It's a myth that Canada needs massive immigration, especially when Canada doesn't have enough affordable housing for everyone. The average Canadians aren't benefiting from immigration, only the corporations, fake colleges and immigration consultants are. It's disgusting the politicians are using desperate immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers for votes.\nThe future are robots and AI for most labour and manufacturing jobs. For example: Even the trucking industry will become self driving.\nIf the federal government stop taxing Canadians too death, and married couples will more children. Old stock Canadians really need to get back to raising children that value traditional families and not chase after careers and money. Put Canadian families first. For those who still think Canada is a huge country and we need massive immigration to keep the economy going. Go ahead lobby the federal government to bring in 10 million migrants from Pakistan and Afghanistan and put 2 million foreigners in each of the 10 provinces, right now. Then don't be shocked when civil war happens. Enough is enough. Canadians need to be like Denmark and Netherlands, who are saying no to massive immigration! Remember refugees and asylum seekers aren't supposed to work until their claims are approved. How many businesses are paying the migrants in cash? It's one thing if the immigration process was well organized and all the immigrates were working and paying taxes. But now the provinces are begging for funding to deal with all the new comers and only Quebec is getting support from the federal government. Most mirgants just come here to try to have a better life but in reality the politicians don't care if they end up on welfare. It's super sad Canadians are dying of drug addictions on the streets and the federal government is still insisting massive immigration is going to keep them in power or solve Canada's failing economy or prop up Canada's pension plan.

Why is Pierre afraid of the immigrant issue? I think - that they will all be labeled of being racists because they don't want other cultures and more people in the country. That's what it is. OR maybe - Conservatives are trying to figure out a plan to deal with this and aren't showing their cards at the moment. LIberals want the votes and more people to live off the government tit but we need more skills trades, more hands on - more doctors and nurses!! If the immigrants have that background and actually have the education and compassion then bring them in. If not, then sorry, there's no where for you to go. Part-time burger flippers, coffee pourers, cashiers, etc... are excellent jobs for teenagers to learn and earn money and move up from there. Back in the late 70s and 80s into the early 90s, retail jobs were an excellent supplement income for a family and or single person because it was worth it - today, not so much.

Every TH where I live in the GTA is staffed by one group of people. Why? Don't blame the immigrants blame person driving a Telsa who demands Buckstars provide their half caff double lattes. We are destroying our social safety net so large battery plants owners can import entire families because we do not have proper trained staff. Here is a thought, maybe not spend tax dollars on businesses that will use tax dollars to bring in more immigrants. Don't tell me about the tax windfall the business will create when we all know they will pay little to no tax.

Why do they come to Canada, if not for the benefits? Why do these countries not set up their own Universities, where former international students go back home and teach their country and students what they learned here. It would be cheaper for them, and they can stay in their own country. But, they don't want to do that as they see Canada as the country of opportunities to bring their whole extended families here. We are already facing housing shortages, and don't need any of this type of opportunistic citizenships. They need to drastically cut the amount of foreign students allowed in. This year they are allowing 485,000 students. This does not take into account the students who are in high school or those studying for their master’s or doctoral degree's. In total it is 552,000. Then add on the Immigrants at 485,000, illegals or asylum claims( which is at record high numbers, could not find the figures for this year), then the migrant workers which are estimated between 700k to 900k. This is all too much. Drastic cuts need to be made, and this government that allowed all that to happen needs to be ousted out.

Irony is all these people who are getting interviewed are first and second generation immigrants as well. Due to the inbuild hate towards other immigrants you would only get one answer which is there are too many. One thing that no one seems to be understanding is excessive immigration was never a problem since Canada is so big that by the pace it's going and with the ageing population it still needs immigration to keep our economy afloat. You all should be protesting against the government for sending money for the war and giving away in the name of philanthropy. And I don't understand why True North spread hates all over instead of uniting people. And by the way I am a Canadian citizen and I strongly support the immigration big time.

As a Canadian citizen, I see that there are 3 major issues at play in this problem - \n\n1) Canadian colleges are starved off funds and do not have a sufficient, stable source of revenue. Hence they seek to attract international students who pay (at least) 4X the fee a Canadian citizen would pay. According to mainstream media such as The Globe and Mail, National Post and others, International students contribute some where between $15 to $18 billion per year in revenue to Canada. This is huge!\n\nSince this is a lucrative revenue stream for them, they have gone overboard and are providing strong financial incentives to education / immigration consultants to bring more international students here. Consequently, many existing as well as new colleges are encashing on this trend and diploma mills have mushroomed in Canada lately. This is ABSOLUTELY Canada’s fault and the accountability of fixing this lies with Canada alone.\n\n2. International students who come here often end up taking humongous debt or selling off their homes/ancestral property to be able to afford their education and hence they feel cheated when the dream they were sold doesn’t match the reality. \n\nHaving said that, International students do need to understand that they are here or a temporary visa and DO NOT get to dictate terms to Canada. It is Canada’s sole prerogative to extend their work visa or not, depending upon Canadians requirements.\n\n3. The Trudeau Liberal government benefits by giving these students extended work permits and a pathway to citizenship as it translates into votes for them. However this is an atrocious approach to winning elections and puts unnecessary pressure on the system. \n\nCanada needs to streamline this whole student visa process and take stringent action against these fake diploma mills, education and immigration consultants luring foreign students. It damages Canada’s reputation.\n\nLastly, extend the work permits of only those students that meet Canada’s labour standards and requirements and send everyone else back home.

They need to stop bring people in the country for a while and resolve the problem first.

The government is to blame 100%. They must stop bringing people into Canada. Sort out the housing crisis. Create more jobs, and let the Canadians and legal immigrants perform. Once they are done with PGWP, if the country doesn't need you, they must go home.

Being an international student means you can afford to pay for All your needs to finish your studies. What's wrong is they change the culture of Canada and bring theirs here.

New immigrants dont integrate in Canada or Canadian life. The priviledge of going to school is for study not PR. Its not a back door immigration program. You dont go to any other country and make demands or protest. Few if any go in the needed trades so time to go home. The numbers are unsustainable and its killing communities with housing and jobs as well as limited resources like healthcare and education. Governments and post secondary have failed Canadians who have had enough of paying the price and need borders closed. Clearly somewhere along the line these students are coming with false promises and expectations. With housing crisis if Colleges and Universities cant house all those they bring over on campus and provide the housing then higher caps to meet who they can house. Failure to do so close them down. Most communities are in emergency state for homelessness so of course no sympathy or tolerance for protests. Schools are for study only not a back door.

Most Canadians save up through their lives for 30 years to afford a house. Why do they need to own a large house as soon as they get a paid plane trip here. I grew up in apartments buildings (not a condo but rented apartment) then a town house - now I own a house. When an apartment opening comes up and a born here Canadian does need it- then bring in someone applying and they should be fluent in English and already have a needed skill to contribute to society. We are all \nbroke from paying for all these new ppl that don’t respect the country that our ancestors build with sweat and labour

Dear blame it on your politicians.They wanted cheap labor and that cheap labor also bring along millions of dollars that partial run Canadian economy .Then the international students majority of whom again from India add billions to the Canadian economy.If you need money and the cheap labor then you have no option but to bear them.Canadian are used to living on various government doles and they do not do the hard work while these immigrants are fighting for their survival, work terribly hard and that too at very cheap rates and they save a part of their earnings which eventually make them home owners.Canadian on the contrary used to living on government aid at many the levels, earn, spend and enjoy and thats the reason they are homeless.Sorry for making ripples.

Why does a country need immigrants? Because the native population is too low to run the economy. Why the Canadian population is going down? Because they choose to bring up pets and not kids. I hope nobody treats me this badly when I screw up in a new job. A very sad event took place, but this is just a vindictive response. Nobody can bring those kids back, but this overkill response is just because they were boys who played hockey. If it was a bunch of female figure skaters, there would have been nothing like this response. Canada needs to stop worshipping at the altar of the hockey God's. Driving jobs are all the same. I think the main objective of “international student “ program is being ignored and lost here. The objective of bringing “international students” to a country is for them to study and after they finish their studies to go back to their country. Isn’t that the case? Absolutely, there should be no other expectations.Then why are they even entertaining this nonsense. Unless they want to use the “International student” program as a backdoor to enter and work in Canada, and it looks like that’s the case. They finished their “studies” they need to go back to their home country.

Indians work hard and they educate themselves. Look who’s taking over the restaurant industry in Ontario. Look at the number of doctors, IT professionals, engineers and other professions. Indians, especially Sikhs, are heavily involved in farming. We Canadians, and I’m a third generation Canadian, have become content and lazy. Most of us won’t put in the hard hours on a farm or restaurant or the hard hours and dedication to become doctors. Like it or not we need immigrants. And when Poilievre wins the next federal election you can be sure he understands what immigrants bring and how vital they are to our aging country.

What a joke when my parents came in Canada in the 50s they were treated like slaves. You had to go in a certain part of Canada and work your ass off to died. These people are coming in getting social programs from the government and even complain. Not to mention the environmental impact building 500 000 new houses would cause. Here is another side to this argument no one has mentioned. Bringing in this many new people causes need for more everything, homes, schools, groceries stores, etc. In the last two years my town in the GTA has built more then 20 new apartment buildings and many townhouse complexes. They are building them in the small forested areas I used to play in as a kid, buying up farms outside of town to continue urban sprawl. And yet the government claims it cares for the environment? the mass destruction of nature says otherwise.

Stop bringing in immigrants then and then watch your economy crumble. Canada has no problem bringing in immigrants who work hard, do all the long haul trucking and work all the jobs etc people born in Canada don’t want to do. The key is to make sure we have the infrastructure in place to support everyone and that’s not the fault of people aka immigrants who come to this country and are told life is good here. Almost feels like reverse colonialization from all the British territories. First, they converted the UK and then to the other commonwealth nations. With China making up 18% of the world's population, India at 18% and Africa at 18% expect to see more from these 3 countries (the last is a continent). Although once they have citizenship they are all Canadians. Shame the interviewer only talked to almost homeless non-Indian Canadians! They will all have to learn English or French eventually, and drink Tim Hortons. Need for better integration and municipal planning. Let's see what the next election brings for the Prime Minister.
