No, I’m not interested in visiting the us. Too many mass shootings.

Small towns in the US have much higher crime rates and homicide rates than the larger cities. They aren't safe at all. Mass shootings are more frequent in small towns. Some American cities have roughly as many murders as Canada in it's worst year. It's not just the gun violence or mass shootings, it's the violence which permeates the entire environment, cities, schools, culture.

I laugh at you saying it hasn’t affected you. You do realize it just takes one person to walk into the mall you walk into and start shooting right??? To hear you say that is insane. Hearing about the mass shootings and the rest of the shit that goes on there I don’t even want to step foot in the USA. And btw really scary the power American border guards have and what they can get away with. My number one reason why I will not ever step foot into this country again

People are coming from multiple countries over to mexico to enter the USA. Any other country would shoot people doing this on their border.

With all your mass shootings, it's madness that you are not bothered by them. When people move, they move to where the work is. That means living in cities with all the good and bad that has. It's nice that you can pick and choose where you live like a buffet but most people do not have that luxury.

In canada I get 5 weeks vacations. A year maternity leave. Lots of sick days. Giving birth is FREE ( heard from an American woman she was in debt 30K for a complicated twin birth ????????). Ambulance once cost me 40$. \nI even stopped going to Florida for March break. Those red hats… QAnon…the guns….this hatred….\n400 mass shooting so far for 2023 ?. There are plenty of school shootings in US cities of less than 50,000 people. I’m not sure where you are recommending to go that doesn’t have massacres. Please google the statistics.

As a parent, I could never consider moving to the US (not that I would otherwise). I think you are a bit misguided on your view that there are “safe” bubbles… sandy Hook, Uvalde, Littleton Colorado… these were all places that one would typically consider “safe” yet they are some of the most tragic shooting stories we hear of, and it gets reported on worldwide due to the sheer grossness of the violence against children. \nAlso, the fact that there are so many hateful people in the US that literally refuse to believe factual evidence is just too much for me! Like a bunch of ‘Flat-Earthers’…

The fact that when a mass shooting happens ANYWHERE in Canada, it's all we hear about on the news for an entire week. In the states you don't even keep track of how many happen every day!

I’m a bit late to this discussion but I agree with the 99.9% of other responses. Although, I have enjoyed trips to beautiful areas of the US, & live close to the border where a day trip was a common occurrence. I now hesitate to even travel there as I do worry about gun violence, racism & honestly cannot understand the cult of followers who would even consider voting for an incompetent, narcissistic criminal to lead their country…. it’s mind blowing! You are desensitized regarding violence/school shootings… choose where you live? What’s the guarantee that this couldn’t happen anywhere in the US, even rural areas? On the topic of living in Canada, it’s beautiful with lots of country to see/enjoy from west coast to the east coast & we have healthcare, a government (although not perfect) elected by & working for the people. I’m proud to be Canadian, wouldn’t move for anything! We’re your neighbour but as it happens sometimes we just can’t believe what’s going on next door.

As of August 1st, US has had 419 mass shootings. Only 300 more to go until December 31. Only reason needed.

It's just a matter of time before wherever you live there will be a school shooting as well. Things will not get better in the u.s.a. as your politicians are next to useless. They are not for the people of the country. Too many bought and paid for politicians.

Our environment is cleaner and I have been scared enough with all the shootings across the United States and fear that another family member is killed again. I have family in the United States and yes it scares me to death that 1 of them has been murdered

*Excuse you*, Canada is a BIGGER, better version of what the USA is trying to be. BIGGER. More land mass up here, and it's really nice when it's not snowing. Maine seems nice, but most places are too expensive or too crazy. TYVM but absolutely not. I wouldn't trade my multicultural society for the world. Aside from the fruit loop fanatics, the gun laws and mass shootings, the ridiculous health care system that can't seem to provide care to people who need it, there's so much more about the USA to dislike. The rich dominate your society. The poor can't afford a college education and rich alumni kids don't even have to pass their courses. Some of your laws, like what constitutes rape in New York, are based on archaic thinking. Some of my relatives aren't white, and I worry about them when I hear they're thinking of spending time in the US. Seriously, we Canadians watch your movies and dramas where the plot is driven by something that isn't even an issue up here, and we're just, head shake, nope, no, nope.

Maybe it's just because of the news, but really, the school shootings are TOP of mind for me. Like, how is that even possible, to have that many crazy people who want to murder children, and not only that, but those crazy people have access to guns? \nI don't say anything to my American cousins, as I realize that they have ties, they've married Americans, they've built a life, and there's no sense me freaking out about things that they won't change, and insulting their choices.\nBut... I was SHOCKED that even after they started having children, they still didn't move back to Canada. They can do it, they have dual citizenship! \n???\nIt's like sending your kids to school on a boat in a river full of crocodiles. It's not guaranteed that nothing bad will happen to them, and it's hard to let them go, but you trust and pray and hope for the best.\nAnd then you see your cousin's kids sailing down that same river sitting on a log with their feet dangling into the water! It's horrifying, even if they assure you that usually the crocs don't come to this side of the river, and mostly they're not hungry in the morning anyway. It seems like reckless disregard. And for what? So the parents can make more money? It's not worth it in my opinion.

There are two school shootings pr day in the USA. 2021 there was 700.. in norway the last 100 years Zero

I think it’s more of the possibility of getting shot by either the police or the public scares me the most (yes I don’t trust the USA police). Also the USA police seem to be way more aggressive than the Canadian police (choking people to death, and more violent arrests than in Canada). I wouldn’t never move to the USA just because of the police brutality and shootings. Also when I was in the USA for a trip I still was nervous if it was safe half the time.

We have Earthquakes drills in school, not mass-murder shooting drills in Canada. The first time I even touched a gun was to study for my gun license exam. I honestly felt really uncomfortable. I understand some Canadians shoot long-guns for hunting and lifestyle. I respect those people living in rural Canada. Things aren't perfect here, but I feel a sense of comfort and security here that I feel no where else.

The gun issue is a totally relevant and significant deterrent to moving to and even just visiting the U.S.\n\nI'm so glad I live in Canada! It's not perfect but it's a strong, beautiful country. to help you put the school shooting fear into perspective. In Quebec we basically had three. The dawson college shooting in 2006, which caused 1 death. The concordia University shooting in 1992 (where a staff member killed other staff members, and not students) And the polytechnique shooting that caused 14 deaths in 1996. They are basically once in a generation events and so rare and shocking to us that they are still being commemorated yearly on the news.

Your stance on school shooting seems flawed to me. Moving to a small town is not a way to provide protection: Uvalde, Sandy Hook, they are not big cities… and the shootings are not always in the same towns, same states, same areas… from the outside, there is no real safe heavens from this craziness

We also have school shootings in Canada. We still grieve for the Polytechnique shooting in Quebec that happened some 35 years ago, and commemorate it as the horrible event it was. How much time can you grieve in the US before the next shooting happens?

I think American's are becoming desensitized to shootings. There have been gun scares at two different schools my kids have attended (even in a more affluent area), and I have spoken to other kids who are afraid to play in their own yard because of shootings near their house. This was not an issue when I was little. Things are getting out of hand, and we can't effectively deal with this issue if we are desensitized to it.

I am surprised that you are surprised about our concern about gun Violence! I don’t think people in USA consume news in the same way Canadians do. Or maybe you have just become numb to it. Because there have been over 400 mass shootings in your country SO FAR this year. It is widely considered to be one of the most unsafe countries in the world! It seems Americans are the only ones who don’t get it.

Tyler's reaction to Canadian fears about school shootings throughout this is that this is a big city problem, and if you move to a small town, you'll be safe and not have to worry about it. So, I got curious, and looked up the population of Sandy Hook, home to one of the most famous (feels gross to describe such a tragedy that way) school shootings. It has a population of less than 10,000 people. What is a small town to Tyler, because 10,000 people seems pretty small to me?\n\nAs a Canadian, I was utterly flabbergasted going into a US pawn shop and them just having a gun room. Enough guns to arm a small army. Hunting rifles. Handguns. Even one that looked like some kind of assault rifle. You can get guns in Canada, but at like, a hunting store, with proper licencing. The fact that you could go to a pawn shop and just...browse the guns there is so alien to me. Every country that has tighter gun control has fewer school shootings, and shootings in general. Like, shootings still happen here, but not to the same extent they do in America. American gun culture enables them because they both make guns so readily available, and have a culture that celebrates gun ownership in a way other cultures, like my Canadian culture, do not. I think our last school mass shooting was in the eighties? So, if I lived in the US, I don't think I'd be afraid to send my kid to school, but it would be way more of a concern than it is here, where I don't even consider the possibility of that happening at all.

Gun violence happens in small towns too- the recent school shootings are in small towns - does not make you immune- why legally allow someone to carry an assault weapon - it’s a weapon of mass destruction and has no place in this world or in the hands of any single person !! Just got back from Europe vacation and there were lots of questions about what we knew about what was happening in the States and why the heck is going on with guns

I'm a proud Canadian who would NEVER move to the USA for a ton of reasons. I only wish our best neighbors---I still believe this---would get their act together. Unfortunately I think it may be way too late. The fact that a known scumbag like Donald Trump could still,I think,get back into the White House says it all. The warring political parties should be lining up to put him jail. Far too many shootings and violence down there. When I meet Americans up here,they are always nice folks,always respectful. The gun culture is insane, i would never move to the states, i do not wish to be shot. I would never visit the states for any reason.\nEdit, Canadians HAVE guns. My 63 year old mother in law bought a shot gun for her hikes, cuz bears and cougars. Grandpa is a marksman and at age 87 STILL competes in shooting competitions and regularly wins.\nThe problem is how Americans FEEL about guns. They are toys, they are something they are entitled to.\nAmericans are armed, ready, and just WAITING to use their guns on an intruder to defend themselves.

Lived in Canada while working in the US for almost 20 years. Sadly although I had many friends I was often shocked by the attitudes of my colleagues. They almost all looked at other countries as inferior. Racism is absolutely a thing .There was no curiosity about other cultures. I knew people that died because of their hesitation to seek health care. The school shootings, although maybe they don’t happen ‘all’ the time there seems to be no desire to fix that. The US is going the wrong way regarding voting rights. My town actually sends out extra busses if you need a ride to vote. The support of the LGBTQ community and women’s rights are also problematic. US is good if you want to get yours but I personally don’t want to take two, when others aren’t even getting one. I am happily no longer working in the states.

America has mad shootings daily, they are famously the dumbest country on the planet. Democracy is important, but the USA is falling away from this. Two political parties is dangerous too. Need way more options. The facts that a majority of Americans voted in a celebrity billionaire racist loser makes me think they are even dumber than they are famous for. Climate incompetent. I’m late to this video but I just wanted to correct y’all by saying that the school shootings that happen in the US are NOT accidents. They are terrible tragedies that should be preventing but we find ourselves continuously dealing with them. There’s a lot of people in the US that have experienced gun violence or know someone who has & to say that it’s some “accident” is unsettling

i won't even visit amurica. the fact this is 5 days old and the guys making the video doesn't seem to realize there were over 200 mass shootings in the US in between january and may of this year. i don't see a need to watch the rest of it.

From Montreal here, I,ve been to Florida on five consecutive winters, before Covid, stayed in Pompano (Deerfield area), on day time, I never felt unsafe, but, I was told to never wander outside the resort for an evening walk, sometimes, in the night, we,d hear gunshots popping . This fact itself gives you something to think about. This whole gun violence situation is keeping people from enjoying Life like we should, .I was there (10 minutes away from( when parkland school shooting took place, enough to reinforce our feeling of Insecurity. NO, I would never consider moving to the States

Swedish man here. I need to say many people I know in my country are quite worried by the number of school shootings you have each year. But I should not be surprised with your 350 mil+ population and gun laws. And we are also seeing these problems increase in Sweden these recent years, and all of Europe.

I think the US has lots of interesting places and practices; unfortunately, they also have batshit crazies like Marjorie Greene. That's enough to keep most of us on this side of the border, LOL. On a sad note, in 2022 the US had 51 school shootings. I love my American neighbours (yes, it has a u), but I don't think I could ever feel safe there.

Canadians are exposed to American media on a daily basis, and because of the extreme polarization in politics, the portrayal of the USA is that of a country teetering on the edge of self destruction. Canadians are exposed to constant horror stories of gun violence, crooked police, the loss of human rights, and school shootings. Having said that, you did a pretty good job of trying to stay neutral in your presentation on what is a very touchy subject. Leaning one way or another on social media would get you bashed in the comments section (which is another place where we see that polarization).
