When I was growing up in Canada, hearing of someone being a “Proud American” was something I admired. Today it’s a punch line to a joke about the American education system. They have nothing left to be proud of, and I’m so thankful to be from this country instead. Trump administration or not, the American people can not be trusted to vote in their own self interest, let alone the interests of the allies that stood with them for the last century and who have lost lives sending men and women over seas to answer the American call for friendship, justice, and loyalty. I think it was Margaret Thatcher during the Reagan administration the one who said, Americans are notorious about choosing stupid presidents. So, what to say about that? What I've heard from some of my friends is that they don't care if democracy is gone as long as their taxes go down. They want a lower income tax bracket. They're very single minded about issues. We'll see how we fair once you have to pay more at the pump, when the price of electronics go up, when produce and beef, pork, and chicken become unaffordable. Yes, the middle and upper middle class probably don't care, but the lower classes and the already poor are not going to be happy. Once people are hungry, then you'll see people on the street. Because, if the tariffs have the expected consequences, trade between both your countries will decrease, meaning less trucks on the roads, meaning less fossiles fuels, less production, less consumption, meaning less emissions of CO2. And Ukraine, without a navy, destroyed 40% of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Even the flagship Moskva!! 3. But the most powerful weapon that the European Union has is the Almighty stable euro. The United States has been printing trillions of dollars and exporting them for years, they’re hiding under the mattresses of Third World countries for a rainy day.
