In Canada, there is a lot of divisiveness between our conservative and liberal political parties. But what is incredible is how much support Trudeau holds in this trade war conflict . While his reign is nearly over, nationally all political parties have come together (in majority numbers) for a unified approach. Trump has single-handedly ostracized the United States from the rest of the world.

Canadian here. We helped America in 1980 by saving American diplomatic staff from captivity in Tehran. We suffered the loss of Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan. This is how we are paid back. The Trump Regime won a election with just 1.7% of the vote. Trump is becoming enemy number 1 in the free world. Stand up Americans against this horrible MEGA regime before your freedoms and liberty disappear.

As an American i dont want a trade deficit with canada. Get even or get crushed buddy. We move calculated, dont think our administration didnt crunch the numbers. We WILL figure it out without you buddy. Your people would travel down to the states to shop for the past decades. What does what say?

American farming is genuinely screwed without Canadian potash. The number of American citizens who will starve is going to increase drastically. Trump is Literally raising the price of food.

The stock market has no connection to the American economy. Our GDP stomps on the rest of the world, check the numbers.

I mean he’s certainly well spoken Im sure we all can agree but factual….not so much. People do your research on Chinese Triad gang members buying up real estate in Vancouver to launder money from drug sales. There is no doubt a growing problem in Canada that is impacting the US. By the numbers Canada illegal border crossings and Fentanyl crossing volume might pale in comparison to Mexico but it’s important to note that it’s still a rising problem they’ve yet to fully understand. Look at how much of the Northern US border is unguarded compared to the southern border. This tariff war between the US and Canada is no doubt a problem but Canada is absolutely a part of the reason it exists. In the end please remember there’s always two sides to every story and mainstream media is anything but objective when it comes to how they cover them.

Many people seem shocked that the US is acting this way towards its “closest ally.” Let’s not forget that in the days and weeks following 9/11, when a town like Gander, Newfoundland took in thousands of Americans when airplanes were grounded, the US was initially blaming Canada for its lax border and immigration laws in allowing terrorists into the US. They even suggested a number of the Al-Qaeda terrorists in those airplanes had entered from Canada! ? We seem to be an easy target for our ‘close’ friends sought of the border.

Trudeau has produced actual numbers to support his claims.\nTrump has yet to show the fentanyl numbers.

But they overlook the number of Americans who lose their lives to fentanyl.

Why they are no Starbucks in Canada only Tim Horton that’s why you have this tarrifs ???

I can't stand this guy's ridiculously liberal approach in general, \nbut - unlike rapidly polarised fools around the world - I am not beholden to any destructive political ideology. \nTrudeau is right about this. He deserves credit for this.\nTrump and his obsequious brown-nosing number 2 deserve nothing but derision.

I've seen the trade numbers.\nU.S. buys a lot more from all these countries than they buy from us....everything combined. Make that make sense. \nIt's time we trade equally and some folks are upset. Make that make sense.\nIf friendships matter, why don't we trade equally?

Looking in from the UK Trump has just gone 100% rogue for the west and 100% for Russia. By splitting USA V Canada V Mexico trade which he signed of in his first term he has now supplied Russia with the split they wanted. USA power has always been the number of allies it has around the world now it is splitting from them and joining Putin which makes Putin very happy. America is weaker and that is just dandy for Russia China Iran and North Korea President Che will be moving forward with his plan to attack Taiwan and then watch America as it has no computer chips for all the industries tied to super computers cars planes ect.

CNN, is there a reason why you are not equally posting Mexico's response to Trump's tariffs? Mexico is the US'S number one trading partner, and these tariffs will equally effect US consumers. There are now apps that translate from Spanish to English, and subtitles in English that appear at the bottom of the screen. As have been done with other languages on your program

Great speech from Trudeau, he is on his way out as prime minister and has been unpopular but no doubt he has had his finest moments lately. I wish Canada and a number of US states and sane US citizens could form their own nation or even a union at least. We'd be better off, anything is better than now. Americans will get hit hard by this too, so dumb. Trump is a fascist and brainwashed a cult called MAGA.

This from a man who has openly made fun of Trump & his policies on live T.V thinking . \nHave just seen numbers from USA border showing more Fentanyl coming into my Country from the USA then Fentanyl going into the USA . Same numbers for immigrants so do not know what Trump is talking about.
|

This is due to a number of US citizens having been duped into voting for a president whose interests absolutely do NOT lie in the US!

●Canada less than 1% fentanyl comes thru Canadian border. Canada doesn’t make any precursor drugs for fentanyl. Tariff 25%?\n\n●China -99.5% of precursor drugs needed to make fentanyl come from china. No regulations. Tariffs 10%??\n\nMost should know that the fentanyl coming thru Canada is less than 1% If your wondering where the other 99% is coming from, know this- china allows the sale of the precursor drugs needed to make fentanyl, and it's unregulated. They suppy the mexican cartels these drugs to make and sell which comes across Mexican borders into the US. If china regulated the precursor drugs it could stop fentanyl manufacturing in its tracks. Again 10% tariffs vs 25% tariff. There was a time that china cooperated & worked with the US on this but have since stopped.\nSo whatever is going on with the trump administration, it's clear by the numbers this isn't about fentanyl with Canada. Especially since he didn't extend the same tariffs to the country that could actually stop the making of this horrible drug.

Says the guy that told Trump when asked about the number one way the United States could hurt Canada would be through tariffs. PS - Oh no, $155B. What is that, like 4% of US imports? We will be fine. Go rip off someone else and fund your own defense.

Trade War: a situation in which two or more countries raise import taxes and quotas (= limits on numbers of goods) to try to protect their own economies. From Cambridge Dictionary
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Justin Trudeau's drug policies in Canada have been a disaster and now he pretends he is concerned about Fentanyl [a member of the class of drugs known as fentanyls, rapid-acting opioid (synthetic opiate) drugs that alleviate pain without causing loss of consciousness (analgesic). Fentanyl depresses central nervous system (CNS) and respiratory function. Exposure to fentanyl may be fatal.] going into the United States. He is a lame-duck Prime Minister on his way out of political life let alone public office as Prime Minister of Canada. His poll numbers were miserable and he was not supported within many in his own cabinet because of his divsisive decisions with Alberta, female MPs and hypocritical and harmful actions and words as well as broken promises to the Canadian Tax payers.

Hypocrites are our Canadian politicians and Governments- Provincial and Federal, as they allow Canadian Companies to off shore numerous services and jobs - such as IT (software development) and get no benefit in return, except for big profits to CEOs and shareholders. So a huge number (over 900,000+ - see Kings College report) of young Canadian graduates are unemployed, yet the Federal Govt. keep fast tracking immigrants into Canada. Canada is failing as a country; our governments fail to keep their eyes and ears with Canadians.

Trump is SO easily manipulated by Putin and others. All you have to do is tell him he's the victim and that he's very smart and he'll do anything you tell him.\nHis narcissism, greed and emotional retardation are destroying the USA. The number of Americans too idiotic to see it is frightening.\n\nPutin must be pissing his pants laughing at how easy it's all been.

CNN is a true propaganda machine. I don’t know if it’s intentional to help drive the numbers up on the right. But it’s working. Keep it up. \nPeople have internet access and take trips around the world. This shit only works on people that don’t come outside and solely rely on cable tv.

No it is NOT hard to believe this is going on. When you elect a criminal who floats the rule of law and the Constitution, this is exactly what you should expect. I don't believe for one instant that the politicians in the Republican party and a good number in the Democrat party did not see this coming, althpugh the Republicans who anticipated it wanted it and the Democrats didn't.

Trudeau’s a liar. He once said confederates were causing trouble in Canada.\nTrump is trying to broker a peace deal. You have to use diplomacy with Putin.\nCanada always had tariffs on the US. Trump tariffs are for a reason.\nYou should have dropped your tariffs you always had on us.\nBy His own admission He did not increase the number of fentanyl stops.

This is the most unnecessary and potentially damaging move by Trump, as Europe can in theory become self sufficient in the defense sector but a trade war with the number 1 ally is hilariously bad.

The job loss is on purpose. Trump and Elon want the Federal Interest rate to go down and the fed won’t do it without job numbers going down drastically. Canada is playing into Elon and Trump’s hands. The job losses will help them borrow more money to destroy Democracy with and replace it with a techno-feudal system that will make us envy Soviet citizens ??

Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. But one more thing Americans don’t get is that before this fateful day an unofficial boycott against ALL US goods has been growing since tRump insulted Canada’s Prime Minister and threatened Canada’s sovereignty—whereas Canada’s official countervails ( which only kicked-in today )only target certain US goods, not ALL of them like ordinary Canadians are doing in growing numbers right now—in fact, the imposition of tRump’s tariffs today has only made the unofficial boycott bigger and more organized. It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. And there’s a federal election approaching when all partisans will be one-upping each other in the patriotism department—which manifests in more boycotts of US goods and hospitality services.\n\n Americans should know that the unofficial boycott is more harmful to US exporters than the official targeted countervails because it features immediate and longterm diminishment of Canadian purchases of US goods—all retailers know it’s very hard to recover lost customers once they’ve found alternatives (and the added patriotic effect only makes it worse). Included is diminishment of Canadian visits to the USA. Indeed, the internet is replete with testimonies of Canadian”snow birds” not only forgoing their annual sojourn in the Florida or Arizona sunshine but also of selling their properties there with the parting shot, “I will never vacation in the US again!” Already Mexico has seen its visits from Canadians (who have had a modest presence in Mexico for years) surge to unprecedented levels. I know from much-welcomed temp Mexican construction workers in BC (where I live) that they view Canadians completely differently from our mutual US neighbours—and now that affection is growing like never before. \n\nI’m continually amazed at how uninformed Americans are about tariffs—and misinformed by tRump and his goofy, preposterous, and ridiculous fantasy of world-domination. When tRump uses the lame excuse to implement emergency powers —that Canada is “allowing” (as Vance puts it) fentanyl to “pour into the USA”—it’s tantamount to saying Ukraine started the war with Russia. The man is a tendentious liar and narcissistic megalomaniac. \n\nI have faith that the great nation of the USA will reject tRump’s crazy policies—we all just have to hang on and let the needless suffering for both our nations (and the world with regard strategic alliances) play out until he either relents, is swamped in legal repercussions, is impeached, or otherwise removed from office!\n\nGood luck my American and Ukrainian friends!

What he means to say is 1% gets caught at the boarder if you don’t find it that number could be much much higher. Which is proven how bad our boarders were, so catching 1% without the massive boarder plan means there’s much much more than that

From the USA: Why is it right for Canada to tariff us more than we tariff them? Trump pointed out that there was a 200 billion a year tariff deficit for the USA. Some say that number is inflated and the real number is somewhere around the 70 billion mark in Canada's favor. No one disagrees that the US has a huge tariff deficit with Canada. So, the USA is just leveling the playing field. It's time to truly have level trade with the rest of the world, not just Canada. No more free lunch from the US to the world. We want free and fair trade, but for that to happen we must tariff other countries goods at exactly the same level they tariff our goods.

Everybody says they are the friend of the US, until it's time to be fair. To the world, stop being a bunch of children... or don't. But if not, be prepared to suck it up. Be ready to back up your BS. Don't tell us what our government is doing to us, pay attention to what you are doing to us... and have been since the 1950s. Let us be crystal clear, you Canada, along with Europe and others have been enjoying your subsidized lifestyles off our backs. We are done and finally someone in the White House is hearing us. I don't agree with everything he says and does, but I agree with him that this foolishness needs to stop. Stop now. To Trudeau, Buckel up butter cup, put your blackface on and find yourself a cute little dress, maybe entertainment can be the way for you to go. Talk to you in a few years, let's see how this all works out for you. To Canadian's, Last Chance, come be number 51, before the Russia and China split you down the middle like a roast pig. Send your 250 troops to Ukraine, let's see what you and 2000 Europeans can do after you piss off the Russians... because you are right about one thing, they are led by an evil man, who's word is useless and who doesn't give a rat's butt who dies for his glory.... even if it's you and your children. No worries, you don't need those nasty Americans south of the great white north, your good all on your own. I Just sent Trump another $50. Not going to change the world, but it will let him know we are behind him, no matter what the Libs of the world have to say about it.

Canada and their snowflake PM can talk all they want! The trade deficit numbers between the US and Canada will crush Canada and be barely felt in the US. All of these comments are uninformed and uneducated. Once again, Canada will cave in a short time because it's unsustainable for their economy. Time to step up your border security or watch your economy crash!
