I'm a proud Canadian, and I'm very proud of our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. We did not want this trade war, but we fully support it. We have been attacked and blindsided by our best ally and friend. Things will never be the same between us! Our former relationship is over. Personally, we have canceled a 3 week road trip to Florida, we will not buy american products in our grocery stores or pharmacies. You have made a big mistake, America. You will also suffer, as will we. But we are tough and stubborn. How dare your gov't try to wreck our country after how we stood beside you for 100 years through 2 world wars, plus Iran hostage crisis and 9-11, among other events. We will not forget what you have done to us. All this, while you kiss putin's ass. You are disgusting! ????????

As a Canadian, I may not have agreed with everything Trudeau has done in the past 9 years. However he’s handled this American threat with class and dignity and I’m proud of our response. American/Canadian relations will never be the same. After all of this is over, there is a lot of apologies and healing that has to happen before we can even start thinking about rebuilding this relationship.

Canadian from Alberta here. I'm very impressed by our Prime Minister today. He was speaking intelligently, firm, and showed great leadership. Way to go Justin, you showed Trump how a person in a leadership role should conduct himself.

I'm Canadian and I highly dislike Trudeau. But he is correct when he asks how do you negotiate with someone who wants to annex your country? I’m a Canadian and no fan of Prime Minister Trudeau. It’s unfortunate the best speech he ever gave was after he resigned as Prime Minister. What he has said in this speech is absolutely true, despite the fact, I think Trump is doing some good things for the USA. This Terrif war with your neighbour is stupid. Unfortunately for us in Canada our Prime Minister has not given us the tools and freedom to grow economically and prosper the way we should have. Canadians should be living like Kings, but unfortunately are living paycheque to paycheque because of the stranglehold that our Prime Minister has put on businesses and its citizens. Now Canada has very little leverage, I believe to fight this Terrif war. Canada has become a pure Cradic nightmare, like the previous administration in the United States were overtaxed over regulated and spend money like drunken sailors on stupid things that don’t help us grow and prosper.

I’m am Ukrainian Canadian and over the last few days I see how the new US government’s policy ruining everything we all believe in so dearly: democracy, friendship, helping shoulder to those who needs support against the bloody dictators, and firing thousands of people without cause who provided cybersecurity, guarded fairness of your elections… all being flashed down the toilet. And I watch it being replaced with bulling those who is bleeding, stabbing the friends and neighbors, singing praise to the war criminals charged for crimes against humanity with unlawful deportation and transfer of 20,000 Ukrainian children into russia. Children?! And I want to ask you a question: will you be a silent bystander watching the world plummet into the hatred, redivisions of borders and the rule of heartless convicted “deal makers”? I think I know who he made the deal with... And to those who voted for him: do you still believe this will lead you and your country to greatness?? One single fact that both Moscow and Beijing celebrate watching what’s happening should raise your eyebrows and question your decision to bring this man into power. Instead of making America great again the fight for saving America just began. God help you and all of us!

As a Canadian I’m still not clear on how counter tariffs help Canadians? Won’t this just make things more expensive for us? Shouldn’t we just realign our allies for imports/exports? Can someone help me out here? Don’t tell me it’s just because we need to respond in kind so not to be ‘bullied’. You’ll need to do better than that. Seems like only governments win in tariff wars - not their citizens.

I come from a long line of Canadian’s, I’m not a fan of Trudeau but I have to say he made me proud today standing up to the school yard bully. In a best case scenario, DJT will rescind the tariffs on Canadian goods. In the worst case, we get even poorer. If this happened after Trump became president the first time, the economy was strong from 4 years of Obama's presidency. Then COVID happened, and for alot of folks here, they haven't recovered financially. Savings and retirement plans are gone. Rent is higher, for many it takes over 50% of their income. So in this emergency time, there's nothing to fall back on. Oh and DOGE will cut SNAP benefits, I'm sure. That's food stamps, meant for the people struggling. It's becoming more and more of Americans. \nAm I depressed? No, I lived through Reagan's presidency. I'm cautious about life, my job, commuting to work, putting food on the table. I'm gonna try growing veggies. I already eat 75% of my meals at home or taken from home-cooked meals. I'm saving as best I can.
