in the country for less than 5 months. They are not a citizen or PR, we dont owe them any thing, they are no longer needed and should be sent back, and if they protest should be deported, protesting is a citizens right.

Not so acurate information. During the college time students can work only 20h/week. Unless it has changed. \n\nAlso, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get permanent residency before graduation because you need Canadian experience (full time) for at least 1 year in specialized areas. \n\nOnly if you successfully complete your program you get the full time work visa per 3y. In this time it’s going to be possible TO APPLY for permanent residence. \n\nBut not only that. Canadian experience give you extra points in the immigration program, but also a Bachelor’s degree, or a master degree, work experience in your back country, English level, and age. \n\nI don’t know for certain countries if the rules are different, but as long as I know, it’s the same for everybody. \n\nWhen I came as an international student, I had to prove the college was paid, also show I had enough money to support myself for 1y without work. Also, the program at college that costs $4000/semester for a Canadian student, it costs $8-10.000 for an international student. \n\nMy work visa (during college) allowed me 20h per week working only. \n\nTo get my study visa approved I had to show intermediate English, money, work experience, Bachelor’s degree (I have also a master’s), and explain why I wanted to study in Canada and why that program was related to my current career. \n\nTalking about jobs; I have worked as a housekeeper in a hospital (on weekends).
