I am a born and raised Canadian and have seen my country go downhill for at least the last couple of decades.\nHealth Care: doctors and nurses are moving Stateside in droves. No, the US doesn’t have universal health care but there are insurance plans and the care is enormously better. My girlfriend had 4th stage throat cancer. In Calgary the doctors at some point told her there was nothing more they could do for her and to get her affairs in order. Her father sent her to the Anderson Clinic in Houston - yes it was expensive but they treated her, saved her life and that was 24 years ago. \nIt’s common in our emergency rooms to wait up to 12 hours to be seen. \nOur system isn’t progressive and doctors and nurses don’t get paid near as well as in the States. That being said, I am happy that I don’t have to pay to see the doctor or have a stay in the hospital. \nCost of Living: Once upon a time it was good - housing was cheap and many companies had the full range of benefits and salaries were equal to the cost of living. Now these same companies have stripped the benefits by hiring people under contract so they don’t have to give them benefits. \nRents are through the roof and in Calgary there are no rent caps. Buying a decent house in a decent neighbourhood is impossible unless you inherit or make a six figure income. This, in no small part, has created a homelessness crisis that never had been seen in such numbers before. Crime also is getting worse by the day. Canada was once known as a safe country. This is no longer the case.\nEverything is very expensive and the tax very high. Plus, we have to suffer winter! Where I live, the joke is that we have two seasons - July and winter!\nI still like my city (not love) but I am retired and own two houses - one inherited and the other bought when it was affordable (32 years ago). Calgary would not be a place I would live if I was a newcomer. Vancouver is beautiful but you really pay for it. \nTrudeau has helped make a big mess of things with immigration and lax criminal laws. My beef is not with immigrants I must state - it is with the lack of jobs for them when they come, thereby forcing bad living conditions and an over reliance on the social systems. I add that the immigration population is much more willing to work in jobs they have to take (despite a high education) than our natural and bloated citizens.\nSo yes, Canada has increasingly gone downhill. On a positive note, hand guns at least are not legal and our country has beautiful natural land.

interesting I live in the US, and we have the same problems here homelessness, drug overdoses, and high taxes, some states have higher taxes than others, home prices are skyrocketing, and no new homes are being built. no new low-income housing. Just a real shortage in housing period.. Yet, we have gotten so many immigrants from all over the world flooding here. I can't understand why they come. We have terrible medical care. This is very telling and confims what we already knew. Many students are NOT here to study. Most are not. The student visas, which the liberals hand out like candy on Halloween, are simply an easily abused way of getting residency. And the liberals fell for it all hook line and sinker, letting in millions of students who will never leave, and who will then bring in their families as part of the liberal unification. This was their plan all along. Let's face it, Canada does not have an enviable education system. Why would an Indian student pay all that money to come to Canada to go to school, when they can easily get the same education for almost nothing in india? Back door immigration tactics. My kid just started college. His classes were of course stuffed full of international students on the first day or two. Now they don't come at all. They didn't come to Canada to study.

when I came to the west 10 years ago.. for immigrants that was a opportunity.. we stayed on our best behavior and often out worked citizens and always gave our 110%. the amount of stress we took to keep a job, to stay in college and work 40hrs job on the side... the extra hours we spent at work to just give our best. all my work is for nothing.... its like the govt has spat in our face and opened the flood gates...

I've lived in Canada for the past 40+ years - most of my life - having also been born in Eastern Europe. We are also strongly considering leaving this place, which is NOTHING like it used to be. I don't recognize any of its values or culture anymore. We are also looking at Eastern Europe primarily. We shall see. All the best to you!

I am an Indian studying abroad and we had our international study tour to Germany. Before our tour we had a cultural briefing session where they made us aware about the cultural norms especially about Hitler. The Prof. who conducted the briefing sessions specifically told us NOT to mention anything about Hitler. Despite this session, I remember one Indian, when we we had our time off in Germany after lectures, this Indian in the middle of the road went and did the famous Hitler pose. And I was embarrassed to the core. On top of this when I tried to intervene the person was laughing and jokingly said ' See nothing happened to me the Prof. was wrong'. I felt like I should sink or just go and jump in nearby river. This was so embarrassing No wonder people don't like Indians. Additionally, Indians who are following all rules and regulations also gets branded like being obnoxious.

I too am an immigrant, but I feel like the country is being overtaken by India. There's nothing wrong with immigration if controlled properly, bud sadly this is not the case with the Canadian government, and it is getting out of control. I live in a beach town in Ontario that up until last year was a nice place to live. Now when you go to the beach it is 90% Indians, and they are buying up all the businesses to cater to their own kind and if you aren't Indian, you stand out like a sore thumb!. Sadly, having lived in Brampton since the late 60s, I have seen it happen and I feel that it is becoming another Brampton! I have a relative that lives in Brampton and is very experienced in the medical field, but cannot get a job because they don't speek Hindi. Come on people! I lived in Canada when I was 5 years old. I don't remember much from when I was 5 years old but I remember the feeling of home Canada gave me. I was happiest in Canada and my family felt safe and grateful to be there. I left Canada in only a year though cause we went there to study English, and I was very sad because Canada was the best place ever for me. I've been to several countries but Canada always had me in love. I was planning on going back for college and living there, but when I realized the state Canada is now, I was heartbroken because it looked nothing like the amazing place I had lived in years back. I'm still very sad about this and I pray the Canada I used to know will be back one day so that I can return to the place that was the closest thing I've ever felt like home.

My family came from Canada from India over 100 years ago we came over here legally we tried to assimilate I think what really bothers me now is that these new international students are giving all of us a bad name most of them cheat on their English exams back in India, and this is a known fact most of them can’t speak English and hence why they fail the colleges here expecting to be passed automatically. they work over 40 hours a week illegally and lie about it The government is subsidizing international students but they are taking jobs away from our students. We paid taxes my entire life and my son applied for over 100 jobs and got nothing because every single job is taken over by international students they are they are abrasive. They are entitled, they cannot seem to understand how assimilation works. They are so entitled and they feel they can protest out in the streets when they dont get PR. They came on a student visa and were expected to go home. They are now complaining and protesting at this point they all need to be sent home because this is ridiculous, PR should be handed out as needed not automatically and right now there are so many Canadians without jobs so we don’t need more workers. I also work in healthcare most of the students or their families come in don’t have appropriate healthcare and we end up paying millions of dollars in healthcare bills because of them, we have had families come visit their international students with no healthcare having strokes costing us healthcare workers and the government over $1 million. We don’t have the infrastructure for these students to stop. The government needs to stop subsidizing. The government needs to stop handing out PR like they’re handing out candyscamin India and here charged enough is enough. I will def be writing to my politician

in canada my rent has doubled in last 5 years. Food price has gone up 4x, gas price at all time highs, but min wage, or pay from jobs has not gone up at all. 5 years ago I was able to barely make a little bit of savings, but now, I spend all money on bills, and have nothing left over to save. I never eat out, go out, do any activities, I work and sleep and play video games, and no matter what I do, I just cannot save anything.\n\nI got really hard jobs like running gravel in a wheel barrel, and moving, and I get the same pay at these jobs as I did like 20 years ago.W ages ARE NOT going up at all but all bills are.

This is an honest video and I like that. I moved to Canada in 2010 and I moved back to Europe in 2021, so I am a Canadian immigrant and citizen now. I personally don't blame the Indians, I worked with people from India and I love a good tikka masala. Only Trudeau is to blame in Canada. But in India there are people who scam your Indian students, telling them they could go study in Canada and then become citizens and this is why now Indian students are protesting, because they realize they have been lied in India. So Canada is not to blame for this incident. Students must understand - they come to another country just to study, then go back home. And everybody must understand - when you move to another country, you must learn the new country culture. The Canadians must not adapt to the Indian culture, the Indians must adapt to the Canadian culture. I remember when we came to Canada they told us that if we do a crime, we would be deported back to our country. And now so many people do crimes and nothing happens. This is wrong. My point is - the main blame goes for the government, but some blame goes for the new Indian migrants too.

The funny thing is trudeau caused this issue and it's only years later he realizes he has to reverse it. Everyone that has immigrated in the past 5 years should be deported. We do not need 3 million immigrants in the span of 5 years. Those from India are like any other immigrants. They're trying to find their way in a new society with different customs and rules. My parents came here in the 50’s from Italy and were discriminated against in the same ways. As first-generation Canadians, my brother and I were discriminated against because of our heritage in school and then in our chosen careers.\n\nIn general, Indians are hard-working, well-educated, English-speaking and entrepreneurial. In general Indians benefit Canadian society.\n\nI became friends and eventually best friends with my neighbour from Punjab. He came here with nothing and became an educator for children with special needs. He had two master's degrees. One from McGill University and one from Cambridge. He was involved in our community at many levels. We spent most evenings discussing life, and society issues and even worked together on a campaign of one of our local councillors and won. He had a positive impact on all who knew him. Unfortunately, he passed in 2012. RIP Rupinder Jeji. You are dearly missed.

I have nothing against them working but also make sure Canadians come first and foreigners last but what I don’t like is the government covers a % of there wage and the employers pretty much bank all there profits and Canadians have to pay this out of there own tax dollars, take that out and let the company pay 100% of the wage, they hire them for a reason and not Canadians because they don’t have to pay out of there pockets entirely to pay the paychecks it’s the Canadians that do out of there own tax dollars, and if maybe they actually payed a decent wage they would also get more young Canadians to work but hey business is business

The recent wave of Indians coming to Canada are NOTHING like the previous ones. They have caused this themselves. I always wanted to visit India but based on the behaviour I have seen by indian newcomers has made me change my mind. Even driving is worse here with all of the aggressive drivers bringing up insurance rates.

University professors are mostly Indians that are impossible to understand according to my sons. Went to an Indian veterinarian that caused my dog to bleed from three of the four nails he cut before I could stop him and will never go to any Indian practitioner of any kind ever again. Indian at a local shop ripped me off at the checkout. Local falafel restaurant made me very ill. Later heard they don't wash so will never eat at any Indian restaurant again. They drive like they own the road and think nothing of cutting you off or running stop signs and lights. They look at you with contempt and have zero respect for females. They do not maintain the property they live in. A city house close to where I live has weeds growing out of the eves trough for the entire area around the drip line of the roof, garbage everywhere and grass/weeds to your knees. Indian students going to private colleges owned by Indians that have no merit as far as there degree are concerned. It's a scam for them to reside here. It's a scam from day 1. Go check if private college is the same as a real Canadian college. What's not being addressed is how temporary foreign workers were once relegated to to agricultural and fisheries work but are working for many exploitive employers who care about nothing more than having the lowest payroll, mainly fast-food and retail. These are entry-level jobs that many Canadians needed to survive but are being undercut by foreign cheap labor. These jobs used to pay the bills. \n\nGlobal News only showing agricultural workers and not Subway and Tim Hortons franchises shows what side of the issue Global News is on.
