Family immigrated there in 85. Back then my parents needed to prove and bring certain assets as part of the requirements. \n\nNow it seems they don’t really care, just come in with nothing, and the first thing to figure out is how to get the gov to pay out to sustain.\n\nHow this change came about… got no idea. \n\nAnd when looking at it culturally, that has changed as well. Being Chinese, we brought along our traditions. Those were celebrated and introduced to other Canadians, and it was a joyous thing. That being said, Canadian culture should come first and foremost. That should be understood. You are living underneath someone else’s roof, you should learn their culture and accept it. If not, why are you there.\n\nNowadays, it feels like it is a right to alter, and place your original culture above that of Canada’s. That’s just weird. Why did you move there in the first place if you can’t accept and get along with everyone else there.\n\nI decided to move back to Hong Kong because I didn’t like it, and for people that feel the same, get out of there. People that want to stay in Canada should be contributing, and live like a Canadian.\n\nProud to be Canadian, but it feels different now. Only hear crimes and homelessness, drugs… gun violence. How things have changed in these past 25 years or so.\n\nI do hope the gov wakes up. But yeah, not betting on it. Wish my fellow Canadians the best of luck. It’s a pity that groups fighting for this issue is being called racist. Utterly ridiculous… the power of the western media. ?

People voted for Trudeau falling for his promises to the LGBTQ, legalizing Marijuana, Medical Assisted Death, and women that want to continue having the freedom to get all type of abortions. People didn't even read his proposed agenda where he clearly said that people will own nothing and be happy. Now people are realizing what he really is up to, destroying the Canadian economy. Now most Canadians are paying the price of their vote without deep knowledge.

I work with an immigrant from India. He came here 15 years ago to get away from the people in India. He didn’t want his children growing up around the people in that country.\nNow he says we’re bringing many of the people here now and wonders where to go now.

On arrival he was given a list 5 A4 pages long of things he COULD NOT DO in that country. He didn't complain and abided by that. One Westerner broke one of the rules accidentally and literally had to leave the country taking nothing with him. Why is ok to enforce culture one way, but not the other? That's your problem. There's an agenda here.

The migrants are coming from Canada to NYC because they want to be safe? Of course not. They are coming here for free stuff or to make money.\nIn principle NAFTA means that Mexicans shouldn't need a visa to enter the US, but obviously given the poverty there, that's not an option. Context:\n\nAround a year or two ago driving back home with some friends after visiting Niagara Falls, we were pulled over because my car’s headlights were off. I didn’t stop immediately when they turned their police lights on because I didn’t think I did anything wrong but did eventually pull over after realizing they were indeed trying to pull me over. \n\nAfter I pulled over, two officers quickly got out and one of them rushed to my passenger side mirror and very aggressively yelled at me, “why didn’t you pull over” etc. I was very surprised by his reaction and quickly explained that I was a fairly new driver (about 6 months of driving experience at the time). He went away for a few seconds to cool off and later apologized for his behavior (very respectable).\n\nMain Focus:\n\nNow, the interesting part is while the officer was cooling off, the other officer wanted not just my ID but everyone else’s’ in my car as well. I still to this day do not think that is normal, however, I haven’t been pulled over enough to confirm that. Anyways, some of my friends didn’t have officials IDs on them but they did have their student ID. The police wanted that as well. They took a long time to what I assume, conduct a very thorough check on everyone’s ID, making sure nothing is suspicious and everyone is from America. The whole encounter had to be around 20 to 30 minutes long, it was very very long. \n\nTakeaway:\n\nFrom what I experienced that day, I strongly believe that people were at least crossing the northern border around 1 year ago and most likely even earlier. There are bus services that go straight to NYC from Buffalo which is right across the border from Canada to the US. However, I’m not sure if you need ID to use those services. \n\nFor those who read this comment, use this information however you will, I hope it helps even just a little in making some sort of change. \n\nHopefully, there won’t be an increase on how long it takes me to get past border patrol to Canada and back ?. I also hope that our taxes decrease because too much of it are being payed for services to aliens when some of our locals are still stuck in the streets.

Complaining about Canada's policies and how they impact the US overlooks the parallel behavior in which NYC is sticking it to the rest of the US for God-only-knows what reasons. If NYC didn't want to be the new Ellis Island - With-Benefits, it would immediately end its sanctuary and soft on crime BS.

As an Indian who was born and raised in Canada (immigrant parents from 1994), one of my favourite things about being a Canadian has been finding my own path as a citizen. I still love my culture but if I wanted to be in India, I would have just chose to move back. My parents came here to give me a better life and opportunity. I have fully embraced that. It frustrates me to no end when I see other Indians come here and disrespect the country that is giving them freedom. Canada isn’t your personal frat party to act like a public disturbance. I have proudly adjusted to Canadian culture and I associate with it more than I do India, and I always will. My parents didn’t give everything up and move here just for me to pretend I’m in India. \nI hate that I get lumped in with this mess sometimes.

Let’s be honest you really think when whites go to other countries they adapt and simulate into that culture? ?look look at Britain when they conquer India did they assimilate into the Indian culture? I believe India is the best country to stay because:\n- Rents extremely high in developed cities . Property prices unaffordable in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata. People are paying life long EMI till death.\n- Teachers focus more on Private tutions to make money. If you don’t take lessons from them, they will fail you in education system \n-Government doctors more focus on Private practices than their Government jobs. In ICU doctors sometimes sleep because they are tired for their private pactices.\n- Court takes decades to settle court cases. \n- Extremely high inflation - Food prices uncontrolled \n- Retirees not worked for Government getting hard time to pay bills specially medical treatment cost. It’s really hard for them to stay in big cities. No Indian government help and support. Government basically don’t care them. Only big big words at the time of vote \n- middle class working upto 11 pm to save their job , no retirement money- just surviving \n- After completing MBA, lot of job seekers land in selling target oriented credit card selling and driving Uber/ Toto \n- Ministers have so much under table money they keep their money inside the walls of their property \n- Sides of Highways full of Poverty . Getting an appointment for any doctor is a headache.\n\nI had a small rash, and i wanted to go to a dermatologist but didn't get an appointment after 3 months, and it spread so much that i was admitted to the hospital as an emergency patient. Vancouver real-estate is essentially a money laundering operation for rich foreigners looking to stash their money somewhere. Protections were put in place a little to late back in 2016 with the foreign buyers tax. But honestly most of these foreigners can either be exempt from this tax with their citizenship loop hole (anchor baby) Or honestly they just pay the fine since they can afford it and just need to get their money out of the country they are coming from. Its quite dystopian because building more homes like the government keeps promising isn't going to solve the problem either. This is because its just going to add more to the volume of housing that the foreigners can buy up from the locals and adding more fuel to the problem. Immigrations Canada is lying to new comers. To top it off, BC just recently passed a law in 2024 where you can no longer build single family residences in the lower mainland area. WHERE are the families going to go then? Can anyone even afford a family anymore? Vancouverites like myself who were diligent and saved every penny are walking away from mortgages in droves because who wants to lock into a 30 year term amortization period where at rate plus prime your looking at 5.5%-7% where the bank makes more than double in interest from you. Over the course of 30 years you still lose because even if your property appreciates past double. Capital Gains will take into effect. Your loosing money no matter what! It truly is a nightmare designed to enslave you financially. This is simply wealth creation suicide. Came from immigrant parents in the 1990s, I slaved for 10 years during my twenties, didn't come from wealth, didn't party, didn't have fun, studied hard, and started a business and I still cant break into the Vancouver market. So I ended up just barely squeaking into the market in Abbotsford. Vancouverites as a whole are screwed. Time to pack up and move to Alberta I suppose. I will also preface by saying that most of BC is empty and that it would make sense to built outside of the Vancouver area as Vancouver has now basically become fiscally unlivable. It might make sense for the next government that come into power to decide to invest in building in other towns and cities around BC to incentivize Canadians to move.

I think it is government's fault for bringing people here, so we should point our anger correctly. So to be clear they think they have rights. Think they can demand anything. They are guests in Canada. Guests. Not Citizens. Canada owes you nothing. It’s time to leave. Used to be if you wanted to come to Canada you had to have a certain amount of money! I think that should be the case as well as also educated. Australia had a point system and its very hard to immigrate there, we should have that too. Lets stop dumbing everything down! Immigrants come and they come from 3rd world countries and they then offer their serves at lower standards. I used to house clean, I was a single mom with 3 kids and I made a good living. I lost a few jobs to NANNIES who were hired to take care of kids only and before I knew it they were cleaning the house and I was let go. Now those nannies could have just looked after their kids. They didn't even get more money to clean the house. Screwed me out of work and gave them selves more work without more pay! I see it in the Massage Therapy industry too, they post rates a lot lower than the going rate! Janitor serves, truck driving, all are being dumbed down and lower quality! Franshises all being bought out and having major health issues with food quality...dumbing it down to their country of origin!! Im so sick of it all.

My sister's husband was sent to the USA for his job. His company wanted him to work down there for a while. He got a 5 year work VISA. They paid taxes in the US, and it didn't give them the right to stay forever. They paid income tax and property taxes. She wasn't allowed to get a job so she renovated the home they bought, and made a profit when they sold it. So after his 5 year Visa was over, they moved back home up here. Just because people contribute and pay taxes while they hold a work Visa, doesn't give them the right to stay once that Visa has expired. MY SISTER AND HER HUSBAND HAD TO LEAVE THE USA AFTER HIS 5 YEAR WORK VISA EXPIRED. LAWS MATTER!! OUR CANADIAN RULES MUST BE ENFORCED TOO!!!!

in 2018 the government was saying that no one is taking min wage jobs. They are vacant and that sector is having a hard time filling in positions. The locals didn't want to work min pay jobs. They rather go serve tables for the extra tips. So they brought ppl from abroad to fill those positions. Now everyone is crying. The current narrative is all fake and made up. The locals never wanted to work those jobs.

You could go other countries for study but chose Canada because it is banana Republic and you know you will get PR after some small bogus course. Australia don't even give PR to people who studied there unless they study the profession which they need. I like to go to Japan and live there so I will go for study there and then demand Japanese government to give me PR??? government is not saying no to you but government wants you to study the profession which is needed not fast food servers, security guard and truck drivers because for these jobs people are already here in Canada in tons. And when you saturate the labour market for these unskilled jobs then the corporations would have upper hands and they will suppress the wages and the living standards of everyone will go down. So don't try to become victim here I know you are Punjabi and I am from third world country too these tactics are old to become victim. Go study skill trade and build home for Canadians and then the government will give you PR no doubt. But you pendoos Jut came from Punjab villages and can't study hard subjects and looking for easy ways to get PR.

Sorry, but I didn't know 'so many people' were leaving Canada. In fact, my European friends living in Canada, LOVE Canada. Their number one reason? The government is for the people. Their numerous benefits, programs and services (employment Insurance, child benefit, pensions, benefits for housing, student aid, family benefits, grants and funding opportunities, disabilities and their recently implemented dental care plan), says it all. Sure the cost of living is high, but where isn’t? Especially after covid and especially if you want a decent quality of life. Their car insurance and phone plans are also expensive but they're getting better. Stay out of the big cities if you can't afford it. There are other parts of Canada that is affordable. \n\nBtw, the healthcare industry, particularly the long-term care sector is a good place to earn a decent living. They are always looking for RNs, PSWs etc. \n\nIn the end, the positives outweigh the negatives. Besides having free healthcare and the many generous social services and benefits, Canada is also a progressive country with strong social policies, including gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights and environmental sustainability, (we’re drinking out of those gross cardboard straws now. Hello?). Then there is our natural and breathtaking landscapes, our four seasons, our excellent education system, diverse communities, friendly people, our cool festivals (The Calgary Stampede, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Caribana, Toronto International Film Festival, Just for Laughs Montreal, Pride Toronto are a few that come to mind), our great air and water quality, strict gun laws, legal cannabis… I could go on and on.\n\nIf you're able to afford living in Canada, consider yourself fortunate.

Well duh. Is this even a question? My kid is still in school but knows he has no future in Canada anymore. I know I can't stay once I retire either. My other kid just hates it here and wants to leave. That's 3/4 of just one family who won't be staying. We didn't feel like this 10 years ago. Trudeau has destroyed the futures of most Canadians.

As sad as the incident is, I don’t get the hate. The fact that this man acknowledged his fault, pleaded guilty against his lawyers advise shows that he is remorseful and didn’t want to put the families through the nightmare of court. He could have pleaded not guilty and won because there is no way they would have been able to prove the charges, especially after the govt cut down trees that were obstructing road signs, after the collision. I feel badly for this guy. He's being deported while his family is here in Canada. He's served time and I don't feel as though this was any kind of homicide. He was a novice rig driver.
