Vancouver real-estate is essentially a money laundering operation for rich foreigners looking to stash their money somewhere. Protections were put in place a little to late back in 2016 with the foreign buyers tax. But honestly most of these foreigners can either be exempt from this tax with their citizenship loop hole (anchor baby) Or honestly they just pay the fine since they can afford it and just need to get their money out of the country they are coming from. Its quite dystopian because building more homes like the government keeps promising isn't going to solve the problem either. This is because its just going to add more to the volume of housing that the foreigners can buy up from the locals and adding more fuel to the problem. Immigrations Canada is lying to new comers. To top it off, BC just recently passed a law in 2024 where you can no longer build single family residences in the lower mainland area. WHERE are the families going to go then? Can anyone even afford a family anymore? Vancouverites like myself who were diligent and saved every penny are walking away from mortgages in droves because who wants to lock into a 30 year term amortization period where at rate plus prime your looking at 5.5%-7% where the bank makes more than double in interest from you. Over the course of 30 years you still lose because even if your property appreciates past double. Capital Gains will take into effect. Your loosing money no matter what! It truly is a nightmare designed to enslave you financially. This is simply wealth creation suicide. Came from immigrant parents in the 1990s, I slaved for 10 years during my twenties, didn't come from wealth, didn't party, didn't have fun, studied hard, and started a business and I still cant break into the Vancouver market. So I ended up just barely squeaking into the market in Abbotsford. Vancouverites as a whole are screwed. Time to pack up and move to Alberta I suppose. I will also preface by saying that most of BC is empty and that it would make sense to built outside of the Vancouver area as Vancouver has now basically become fiscally unlivable. It might make sense for the next government that come into power to decide to invest in building in other towns and cities around BC to incentivize Canadians to move.

Come to Alberta lol cheap living but here's the kicker you'll be paid a lot less in your field of work . Oh and rent in Calgary is avg. $1800 per month + hydro try making that work on your $15 -$18 per hour job

You guys need to consider making your politics less socialist. Quit whining, and move to Alberta or outside Vancouver, or anywhere up north. Lots of jobs, lots of money. Keep bringing in immigrants, have them build, like US is doing. If you do this, you can't lose. Really Canada can't lose in the future. In the event of a global calamity, it's one of only seven 'sancturary' states in the world, and it is by far the largest. Get rid of the carbon tax. You aren't Brunei. Take the long view; If Canada keeps supporting global warming, they can't lose. Be more careful giving away any more northern lands to the Inuit, that land will be very valuable soon.

People are only mad because of the color of the new immigrants. Don't tell me otherwise because if you do you're full of shit! Immigration numbers per year is around 300,000 and thats even if the PC's are in power. During Covid Canada didn't bring anyone in for obvious reasons. After Covid restrictions we opened immigration back up. Now the PC's are using it as a lets scare the white people in Alberta voting tactic. And of course the unimformed fall for it. Canadian, born and raised in Alberta. There is not a single thing about Canada I can say I am proud of. Our healthcare ISN’T universal. The major stuff is, but prescriptions, dental, podiatry, ophthalmology are not. It’s ridiculous that feet aren’t covered, but hands are.\nThis is because of the influence of our southern “neighbour”. America is starting to subsume our culture and our politics. My brother professor in BC was intimidated & harassed by these Indian students when he called them out for cheating and plagiarizing in his class ... All they do is cheat, steal and rob. I am disappointed by your video about Alberta it's not cheap to live here. You can't find even rent a room here unemployment is very high I believe 7.0 in June of 2024 people from Alberta don't live to help others they are selfish people I have ever seen. I’m from Alberta and everyone I went to school with in elementary was East Indian and Sikih and seems like everyone on south side were from that area. I’m born and raised Canadian and you don’t seen many in my area

But why is Immigration allowed in Canada at the first place. Do you guys know the reason? Thats because of aging population and someone was needed to pay for your retirement. So if Indians chose to come here and work hard why do you have the problem. Immigration is a point based system in Canada. If Indians are getting good points than other countries , is that problem? IRCC validates skill, experience, etc. if Indians have those skills, is that a problem? Not just Trudeau, what about conservative government province like Alberta? Why do they have PNP program and invite so many people? Canada needs immigrants as much as much as Immigrants needs Canada. Its mutual. I Don't think Indians are just surviving on Social benefits here. They are the most hard working people you will ever meet..

It's sad that so many Canadians have to move from their hometowns/provinces in droves to financially survive and get ahead a little. Unfortunately, the droves of people fleeing Ontario and BC are driving up prices now (to buy/rent) in other parts of Canada like Alberta and Atlantic Canada where this is having a trickle effect creating Albertans, Nova Scotians, etc. to be homeless and strains on their provincial healthcare systems. It's a sad state of affairs, and I do not think a politician can fix this, unless they start demanding more and curtailing the power of corporations. A big rebalance needs to occur, but it seems unlikely when politicians and business leaders are on the same side (aka corruption / conflict of their own interests). Canada needs a division between government and business which is the case in many Scandinavian countries.

I have lived in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and now Alberta. Toronto was beautiful in the 60’s and 70’s then it started to change to what is now overcrowded, expensive and crime ridden. I would not choose it anymore. Winnipeg, Manitoba in the mid to late 80’s was lovely. People were polite especially in winter, when driving was challenging, friendly and it is very cultural. People would say it would be the best city in Canada if it was in the mountains. Now I live in Edmonton, Alberta a dirty city with a council that puts high priced, unaffordable recreation centres ahead of services that would benefit everyone. Now they want to increase the population to 2 million when it can’t afford to sustain the existing population of 1,568,000. The taxes this year have risen to 8.9% and house prices are expected to increase 6.5% for an average price of $458,000. I lived in Calgary, in the Fish Creek provincial park area close to the C-train and a good bus service to downtown. 45 minutes from the mountains and Kananaskis, great zoo, vibrant downtown and if it is not much more expensive than Edmonton and is ranked 7th best city to live in worldwide. To compare the 2 cities, Edmonton tries to be world-class but just doesn’t have what it takes. The people seem to have very little pride in their city, the parks are a mess of weeds which also grow wherever there is green space and they very possibly have the worst and rudest drivers in the country. Very sorry if this offends anyone.

As a Turkish living in Alberta temporarily it’s not my business talking about economy, housing crisis or drug addiction since I am only here for a year. But I must say someting about the hospitaly and friendship. As an introvert I can’t believe that I have so many good friends here. Canadians are really talkative, generous and friendly. And I am glad I am going back home with so many good memories that made me feel like home.

it's not just Brampton on. it's the same here in Alberta, there is whole communities where everything is for them , you can't even look at some neighbour hoods for housing because all the realtors are Indian and the sales are only advertised on their sites in their language and not for sale to Canadians. its a big community where we live and were being pushed out.. There's jobs we cant apply for or get because we don't speak Punjab but yet we have to bend over and are told we are racist if we don't hire them and they cant even speak English. I feel like we are being pushed out of our own country, and Trudeau has even said this is what he wants...

I disagree with the comment Alberta is a cheaper place to live in..the cost of living here is very high, I wished people making these statements would know all the facts, we have so much oil but pay through the nose for gas, so don’t anyone, get the idea\nThat it is cheap in Alberta, winter is very difficult.

Now it costs 10000 dollars to get a class one drivers license in Alberta. If they just enforced the law to begin with there would not have been an issue. The guy was not trained properly and there are lots more not trained properly. Now there is not enough truck drivers which costs us more for goods. He should have never been behind that wheel to start with.

Yes I was born and raised in Canada and just moved to Alberta in a small brand new community and it's all Indian culture with all the houses worth anywhere from 1 to 4 million dollars and I'm the minority living and renting a basement Suite LOL. Why are the three most expensive places in Canada the top three. Many immigrants have left Canada to go back to Europe because those three are too expensive. I would suggest Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba would be better places to start living in Canada.
