People who do not know how the customs duty system works think that the customs duty is paid by the country where the goods are imported, but this is not true. The importer company pays the customs duty in the country that imports. The importer company collects the tax it pays from the people of that country by adding it to the price of the goods it sells in that country. Therefore, a 25% customs duty will cause the price of the products sold in the United States to increase. The increase in product prices will also cause inflation to increase. Inflation will cause the purchasing power of people in the United States to decrease.

Every generation will have a very different life if they grew up in any metropolitan place. My grandfather came to Vancouver 1896. His family of five lived in garages while he built houses. No communication with the outside world. My father went to war in 1940's and experience things many will never see. He worked in Vancouver his whole life. My generation saw the first home computer, cell phone and color TV. and the internet was born. I was always taught hystory in school. My kids tell me , they don't know how people lived the last 100 years other than first nations people, and historical figures. Its not taught. They have no idea how people struggled to survive. My kids and their friends are fascinated by the pictures I have from the past 120 years in Vancouver. People now want everything. They are not willing to sacrifice life style. Some provinces that shall remain nameless like to break contracts with health care professionals, resulting in shortages of certain types of workers. \n\nI live in remote northish parts of my province (not NWT, Yukon, or Nunavut), and 6 years ago I was diagnosed w/ lymphoma. They had me set up to do chemotherapy treatment within 2 weeks. They wanted me to start that weekend, but I needed the time to put my work in order for me to be gone for an extended period, get applications set up for EI/Healthcare claims, and figure out who in my family I wanted to share the information with. \n\nIn Canada you end up waiting for elective surgeries and treatments, because they aren't critical by virtue of being elective. That's about it. If you need an elective and have 10K in your pocket not doing anything, go ahead and go to the states.

Hmm as someone who voted for Trump I still believe in compassion. Some of you should try that. I am ok with the deportations but it is quite excessive to place families and children in a prison where terrorists and the worst criminals were kept.
