Yes, it is true ! An idealized view of Canada as a one of the best countries in the world is complete bull shit! It always was.\nI left Canada 30 year ago and never looked back. A cultural desert. No spirit, no soul except Quebec. But they are racists!

I went to Canada in 1993, to Montreal. And after 30 years I was more happy to leave and don't plan to come back. Not the same country anymore. Too much immigration, to expensive, too much taxes ans many others to come, not a good infrastructure (they have no money left ), not good services, crazy gouvernement. And from my point of view the bad is about to come. Bad politics, covid was crazy, it don't worth my time, presence and money.

One would think with all the money the Canadian Government has provided the CBC last year (1.3 billion CND by their own admission), they could do a better job of the quality of audio production of this video. I normally can play most videos with my volume set to 30% of maximum volume, but this video requires me to increase the volume to 50% to be able to hear what the CBC News commentator was saying.

Yes. I have nothing against them, they're good kids, but Jesus, all I see nowadays are students, and most of them are here to get PR. It's bad for us, and even worse for them. And now that they can work unlimited hours, they're driving down wages across the board. International students that are legit are ok. They study in UBC, SFU, UofT, Waterloo, and others and get proper degrees. \n\nThe problem lies in the diploma mills who are accepting everyone and anyone who has money. They do not have proper educational system - just in it for the money. See Conestoga, their international students increased 1,500% since 2014 compared to just only 64% increase for Waterloo. \n\nConestoga approved 30,000 new student visas just the past year. It's insane.

I’m a Canadian who moved to the United States. I recently got my U.S Citizenship. Life has been so much easier here. I have so much more savings and disposable income. I have a mortgage that has a rate that is locked in for 30 years! A 30 year fixed mortgage. My phone is unlimited for $30 a month. Insurance for two new cars is $170 a month. Gas is cheaper. Food is cheaper. Alcohol is cheaper. When you go to the doctor or hospital you get seen right away. I’m very unlikely to ever move back to Canada. I love to visit, but the U.S is far superior when it comes to overall quality of life which I have experienced first hand.

I was born in Toronto. It was my home . I moved out a few years ago . I live 30 min outside the city now . Toronto is finished . Crime is up .the city is dirty . They want to defund the police! Wtf . Im a Canadian citizen and I live in Canada for more than 30 years the problem in this country is the government system is not good this is a kind of communist system and it will get worse if the system in Canada is not changed and the thing about having Canadian experience this is a crap and this is a stupidity. People from Canada which they are born there and they have business there they have to allow people and to receive people with their work experience and they shouldn't discriminate other people this is a their mentality and needs to be changed. I lived in Western Europe, Japan and at the moment, Canada. I lucked out getting a well paying job in Vancouver when I moved back a few years ago and my average tax rate is actually the exact percentage you stated in the video - 28%, which includes income tax, pension and employment insurance. (e.g., quick train ride to Paris for the weekend) Now, I take cheap flights (e.g. Flair Airlines) to Mexico instead.\n\nJust to state some data points: when I was in Europe, I paid a total average of 39% income tax on a lower salary than I have right now in Canada. Things like utilities (e.g., gas/electricity), restaurants, certain grocery items and electronics (e.g., iphone/PS5/computers) were significantly more expensive because European VAT (inclusive) is usually 20%+. \n\nI don't have the exact numbers but on average I believe I was paying 70 - 90€ ($100 - 130 CAD) just for electricity each month for a small flat, but I am now paying $30 - 50 CAD for a decent sized 1 bedroom. I believe my housing gas bill was about the same or possibly a bit more. In addition, automobile gas prices were much higher (about $2€/L on average which is $2.90 CAD/L) and I think they could go even higher right now. \n\nHowever, rent is definitely more expensive in Vancouver, but I believe that is true for many West coast cities in North America. Right now I'm paying $2300 CAD a month for a 1BR, and I split that amount with my partner. In comparison, it would have been about €1300 ($1900 CAD) for something similar in the city where I was living previously. I have lived in TO for over 30 years. Love the city! It has its challenges and problems, just like any BIG city worldwide. I would not move anywhere else in Canada (because other places are as expensive or much colder). I love its energy, restaurants, venues, events and the diversity of its people. There is so much room for improvements and to control rent/house affordability, but it is still a great place to live.

The healthcare sucks.\nIt ruined my life.\n\nWhen I was 16 I was diagnosed with very minimal scoliosis and told I need a back brace.\nThey never got me a specialist to get me a back brace.\nThey made we wait 2 years until I was 18 then told me I wasn’t allowed on the same waiting list anymore because I was an adult now.\nNow I am 19 soon turning 20 and they have done nothing to help with my Spine which has now progressed horribly.\nI have a middle bend which is 52* and a lower bend of 30*.\nI can no longer lift anything and am now waiting for spinal surgery.\n\nNone of this would have happened to me if they had only gave me a back brace when I was 16.

Great video. I'm from Victoria but have been living in Asia for 25 years. I have no idea how regular people get by in Victoria/Vancouver etc. I'm shocked how far Canada has fallen. It was probably a long slow slide but post pandemic Canada seems like a disaster. Singapore is so good I'm shocked you would stay in Vancouver or anywhere in Canada unless you are tied down somehow. I left when I was 30 as it just seemed so stagnant especially on the work/financial front and it just keeps getting worse and worse.

In 2007, my yearly gross income was double what I paid for my home. Now my home is worth double my income. My income is still the same amount in 2023 as it was in 2007. Food has increased 30% alone since 2021. So you can see Canadians were rich in 2007 compared to what today's cost of living is.

I am an American Christian, and you seem like such a lovely couple. I lived in England with two babies 1980nand I felt culture shock, so I feel compassion for how you feel living in Canada. I also attended University 4 years, NY near the Canadian border (30 deg below zero Fahrenheit in winters) so I understand how the extreme cold is hard to live through.Most of all, the Western world culture is beginning to push beliefs which even Christians can't tolerate.
