U.S. here....first, I and most Americans stand with Canada and Ukraine. Second, yes tRUMP made a dumb mistake. But everyone must realize that he really isn't very smart. His own cabinet members from his first term have said so. He doesn't understand things and he doesn't read. The leader of Ukraine was deposed by the EU and US when he rightly chose to strengthen ties with Russia and not to join the EU. He could see through the reality that those wanting to join the EU were young and looking to leave Ukraine whilst the older population relied on the cheap discounted fuel provided by Russia. It was quite common knowledge that the EU was after the resources of Ukraine. The difference between then and now is that Trump is doing exactly the same but told Ukraine exactly what he wants... Ukraine's resources.
