Romanian here, with 8 years in Germany, still debating if a citizenship is worth the effort though I use German both at my work place and for regular tasks. \nMy opinion is that Germany has a chaotic approach to absorbing skilled workers. \nI agree completely with the statement that this approach led it to absorb, far more easily, unskilled and, a lot of times, problematic immigrants rather than skilled professionals. I see this happening in communities and online groups. This also contributes to social and political backlash. \nCombining economy issues, social backlash, decreasing purchasing power and pressure on housing, Germany is becoming less attractive by the hour for skilled workers.

My Sad Feelings to the German Peoples and No merciful for the corrupted Government of Germany. If the Government is bad ? that is mean due to of corrupted corporates of technology manufacturer around at Germany. Which always proud to announcing that we are developing the world. But unfortunately it seems they forgetting to developing their interring world. However , I felt some Positivity about the new candidate Ms. Alice today at the live interview podcast with The Chief Mr. Musk. And I believe may Germany will going to be back great again. Actually it is soo true. I have considered german for my education because it is less expensive than USA but I don’t see my full life in Germany because of language barriers and not promoting other nationals in higher positions. Go to USA you will find half of the top CEO or engineers Indians but come back to Germany and you won’t find many, this is because Germans don’t usually promote other nationals in managing positions higher than them. This is not welcoming so folks it is better if you come for your education, gain some work experience, explore europe as much as you can then move to USA and build your own home and raise kids, again push them to come to germany for free education of bachelors and masters ?

Before asking skilled people to come to germany, better tell your fellow germans to have good intention toward the the immigrant, as they are Racis.! ?

I'm an American, married to a German, and we live in the Southern USA. We spend over a month each year in Germany and Europe. I will say that when it comes to making friends, Germany is far easier than in the Southern US. People here are closed off and absorbed into their own little world (there are exceptions, of course). I've had some bad experiences in Germany but overall have found the people to friendly and welcoming, especially in the North.

The list of recommendations you suggest at the end seems very sensible. Senhora Thaiza deserves a medal for the extra work she does in explaining the reality of living and working in Germany to nurses in Brazil. If she's not paid for that, that should be part of the support programme i.e. support by immigrants for potential immigrants. She's much better placed to do that than most Germans. As a former immigrant who has been a Canadian citizen for over 40 years I am mindful that too many immigrants get into the country too easily - not like in my time when I had to actually qualify to come here. We, the older generation (including immigrants), helped to build Canada, but the newcomers just come here to take what they can. There are too many new immigrants who should not be here in the first place, and they have no intention of assimilating. What a mess!\nI have to ask you a question, though. What if the high influx was from Sweden or Germany? Would you still be that interested in the story?

Canada needs to do like:\nAustralia (after graduating, go home, strictly no staying!!) or Germany (after graduating, go home with government gave plane tickets money) !!!!!\nPS: take care of your Canada citizens first!!!!

Germany have to follow middle eastern system

Germans have small circles of friends that they have known probably their whole lives. Outside of those circles they are generally friendly but superficial. They aren't being necessarily unfriendly or even racist. It's just the way they are. I got lucky in that I knew a German au pair and when I served in the US Army in Germany she pulled me into that circle. Otherwise I'd have been on the outside looking in.

I lived in Austria n Germany for long, but I never felt or heard foreigner! They treated me equal to themselves. Mind you I had dark hair n eyes, n olive skin color. They didn't find cultural differences in my behavior or food. Actually, I was respected n valied even more than average. They didn't know where I was from, unless they asked. But my look made them guess I was Spanish, South American, or Iranian which they liked. But they were really judgemental towards Turks, Yugoslavs, n others.\nI'm talking abt 1970s to 1990s. How is it now, I don't know.

My wife is a doctor by profession (neurologist) - they tried to persuade her to move from Germany and Norway to work and live in Germany and Norway, but we stayed here in Latvia and after several years we have realized that it was the right choice where to live and build a life for ourselves and children. :) In Germany you have to speak German and that's how it should be.

Germany as a society never bothered to learn what is like to live with foreiners. The society doesnt think or care about learning or teaching reapect towards different culture. As a German national who married a Chinese national, we have left Germany more than 8 years ago.\n\nWe left because:\n\n1. Income opportunities and career opportunities in Germany in my line of work (IT) were mediocre.\n2. Taxation (including Sozialabgaben) was unacceptable. Services available in return were mediocre (e.g., waiting more than 4 months to get an appointment with a neurologist). The pension system is one large Ponzi scheme.\n3. Building wealth and owning real estate on a single income is basically impossible.\n4. My Chinese spouse faced frequent discrimination and racism in everyday life - in Hamburg, which is supposedly known to be modern, diverse and open.\n5. The German weather, culture, lifestyle opportunities and attitude was not attractive to us. We felt trapped and limited. We wanted to have more freedom.\n\nWe've been living in the US Pacific Northwest since and are very happy here (and a lot more successful with our economic goals as well).\n\nGood luck in Germany!

If i look as a german guy , you can rent a house in calgary for 1200 € brand new , if you look here in germany you rent a appartment with 4 room's you pay 1300-1400 € (2338 CAD) without extra costs. I pay 3607 CAD only for energy for 4700 kWh for a year.

I would be much more likely to move to holland, or New Zealand if I ever moved. Maybe even Germany. Our system has been abused for too long. My mom worked as a nurse's aide in a hospital for many years. This was in south Texas. I remember her telling me that Mexicans (with money) would come to have their babies here and then go back to Mexico. When the children were grown they could come and live here easily. I remember it pissed.me off. It didnt matter if they paid for the delivery. They were still cheating our system. I'm all for denying these people citizenship. We should follow Germany's example.

It's funny, but I moved from Russia to Germany in 2019, believing that it was a rich country with cool jobs. During a few years of living in Germany, I understood that I have less money after taxes than in poor Russia. Besides, the prices of everything are higher. 1000 Euro is enough to live in Russia as well as 3000 Euro in Germany. I'm not joking. Germany is just a good picture, but you will struggle to live there. And I can't image how I could buy an apartment there. For a flat in Berlin I need around 300k, but from my 72k income I could save only 10-12k. It could take the whole adult life to buy a flat. That's unacceptable for me

Yes greed. I heard some homeowners are renting their basement? Because of demands for workers (to live) it's OK. In Germany basements are for your old stuffs even If your house is brand new. In Canada, I think, everything is like gold. Even sad and lonely small towns some are renting there. Many are depressed and crazy because of loneliness and cold/ bad weather. The world is big to explore. Use your common sense!

I am sri lankan dude born and raised in germany. I work in a company where most are german. They are quite respectful , funny and quite sensitive in terms of racism, homophobia etc. I even hang up and party with them in freetime. The work life balance is insane , much better than USA. If u r sick u r sick , no one dares to question u. All that because of Young People they r different than the older ones in public services etc. . So if u get into a good company everything will be fine. I know its hard...but thats they key.

As a russian who raised in Germany i can say its impossible to close friendships with germans if you are not familiar with them since kindergarten or school ?I ve spent 25 years of living here and got only one german friend, all other are foreigners who raised in Germany like turks, russians, greeks and so on. My advice would be , come to Germany for economical reasons, but go to England or Spain if you care about social life.
