Can someone tell me if Canada is a good place to move for a couple of years? I'm from the UK but lived in Spain for most of my life. The reason I want to leave Spain is because the average salary is low and job security I.E work contracts are all terrible unless you're in a big city like Madrid or Barcelona. Plus I live in a tourist/ retired destination so work here is seasonal as we are only busy over the summer time and trying to meet people around my age 20, 30s is difficult. I've heard so many good things about Canada from people I know but looking into some more I'm seeing that there's a big financial issue for those who plan to move over as the taxes are very high. I'm just looking to come over for a couple of years, save some money and then move back to the UK. If anyone that has travelled to Canada for a few years could let me know what its like now that would be great ?.

Hello! When i came to Canada in 1997 the minimum wages was 8 dollars, and the cost of a home was around 200000. Today the minimum wages is 15 dollars, but he cost of a home is about 1 million which is 5 times more than 1997.\n The wages has only doubled. So you are telling me that Canadian people are doing better now than in 1997. People in this country are going backwards instead of forward. There is a total imbalance of wages and home prices.

My friend is from Mexico who came to the US legally and has been a border officer for many years now. He has a very hard time telling Mexican migrants that they cannot enter the US illegally. But the law is law and it is the same if you enter Mexico. It's just a matter of Mexico doesn't have many opportunities for jobs that pays well and it's a better life in the US. I grew up with migrants all of my life. They worked 3 jobs for many hours per day but would rather have that than go back to Mexico - with no job. If Mexico had a flourishing economy, I feel migration isn't an issue. But then there's history - California belongs to Mexico but someone sold it to the Americans long ago.

America needs to tell them all no U can't come into the United States because houseing,food, clothing isn't free. Nothing is free in the United States for you or us America's. + No U can't enter the United States no more for at least for the next 20 years from this year. Because U leave ur county to enter the United States and you 's don't ever change ur life. I moved to Canada from the US a few years ago. I lived in the US for over 30 year and the US government is a JOKE. Congress never got anything done regardless on what party is in office. If you're gay or trans I wouldn't move to the US because it's been very dangerous for that community especially in red states. The US still can't get better gun control to stop all of the mass school shootings yet and they think TikTok is the main threat right now. You can see where their priorities are. You can tell I moved to Canada due to political reasons lol Sure the cost of living in Canada are higher and I had to get adjusted to colder weather, but it was the best thing I ever did and I would NEVER move back to the US any time soon.

I always thought Trump was being dumb when he said, “they don’t send their best ppl” until I moved to Mexico and cross Paso del Norte once a month. Every month I take a bus up to Juarez and I ride with these migrants, and let me tell you something… they’re not all women and children. About 60-70% are young LITERAL thugs. I didn't have any issues finding a doctor. And let me tell you more: I had a special requirement of having a Doctor who could speak Portuguese because of my wife, as she couldn't speak english at the time. I found a first doctor with absolutely no issues. In fact, after a couple of months I didn't like him very much, so we went ahead and found another one very quickly as well... Maybe I'm lucky.

I have mixed feelings about this. I feel like a total first letter of the alphabet-hole for not thinking of helping right away. When I lived in San Diego, it was a palpable daily reminder. Lots of people have cross-border lives. Family, work, home is on either side of the border. Now living up in Washington State, it's different. Here the border with Canada is all about preventing Canadians from stealing technology from us while allowing them to work for us. Some partners who come visit us often times get searched for technology. Like pen drives, samples, etc. It's a totally different story. Canada probably has less homeless than all of south America. It's an easy claim because literally, if you can't insulate your self in winter you go visit the great gardener Jesus and his weirdo multipersonality disorder. In south America, you just need to eat and not get eaten by things. So the result is that people survive way below the poverty line. Then, the big lie tells them that the US is better so they come over to eventually learn how the others found the three headed gardener the hard way. I feel like maybe if they got a tour of the country and learned how shitty it is to live here too, they might think twice about coming over. There are periods and ways when the US opens it's borders but it's looking like a real shit show right now. We don't have enough jobs and not enough houses to house everyone. At least in south America you can live in the family house and no one bats an eye. People help each other in poverty.

All people living in countries with nationalized health want to continue the lie that it actually offers quality service. There is so much proof everywhere that this is not true. Canada is a perfect example.\n\nAs someone who worked for the largest hospital chain I can tell you that 30% of our revenue at hospitals we owned along the US northern border came from Canadian citizens. It kind of makes you wonder, if Canadians get amazing high quality free healthcare, why would they drive to another country to pay for it? \n\nThe truth is anybody in the countries that have socialized medicine that can afford to, ops for private care. That is a fact worldwide that nobody likes to admit. Long waits to get treatment. Long lines once you get to the facility. Piss poor quality care by people who hate your guts because every one of you has entitled lightest coming out of your ears. But why shouldn't you… you've over paid for the shit your entire life and now it's time to use it so you think you should be treated like royalty.

My favorite beggar story in Canada was when I was in the Future Cafe in Toronro. (Best bread I ever had was there.) A guy came up to me and asked for money. So I being young and stupid pulled some money out of my wallet and gave him some, he then proceeded to lecture me on how to help a pan handler. He told me to tell them no, leave, get the money out of my wallet then come back to them and give it, that way they do not know where my wallet is. (Lol) My most unfav. was 8 months before when I first went to Canada and was at the Toronto bus station. A man asked me for money, so I gave him the last few dollars I had. (Seriously I even held up my wallet and showed him it was my last few bills. At that time I was leaving Canada for New York and didn't think I would need them ever again.) Another man who saw this exchange came up and asked me for money, before the other guy had even left. I told him I had just given the last of my money to the other guy, and he proceeded to yell at me calling me a liar and even pushed me.

Visiting family in Brooklyn when i live in the UK was a major shock to me, to see how segregated the neighbourhoods were was like going back 50 years in time. I'm light skin black and had people looking at me funny on Flatbush, i got back to my relo's and asked wag1, they tell me id be perceived as a Latino... Driving to New York, we go through the Jewish quarter and i see no one walking the streets except dudes with tall hats and squiggly hair... like woah bruh, now i understand why America is so stuck on race and division. It was mind blowing to me, i couldnt imagine how some of these ppl would feel coming here to the UK, theyd be best mates the local off license Sikh owner and talking about the coof with their Turkish barber in 1 day.

As a dual citizen, there are so many things that's incorrect about this video. First of all, to make it an apples to apples comparison, I see no attempt to adjust the comparison by population. There is no point comparing Montreal (where I have lived) vs. Columbus, Ohio. Montreal is roughly 1.7 million people or 4 million metro. The correct comparison would be something like Boston. Similarly, there is no point comparing Montreal vs. LA in terms of geographical spread when LA is more than three times the size. So of course your commute will be different.\n\nComparing Montreal to Boston for example, Boston is very very compact. Yes, Montreal does have better food options than Columbus or your random rural suburbs. It doesn't come even close to similarly sized American cities. It's the same reason for example that one doesn't compare San Francisco for example, against London, Ontario. It's a pointless comparison.\n\nAdditionally, the claim that the worst part of Canada is better than the best part of America is laugahble. There is no truly terrible neighborhoods in Canada compared to American ones (where you can tell if you're in a bad neighborhood), but Canadians can't even imagine the wealth and prestige of the best parts of America, let alone compare with it. The wealthiest don't live in downtown New York (where they maintain their work residence), they live in Montauk. They don't live in downtown Boston, they live in Newton or Weston. The most affluent parts of Canada like Bridle Path/Rosedale (Toronto), Westmount (Montreal) or North Vancouver would look like abject poverty by comparison.\n\nOh, let's not also forget other factors for being in the US. The median household income in Canada is $67,000 Canadian. The median for the US is $69,000 US. The typical American is far wealthier than the typical Canadian. He had threatened to pay the unreasonable fee over 10K for the unfinished contingency case, withdrew the amount anyway from my credit-card, and refused to provide the case files to me/client, while OLRB Vice Chair had ordered to cancel the hearing after interrupting the direct negotiation with the opposing party; they all refused to share the records of communications that had occurred without my knowlege/presence.)\n\n[Residential Tenancy/Public Health&Safety Case]\n- Punished by the system for requesting the property owner to eradicate health hazards (toxic mold, pests, and dusts) from my living space in a residential rental property; LTB proceedings was biased and unfair, interrupted multiple times when I spoke and suppressed the use of my evidences in the hearing (e.g., a letter from a medical doctor, warning the danger of continued exposure to toxic mold), downplayed the risks of exposure to asbestos/lead and the obvious contraventions of the laws [OHSA, RTA, and municipal Property Standards by-laws] by the property owner; LTB suggested the [former] Tenant to pay for the order reviews only to decline those reviews; LTB's selective omissions of evidences that are inconvenient to the other party/ the property owner; my basic human rights were clearly violated -- no response from LTB, Tribunals Ontario, nor Human Rights Tribunals; the property owner, municipal Property Standards office, and LTB have colluded, needlessly delayed the proceedings, and closed the case after 2.5 years without issuing any order against the property owner’s contraventions of the laws, while I had continued to suffer from the prolonged exposures to health hazards (I have paid the rent in full for over a decade without any delay, even during the Covid lockdown, out of my retirement savings [I was not eligible for the government financial support during the lockdown -- no income, but some retirement savings]). From my traveling experience… i can tell Americans got more spending power than canadian… most of the time i met canadians at hostels and cheap hotels ? I think you ladies are way out in left field and you really don't know what you're talkin about. Unfortunately for some people it doesn't work out for whatever reason usually because they do not want to assimilate very well. I grew up in Ontario to a french-canadian father and an Italian mother in my life in Canada was so perfect said if I had to dream up a better life I could not have done so. I grew up playing all the sports and enjoyed all the different sports and the changes of seasons. My parents had a summer home on the st-lawrence river and every summer we water-ski swam fished, play golf in the morning and barbecues every night right on the water. Even though my grandfather was in the hotel business I was all about sports and enjoying everything about it. I grew up in a town of about 50 thousand about 40 miles from Montreal. When I wanted some great nightlife just drove a short drive to Montreal and it had everything did anyone could want in Nightlife. I have lived in United States for forty years and I can tell you that it really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Heaven forbid should you get some kind of catastrophic illness you are screwed. I knew a woman who work for travelers insurance for 30 years at the best insurance a money could buy had suffered a couple of strokes and was on the verge of going broke had she not died when she died. People think that insurance continues to pay his long as you're ill and nothing could be further from the truth. This lady was going to have to sell her house to continue paying for round-the-clock care had she not died when she did. United States middle class is getting wiped out. I've seen enough poverty and hardship in this country to last a lifetime. I find greed to be running rampant in this country. When I grew up in Canada there was always the grass is greener on the other side and when I did move over to the other side the US that is I can tell you unequivocally the dead grass is not greener on the other side. There are more millions and millions of people here that are one or two paychecks away from being homeless. And we're talkin 2023. Now let's talk about violence. There is a mass murder in the United States every single day of the year. And a mass murder is defined by four or more people being killed by one person at one time. Killing these so out of control in the United States that now even six-year-olds are shooting their teacher. I find a tremendous amount of built-up Anger from people. Food is very expensive and shelter is also out of control and non affordable to most people. Again I find United States being able to paint a much Rosier picture then does really exist. And there are more con artists and thieves , Crooks, con-artists, bamboozlers, cheats and scammers then anywhere that I've ever been. And I will say this is it it ain't getting any better and I don't see it ever getting better. I find it is everybody out for themselves no matter who they cheat. I live in Southern California and I can tell you that night life where I live is non-existent. Understand that LA and Hollywood they always have to glamorize everything to sell it to tourists. Just remember that things today are not what they were 40 years ago. Middle-class people in Canada would also be just middle-class people in the US. But if your life means anything to you as far as safety and raising a family then Canada wins hands down end of discussion. People that say Canada is boring is because they are boring. That's what I found to be pretty standard across the board. Life is what you make of it. But I will say that you gals definitely need to move away if you don't like Canada. Do not let the door hit your ass on the way out. And just for your information Canada ranks annually as one of the top countries in the world to immigrate to. Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and next to Saudi Arabia has the third largest oil Reserves in the world. Canada has huge amount of freshwater which most of the rest of the world seems to be lacking and having spent my Summers on the Saint Lawrence River one of the Great Rivers in this world. I am an American born in NY, raised in VA. I also lived in Van Nuys for a year, also lived in Texas before my job industry moved me to Canada. \ni have been in Canada for 7yrs, been to Vancouver, Toronto and MTL and to be honest i like a lot of things in Canada like the health care differences and of course the lower insulin cost for my husband but i still want to go back home. If anything i would stay in Toronto because it's the closest similarity to home but where Aba and Preach live, in Montreal, it's literally been my nightmare. I feel like the tap water at least in my area has gotten worse over time. \nOne thing i feel like they didn't mention that I have to tell people from America to watch out for is the credit card vs debit card thing. \nI grew up only having debit cards because i didn't want to get into debt. when i came to Canada i continued getting a debit card and realized the hard way that not everything accepts debit cards and you NEED to also have a credit card to access certain things.\nbut overall i do feel much safer in Canada even though the crazy trump lovers are showing up here and there it's significantly less than i see when I'm back home.

Well I want want I wouldn't be surprised by their tap water point but at the same time topwaters like different in almost every state because I live in the Bay and I can definitely tell you at least in the San francisco-oakland areas in Hayward areas the tap water isn't bad but in every other surrounding area one of the ways I know tap water is bad is when I wash my hands and then my hands look dried out

Living in the projects in Phoenix, I didn't see segregation amongst the communities but coming from that experience, I feel it would've been for the best. ? I've gotten into so many fights with Blacks, Whites and Chicanos in my day and it all stemmed from me being a paisa. Tbh, I had a lot of hate towards those groups in my heart for the longest time. I can't tell you why they segregated now but man would I have benefited back then if it were ?.
