As someone in his late twenties living in Quebec, I got to say this is very accurate. I won't say things are as bad as some other people are saying in the comments, but I do feel like the country is going downhill. For me, these are the main three things that feels wrong:\n\n1. We, as citizen, tend to offload every responsibility to the governments. Each election, they promise to handle more, but fail times and times again to deliver on their existing responsibilities. But we still vote for them, because we fear personal responsibilities. They created these immovable bureaucratic monsters and they lost control. They promise new shiny things instead of fixing what is already in place.\n2. We lost all notion of what is necessary. People gets more and more entitled which leads to overconsumption and frustation. Quebecers used to be proud peoples who survived with the little they had. Now greed has consumed our identity and nothing is holder us together.\n3. I feel that jobs are less and less useful to the society. Even I, as an electronic/software engineer, wonder if my job as meaning. I feel we lost touch with the concrete world. Some people have 0 contribution to anything useful and have really good salary and work conditions, while others bust their ass in shitty conditions. The USA is good if you’re willing to overwork to make money… you will basically work work work and that’s not a good life. I recommend USA if you are young and want to flex in the future. I work every day in America and I’m not missing anything but I feel like a slave honestly. Canada is good for foreigners that are trying to get PR and a Citizenship from a western country quick because Canada needs a lot of immigrants due to its size. Canada is not good to live because it’s just so damn cold and housing costs too much. Europe is good if you’re trying to be lazy because the government likes to give money and health insurance is free but it’s hard getting PR and Citizenship. In Europe the income is very low on average compared to the US but the reason is cause there’s just so much overtime available in the USA and things are more 24/7. Europe is better to start a family and safety security…. But you will be giving up working super hard in the USA to make good amount of money…. Pick your poison. I recommend going to Canada to acquiere a Citizenship quick then go to USA and work like a slave with a lot of overtime for 10-15 years and before your 40-55 years old you move to Europe…

My immigration process took 14 years in total until I could get here, it was a blessing and I had a lot of gratitude to be here after living in a warzone. Ive lived in Winnipeg for 10 years, a part of me was always happy and okay to deal with the cold because at least nobody would be killing you or attempting to on a daily basis, with rockets and bombs. 10 years later, I was wondering that the only reason we came here was to escape war, and not find a better quality of life. You can tell me “you don’t like it then leave” but i find it disturbing that many Canadians here don’t recognize how bad the situation gets, when governments don’t do anything to enhance quality of life and corporates take control everywhere and raise the costs to unbelievable numbers. Housing crisis, most can’t afford houses or even rent a nice apartment. Healthcare system is a complete dogshit mess, people here don’t recognize the importance of how much this industry needs to be supported by governments and citizens because EVERYONE benefits from it and stay alive longer. I don’t know man, I only see it collapsing going forward, especially when everyone is divided and the aboriginal issues are a constant trend.

The biggest problem is that you can have dual citizenship. And there is absolutely no loyalty to Canada besides the ‘free healthcare’ and cheep education. You have people living in other countries for the vast majority of their lives and then touch base at home to suit their medical need, then take off and not contribute ANYTHING to the county. Then, they whip out their Canadian passport to be repatriated when things go bad in their Middle East country….

cant blame immigrants deciding to leave for whatever reason, but then they must surrender their immigrant status. if they like come back for whatever reason, they need to apply again. many will stay just to get a canadian citizenship n passport n leave, not contributing anything here but will avail eventually the benefits as a citizen.

Canada's system need improvement. That's an understatement if I ever heard one. When the necessities of life are made difficult to acquire and the government doesn't do it's job to fix it, you don't have much of a choice but to leave. It's basic survival. Yikes! Born and raised in Syracuse, NY and after college spent 16 years in Los Angeles until finally moving back to NY last year. Any comparison between Toronto and L.A. I simply won't stand for.....and I really mean that because you have less gun violence, seems like more cultures get along there, plus it looks cleaner. I'd consider moving to Buffalo just to be within an hour of Toronto to take weekend trips. After seeing how the rents up there are close to SF or NYC, def can't move there anymore. There's an appeal Canada has in terms of safety and perhaps better quality of life than the U.S. but frustrating to see housing crisis is even worse up there! Everyone has their own experiences. But the hospital incident I can relate. One time I took my son in emergency and the doctor gave anesthesia to my son in his finger and then got busy worh other patients and when she came back the affect was almost done and when she gave cut in his finger, he was in real pain and I was literally in tears. \nAfter few years when my situation was grave the head of the department herself took permission in the meeting for my immediate MRI which takes longer if you not in dire need.\n\nBut she gave the perfect review. Never come here to study in college. You won't get anything except wasting your money. For me it's been 20 years here. Life is not easy at all, but I'm used to it. May be because I don't need friends to share happiness or my sorrows. I'm a strong woman and can handle my ups and down. \nLife is all about paying bills and bills here and I now I don't have any regrets, so I'm okay with it. Winters are good as long as you have proper clothing and shoes. I never had an issue.

The huge prices don't affect the many millionaires and billionaires of Toronto,in all Canada and in the U.S.\nThey can buy anything they want,but then they don't help much the middle and poor classes that need to be helped. Pricing is not a Canadian specific problem. Look at anywhere people actually want to live in the US, it's essentially the same. LA and NY are just as expensive as Toronto. Only difference is there's less people in Canada that live in rural states like Iowa where everything is cheap because there isn't major city for hundreds of thousands of miles. This is all part of late stage capitalism and our inability to see past the short term. Corporations eventually take over if we don't do anything about it and everything becomes too expensive. Do people know that even when you are employed there are some professional documents that expire and you have to retake some courses after 2 years, some 1 year, 3 years etc. A series of them, and that is money. Your employer needs to see that your car insurance isnt expired, driving licence also. & you are super skilled by the way it isn't that you are looking for a job, you are working already. At least from what I have seen in Ghana, people are starting businesses.\n\nI am going to say something I observed about Ghana. I found out that women, as usual, are more hard-working. I realised that the men don't have work because they are lazy or have too much pride. I have watched so many videos where so many business owners complain about the ineffectiveness and inefficiencies of the workers. They are not dedicated when they work for other people. I watched these business owners whose workers in the farms are mostly women, and they were very happy that women are easier to control and have good work ethics as opposed to men. The men prefer jobs where they don't use their energies such as Yahoo Yahoo boys, selling in shops where they don't touch anything or lift a finger.\n\nGrowing up, we knew that men were supposed to do the hard-working jobs in society. But these days, men like to idle around and touch nothing. The reasons being that the African culture teaches us that men are not supposed to do anything at home. They are supposed to be served by women. Then, instead of the men going out there to do the hard work and make the money, they wait around expecting cushy jobs that don't make them lift a finger.\n\nLook at China that you mentioned. These boys work absolutely hard. Even in the villages. Look at Muslim countries. You will never see women working on the streets. The men are even the ones who cook the food on the streets and sell. All my hard work is gone down the drain, and all that can happen is for us to leave our children behind and live like people who never had children in the first place. For now, most people see it like something to be proud of, and are happy to say ( my children live abroad). Africans are the most stupid people I know, and that is why we are always used for slave labour. A doctor has a target of about 15 to 20 patients to see per day and rushes you out of his office because the corporation he works for only cares about money and KPIs! You really aren’t allowed to interact with patients and provide personalized service. A pharmacist has to fill anything between 200 to 350 prescriptions, give a certain number of immunizations and see a certain No of patients per day. There is no time for niceties! A corporate professional May work remotely but has to deliver on so many projects he is up till 10pm and only gets up to eat. We have beautiful homes, drive nice cars etc but MUST work like the clock in an assembly line fashion! Most of us pay so much of our income as taxes we end up with less than 70% as paychecks! Things aren’t always what they seem!

The real problem is government policies.. Our son (22 yo) was in a traffic accident 3 years ago. Heavy multi-trauma that necessitated 18 surgeries, the latest was 2 months ago. He still has complications that forces him into long hospital stays. If we were living in the US, not only the whole family would have been bankrupt, but he most certainly would have died from lack of fund to pay for his care. Being Canadians living in Quebec, we didn't pay a dime, and his medical care wasn't even entirely paid for by the universal national healthcare. Most of it was paid by the Société d'Assurance Automobile du Québec (provincially funded, single payer automotive insurance).\n\nEverything, including renovations to the house to make it suitable for a wheelchair user and so much other things he now needs has been paid for. All in all the cost of all the medical care, prothesis, equipments, surgeons (6 of them, diffrent specialies), multiple MRIs, scans, stress-tests, ect. is most certainly in the 7-figure by now. The single payer automotive insurance granted him a pension for life, calculated on the base of the salary he would have made in his future job, had the accident not cut short his university education.\n\nJust typing this to show a very valid reason why it makes absolutely no sense for a Canadian to move to the US, makes me tear up for families down south going through a similar situation, knowing that unless they are millionaires, they're probably going through hell. Each time we hear about the health care system in the US, we have feelings I can't even describe.\n\nEdited to add: Our son is covered by his father's complementary health insurance he has at his job. We didn't have to claim anything there yet.

Oh bhai, if no one will go to construction work , transport work, mason, carpenter work and build homes, what will you sell.. everyone cannot and should not be into business , we need doctors, other professionals, is there anything other than real estate and weddings in Indian diaspora , counting dollars , thinking about parents and next generations, could we name 10 plants, 10 birds of Canada , 5 rivers of Canada , trails , outdoors , you hardly see any desi , cycling , yes we are animals of gym workouts, but there are more than this , sunlight , cool night sky, lying under a tree , walking bare foot, we are victims of greed , falsehood , at the end we got be cremated .. Thank you Peter. You are doing a great job. Please i need your advise. My daughter got admission in Lethbridge college Alberta. We have even pay 1year tuition fee. But since march 28th 2023 we have not heard from IRCC whether approved or rejected. And school has even withdrawn the admission on 1st of August. We filled one form we found in their page to know the application status. They replied is in the queue. Is there anything we can do.

I think this was a great video. I’m glad you mentioned the difference in wages because what that really indicates is that Canada doesn’t suffer from a shortage of skilled labour if anything we have the opposite: a glut. What we need is more business investment in our economy but the federal government seems completely uninterested in that topic. Well at least for the immigrants that do come here once they get their citizenship it becomes much easier to work in the states under NAFTA so I guess we’re kinda a back door.
