Don't even get me started on that Trump Gaza AI generated video. Does he really view himself as being a gold statue? I seem to remember a story in a book about people that worship the gold idle of a bull. So does Trump think he's bigger than God? Obviously. Maybe it's the end of times and Donald Trump or Elon musk is the Antichrist. But nevertheless it's a shameful time to be an American citizen.

I'm European and I am so proud about Mr. Trudeau and his team. What an intelligent people. The speech is simple to understand but together it is so strong and says all that matters. Applause. 20-40 years ago US was seen as a dream country here in EU, every east European dreamed to live there, but not anymore. Today most would not go to US to live even if they are payed to do so. US reputation is in historical downfall.

For Americans to understand the threat of alcohol bans. In many provinces, it's the province that imports all of the alcohol, then dustributes it to liquor stores. So when the premier of Ontario says no more Red State booze, it's a done deal. The Ontario government won't buy it, so it's 100% not available in Ontario.

Donald Trump is managing the [very rapid] decline of the post-war US empire. He understands that he needs to let go of the levers that made the United States a de-facto empire after the end of World War II. Those levers of power will - WILL - be taken away from the United States, whether we like it or not, and regardless of our willingness to give them up. President Trump understands this. He is attempting to pilot the United States toward a rough (but survivable) landing and to prevent a cataclysmic crash after the loss of those levers of power. He understands more than he is given credit for.

The speech of Mr Trudeau, the way Canadians have shown solidarity for one another, today it all puts my country, The US, to shame. I am ashamed of what my government is doing and I am disgusted with the people doing it. In Mr Trump’s first term, as eclipsed as they were by the many many many actions and attitudes he imposed on us that embarrassed and hurt us as a country, there was the rare occasional decision I could at least understand even if I did not support it. Since taking office literally not one thing he has done has made sense to me as an American. I can only say how sorry I am for what the country I love is being used to do to you all, especially our closest allies and friends and in particular the people of Canada today. I grew up in Commerce Twp Michigan. I visited Canada regularly and, even as crime from Detroit poured across the border into Canada, Canadians always treated us with respect and welcome. I never imagined that would stop but now I find it hard to imagine how it might continue and it breaks my heart.

I think that Trump is far more dangerous than most people understand. He just bought the Panama Canal. He wants the soon to be viable NW passage. Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. But one more thing Americans don’t get is that before this fateful day an unofficial boycott against ALL US goods has been growing since tRump insulted Canada’s Prime Minister and threatened Canada’s sovereignty—whereas Canada’s official countervails ( which only kicked-in today )only target certain US goods, not ALL of them like ordinary Canadians are doing in growing numbers right now—in fact, the imposition of tRump’s tariffs today has only made the unofficial boycott bigger and more organized. It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. And there’s a federal election approaching when all partisans will be one-upping each other in the patriotism department—which manifests in more boycotts of US goods and hospitality services.\n\n Americans should know that the unofficial boycott is more harmful to US exporters than the official targeted countervails because it features immediate and longterm diminishment of Canadian purchases of US goods—all retailers know it’s very hard to recover lost customers once they’ve found alternatives (and the added patriotic effect only makes it worse). Included is diminishment of Canadian visits to the USA. Indeed, the internet is replete with testimonies of Canadian”snow birds” not only forgoing their annual sojourn in the Florida or Arizona sunshine but also of selling their properties there with the parting shot, “I will never vacation in the US again!” Already Mexico has seen its visits from Canadians (who have had a modest presence in Mexico for years) surge to unprecedented levels. I used to think that the idea that Trump is a Russian asset was just a conspiracy theory. I am not sure of that now as how else to you explain why Trump is doing everything he can to undermine the USA? Why else would you cause a breech between the US and our allies Canada and Mexico? Why else would he destroy the infrastructure of our country through Musk and Doge? Why else would you stop all aid to Ukraine? Why would you stop cyber operations targeting Russia? Why would he set up an operation to humiliate the leader of an allied country fighting for its life against Russian aggression? Why would you send your vice president to Germany and have him insult our allies and not meet with the leadership of the country but rather meet with the essentially neo-Nazi Alternative for Germany? None of this--and many other actions--makes sense unless you begin to understand that Trump is actively trying to weaken our country to the benefit of the Russians. I know it is hard to believe but I can find no other explanation.

Trump and MAGAism won't last for ever. The real problem is that the longer this madness continues, the longer the US will take to get back it's power and influence. The rest of the world understands that the problem comes from an incapable and illiterate leader but it also understands that this could happen again. America might take decades to regain trust. The longer MAGA dominates the American people then the longer it will take America to rise back to it's former status. It is so very tragic.
