Canada, America and Russia have the most resources independently from each other then any other countries in the world. Its gonna be tough as you justify raising prices by selling out every Canadian citizen to foreign investment.

There is very little reason to believe that the ties Canada has had with the U.S. will ever be what they were, or indeed any reason to believe that that is even desirable now.

As a Brazilian, i don't know why Canadians are still trying tho deal with America. It's clearly not a democratic government. Brazil and Canada has dealt for so long, it's time to increase this.
