I had a conversation with my Uber driver last week, he was a immigrant from the middle east himself, we were both upset about people coming over here and not integrating into Canadian culture and society. He said he came here so his children could grow up in peace and prosperity, but every day he sees people trying to make Canada more like the place he left.? Even new Canadians from those parts of the world are saying we need to slow down, take in less people, and only allow those who want to live in peace and give their children the opportunity of freedom in Canada while keeping out those who refuse to integrate and even worse are actively trying to destroy Canadian culture (Ex no more Halloween or Christmas in schools)

,.....we need to take care of Canadians first, you know the ones that built this nation, created a country of fairness and compassion? and here's a point that will enrage the uneducated woke: limit immigration from Islamic nations.....look at Poland, they are protectting their Polish identity and way of life, why do Canadians not see the same issue??? unless you want your country to look like France or Great Britain. This country has changed for the worse. And unfortunately Islam is not a religion/ideology that can be integrated into western liberal democracies easily. Read the Koran folks its not like Christianity....its not about equality and fairness unless you are muslim perhaps... their Prophet was a warlord killing thousands and enslaving thousands, he married a 9 year old and consummated that marriage when she was 12 and he was 54. If you believe in God , pretty sure he didn't send Jesus to earth to preach peace and forgiveness and then , an all knowing God Changes his mind and brings us Mohammed, who kills and enslaves?? And addressing current issues, Canadian passport holders who choose to live in Gaza, which has no rights for women, LGBTQ, and especially jews and whose leaders drafted a charter calling for death of ALL jews, sounds more like NAZI Germany, well they do not belong in Canada. There are plenty of surrounding muslim nations they can go to.

Naw really? We never asked for the liberals WEF agenda. It was never presented in their campaign when running during elections, they simply imposed it upon Canadians and then implied if you disagree you must be some kind of ist or ism. \n\nAnd it's not like we can look at every country who has recently taken in hoards of migrants and see a clear and defined uptick of negative consequences, not to mention the spikes in crime. \n\nNobody is an ist for prioritizing their culture in their country, and for wanting their people to be taken care of first. Get the house in order before you try saving anyone else, there are like 56 countries in Africa, they don't need to fly across the Atlantic to find a safe haven.

Can confirm, we Canadians like to form small social circles and otherwise keep to ourselves. We're also much more cautious about offending people and therefore ask very non specific, open ended, questions about people.\nTip: if you want Canadian friends you need to be fairly proactive, ask them out to trivia night at a local pub. Don't forget to ask for their contact info before you leave, otherwise you might never see them again regardless of whether you (and they) had a good time or not.

Nonsense talk....i know lots of people that became very rich in Germany!!! You need a profession and the will to work and an Idea.....! Canada and USA is to expensive, unsure, ......Lots of Canadians want to leave Canada!!

1) Toronto is poor value. Getting housing of any kind (buying or renting) is stupidly expensive. And the quality you get for the price is lousy. Especially the newer builds, which are just thrown up as quickly as possible and sold to investors. Policy measures generally all seem to serve to just inflate the price of housing further. The occasional lip service given to affordability is amusing, but ultimately sad. There are lots of people who really do not want the housing bubble to pop. They will fight against it with all they have.\n\n2) It has become kind of boring. There is lots to do if you have money, but it’s harder to find entertainment on a budget. Even the free stuff like parks are filling up. Stuff like sporting events, eating out, going out is very costly across the board. Even the “cheaper” stuff is expensive. It seems like a lot of local culture is disappearing. Even the cool neighbourhoods are filling up with the same chains. I think the high commercial rent and bureaucracy is deflating a lot of would-be entrepreneurs. Most landowners seem to just be banking on cashing out their land for condos.\n\n3) Canada overall has a high cost of living compared to salaries. In the US you can find lower cost of living areas that still give you a real city experience. And in Europe you can be poor but still live a decent, if no frills, life. In Canada the basic necessities are all expensive. Phone bills, grocery bills, rent, insurance are through the roof. Domestic travel is expensive. And the dollar sucks if you want to travel abroad. Health care is free but good luck finding a family doctor or waiting 8 hours in the ER these days. It’s expensive to be poor, or even middle class.\n\n4) Most of the Greater Toronto Area, outside the core, is soulless suburbs with awful transit - very “American” except with worse traffic congestion. You will need a car, which is another huge cost. Row upon row of old cookie cutter suburbs with the same crappy houses. Good luck walking anywhere, and if you do you will need to walk down boring, treeless arterial roads with cars zooming past right beside you, and cross giant eight lane intersections that were never built for humans on foot. In a rainstorm or on a fall evening you have to be really careful not to be run over by aggressive drivers.\n\n5) It is hard to raise a family in an apartment here. You can do it but it’s not very easy, and also you are still kind of judged for it. Lots of young people are feeling stuck and are deferring or avoiding starting a family. Buying any type of house, even a basic townhouse, requires pledging your soul to a bank by taking a massive mortgage with eye watering debt in a volatile market. But few apartment buildings have the kind of sensible gentle density, the family unit sizes and the common amenities, like little courtyards with jungle gyms, that you might find in Europe. No one ever contemplated that anyone would ever desire to raise kids in an apartment. It’s just a cultural thing that has worked its way into how things are planned and designed.\n\n6) The transit system is ok by North American standards but awful by international standards. There are only two real subway lines, one stub line, one line that is permanently out of service after a derailment, and another line that was supposed to open a couple years ago but still has no date for opening. The subways go out of service frequently, sometimes for the dumbest reasons, and then it is a zoo of shuttle buses. The streetcars are nice but so slow. The buses are fine if you find yourself dreaming about riding a daily herky jerky rolling tin of sardines. They are building a lot of transit but it will take decades to get done.\n\n7) There is still a lot of cool multiculturalism and opportunities to experience different foods and cultures - one of the best things about Toronto. Increasingly though it seems to be losing the fun vibe of the 90s, when everyone celebrated each other’s backgrounds and was chill. It seems the immigration is not as broad based anymore and also people are importing a lot of their “old country” grievances here. The immigration system also kind of preys on people abroad by selling them a false fairy tale, so they end up dejected when they arrive and see how things really are.\n\n8) This one might be controversial but it’s kind of an ugly city. There’s nothing particularly of historical meaning or value. Some of the older neighbourhoods are kind of nice, but the last 25 years they have only built giant glass skyboxes, one after another. There aren’t the cool “missing middle” walkups like in NY, Chicago or Montreal (or even LA). There are very few buildings with much architectural character. Some of the buildings they deem “heritage” here are an embarrassment.\n\n9) For safety, honestly on this score I think Toronto is not bad. There are not too many real “ghettos” and it’s night and day compared to much of the US. With that said, there is more vagrancy and social issues these days, with tents and such. It’s very sad but the shelters are full, lots of homeless go into the libraries, parks and transit system. It does make it harder to enjoy these public amenities safely. It is nowhere close to Europe where you might let your kids run free around town. Canadian parents still helicopter their kids and the place again is not designed to really be safe for kids, in the same way as Europe.\n\n10) Finally, a bit of a double edged sword. Toronto had a lot of youthful energy - people coming here from all over. It is definitely not as sleepy as many parts of the world. With that said, it is becoming a bit of a transient place (minus the world class experiences like London or NY). If you are from elsewhere you might find it hard making and keeping friends. I’ve seen lots of people struggle because it’s is hard to build a strong social network. We have a very “shallow” culture here - people are extremely polite but not overly warm and hospitable. We treat one another kind of like neighbours - meaning we’d like to have a cordial, drama-free coexistence and otherwise kind of stick to ourselves.

Have visited many countries for on-site business work, including Canada but India is good despite all the chaos, espcially South India. Over 95% Sikhs are just like me and patriotic and Love India, but yes there are issues in Punjab which need to be addressed...\nBut a large portion of the blame sadly goes to Sikh politicians. I want to tell the youth that Khalistan is a waste of time and politicians in Punjab, especially sikh politicians are completely bullshit. They are corrupt and have no vision and rely on rural votes which is sikh majority and Jazbaati over every issue and largely into farming. The Punjabi Hindus, baniyas, aggarwals and Jains own the urban economy and are comparatively more practical and forward looking in life. Many of these sikh politicians sadly themselves are involved in drug, own illegal abortion centres and labs, and even coaching centres to send students to canada on fake letters in exchange for a lot of money...\nI want to tell the youth, There is a lot of good opportunity in India. I know Punjab doesnt have much as of now (hope someday one of us can take our experience and setup a startup hub there), but other cities like Pune, Hyd, Bangalore, Mum, Chennai etc are good and once you have a stable job, its quite satisfying. Punjabis especially Sikhs are also loved everywhere by common people. Please dont spend your money on fake asylum letters and Canadian Dreams without thinking and planning.

It’s been 5 years for me here and I honestly can say I have achieved nothing in my life yet. It scares me when I think I can’t return whatever my parents had invested in me. The fact is you’ll never have a good paying job in Canada being an immigrant. When I say this trust me I mean it. Most you’ll get is a minimum wage job which can make you survive the life here. Taxes are high definitely and what I feel is you’re working to make someone else’s life easier. \n(P.S: people who’ve stayed in Canada will understand who I’m implying to)\nNo one wants to be your freind, scope of socializing is zero coz mostly it’s cold round the year so everyone hardly come out, especially in Northern provinces like Yukon, Saskatchewan, Manitoba.\nHealthcare is a joke. If you feel sick and not well and you wanna see a doctor be prepared to wait for hours and hours. I once had stomach infection and I had to wait 5 hours till someone could see me. I asked for painkiller at-least so I could bear the pain but they refused that as well. You might well see someone you love dearly and with whole heart die in-front of you and you could do nothing. (I’ve experienced it myself hence saying)\nYou’re a lone survivor who’ll always keep fighting. \nThe only person who can make money here is businesses and high paid jobs which are reserved to Canadians. That’s how Canada’s job market is. Canadians’ first and if there’s something left they’ll look at you. By the amount of money people invest here they can establish a nice business back in their country itself and earn accordingly on own terms. \nMost importantly you’ll cut yourself from all emotional supports like family, freinds etc.\nI was social person back in India who liked making new freinds and memories but it’s nothing like that here. \nAnd it’s the same life, no different.\nYou wake up, dress, eat, go to work, come back, eat, sleep. No different.\nNo fun and nothing. You actually don’t live in present, you live in an expectation of a better tommorow.\nYou’ll always have a smile when you greet someone but I guarantee you no one’s gonna check on you to if you don’t start a conversation even with a simple “Hi”. Mostly Canadians are nice but again some will systematically judge you and say nothing but you’ll see in their actions, the way they’ll talk in a twisted way etc.\nYes I’m not saying that Canada’s bad or it’s no good but trust me it will take forever to build a life here especially with the number of people moving here from round the world. \nIf you’re well off financially from back home Canada’s a paradise for you. Indeed it’s a beautiful country with lots of beauty and lots to explore but remember everything comes with a cost here. Everything comes with a cost. People need to stop believing in this fake illusion and come only if they got a purpose here. The only reason why they’ll let you in the country is for money and once you’re in you’ll have to keep spending, doesn’t matter if you’re broke or whatever you have to.\nOnce I earn I’ll happily give up my PR status and go back to India as i very well know what the situation is how it’s gonna be in future.\nSo just one piece of advise to every middle class person like me, guys please invest and spend your money wisely coz we know how hard it is to earn and it’s high time Canadians start appreciating what immigrants like us do for them by burning ourselves day and night and start realizing that their past generation once came from some other part of the world as well and settled here. Being white doesn’t make you a nice Canadian, you’re actions defines you more than your words. \n90% of this country is built by immigrants and that’s how it’s gonna develop in future, so if they keep treating us the same way good luck to them ?.\nAlso a plus note to anyone thinking that Asians are stealing your jobs, go get outside and have the balls to face them and take it away from them. Staying home and ranting and abusing us that we’re taking your opportunities and blah blah isn’t gonna work. We are so successful round the world because we are hardworking, honest and respectful to everyone. Even if we’re earning minimum and barely surviving here we always make sure we’re not burden on the government or anyone else and won’t keep crying.\n\nA big shoutout to all you guys who came here in the hope of a better future but are still struggling.\nKeep hustling and you’ll reach there, if not step down and go back and start your life again on your home soil. Canada should have global taxation structure like the US. If you want to carry a Canadian passport around the world you should pay some federal tax annually for that privilege. Not just return to Canada when you are old and need healthcare and social services.

there isnt free health care Its pre paid via the high taxes, The wait times for procedures can be 5 yrs. MRI prob 2 yr wait. US is this week, You dont get hearing vision teeth or cosmetic(warts etc) or medicine and you need a plan to cover them and most times a lot of medications are refused. People need to know LA is the 5th largest city of Canadians BTW, There are plenty private You pay Dr;s in Canada, or want a DR? you have to join a Co-op and that allows you access. Prescriptions are cheaper 700% cheaper for diabetic stuff, Antibiotics are 1000% cheaper.

I used to spend 6 months a year during the winter in US. While in the US I had a stroke... two days in the hospital would have cost me $25,000 but luckily my Canadian insurance covered it. Everyone in the south seemed to own a gun, and they couldn't conceive of the idea that I didn't want one... I didn't need one... I didn't want to see theirs. The day Trump got elected we put a FOR SALE sign on our trailer and never went back. I would rather spend winters in Mexico... I feel safer there and the medical system is affordable.

The huge prices don't affect the many millionaires and billionaires of Toronto,in all Canada and in the U.S.\nThey can buy anything they want,but then they don't help much the middle and poor classes that need to be helped. It is not a good idea to turn those social economic classes into the poorest ones in their regions and in their countries. Why can't there be higher taxes on the super rich so they can help those struggling? The canadian and american gov might help more but the super rich should help out too. Creating more poverty due to inflation is not progress and it is too harmful to societies. That is my honest opinion.?

I am a South Sudanese Canadian who pretty much grew up in Kenya before travelling abroad. Life in Canada is not easy.. especially after Trudeau came to power.\nI make pretty good income in IT, but i pay like 30% in taxes...30% of my money is gone. I dont see it. I know others who pay more than me in taxes. The grocery is also high, as are the other bills. Rent is really high. In my city, an average house costs 800k. Even my cousins in the US are shocked at the prices of homes in Canada. My rent is much higher than the mortgages being paid by my cousins in the US. In places like Toronto or Vancouver, it is worse.\n\nI went back to Africa last time and saw so many opportunities, that i made my decision yo transition slowly back home. \n\nThe problem i find with most Africans is thinking of finding jobs in the government or private sector. If you are a Kenyan, or Ethiopian or South Sudanese, etc, think of creating jobs instead.\n\nThe opportunities for entrepreneurship in Africa are endless because alot of the problems in society have not yet been resolved. You dont have to have alot of capital to start farming for example. So many Africans have access to free ancestral lands that they can farm and make money from. But many want to spend time in the cities instead. A change of mindset is needed.

People make mistakes comparing Canada with America. In Canada even to get survival jobs without a work permit isn’t easy. You need a work permit. No under the table jobs available and employers here don’t want to risk employing people under the table because they do not want to risk being fined after they get caught. Canada has also housing crisis even for Canadians. Shelters are mostly designed for people experiencing homelessness and also living with drugs and alcohol addiction. In USA you can live and work when you are still illegal not the same in Canada. Do your research before you get on a plane to Canada.

Pricing is not a Canadian specific problem. Look at anywhere people actually want to live in the US, it's essentially the same. LA and NY are just as expensive as Toronto. Only difference is there's less people in Canada that live in rural states like Iowa where everything is cheap because there isn't major city for hundreds of thousands of miles. This is all part of late stage capitalism and our inability to see past the short term. Corporations eventually take over if we don't do anything about it and everything becomes too expensive. People stop having kids so the government needs to increase immigration to support what few social systems we have left. I'm so tired of seeing these anti canada when it's no different than anywhere worth living in the US

Lynn I am a Kenyan living and working in BC.The problem is that Kenyans have left their fate in the hands of agents. Most of the guys on the streets are here on visitor visas. The agents told them they can convert their visitor visas to work permits. True! But they dont tell them how hard it is to do it! (Harder than rocket science hahahaha)You must get a job with an LMIA(this document proves to the government that the employer has not been able to get a Canadian or permanent resident to do the job thats why they want to hire a foreigner) most of these guys don't even have enough money to survive for a month bcoz 'they will get jobs and convert their visas to work permits' \nLike that Indian guy said you need a skill. Canada is looking for skills and you can develop these skills in your home countries and get jobs for 20:44 YOURSELF in CANADA. If you dont have a job in Canada you will struggle for sure.

Hi Lynn, this is a very interesting conversation. I moved to Canada in 2003 went to college and became a nurse. First of all it was not easy paying for college I was lucky that husband was supporting with the bills as I went to school. So I would say that I have skills that are very marketable. Our combined family income was over $100,000 CAN. We mortgaged our first home which was very basic for a LOT of money. We had our kids and we had to struggle with childcare as most young families do. By North American standard, we were doing good. We each had a good car ( loaned), we made trips to Kenya every so often but in 2016 we decided we wanted to move back home and we sold our home and we did. I HAVE NO REGRETS. There were several things that made us reach our decision. First, I truly believe that for the Canadian system to work as it does, it has to entrap its residents. Even after 10 years of work we did not have money in the bank. Everything we owned really belonged to the bank. The light bulb moment for me came when I evaluated my net worth. A primary school teacher in Kenya after 10 years of work with good financial management will own a plot, a simple house and will start to invest for retirement. After 10 years of work, there wasn't much in the account, our house would need 25 years to finish paying mortgage and to be honest there wasn't much to show for those years of work. Quality of life really sucks the amount of stress will definitely send you to the grave sooner. This is the case for most first generation immigrants. You might say you are sacrificing and building a future for your children but, my observation was since our diaspora children have not grown in Kenya to see the need for money and what life really looks like without the comforts they are used to, they do not have the same drive as the parents so they often do not excel they are just ordinary. There is also the struggle of growing up as a minority group. A lot of our children because they are seeking acceptance will struggle with self esteem, will have depression or will join the LGBTQ community where they get sense of belonging regardless of their colour. The morals are also different from their parents and they are shaped by the society they grow up in. When I looked at what my life would look like if we kept living there, lets say we eventually pay off our mortgage, when we are old and requiring care, our children will not be able to support themselves and support us because they have to work to sustain themselves so we would to move to assisted living or nursing homes. The cost of senior care is not covered by the government unless you have no money. so we have to sell out home which would be old and outdated but still very expensive and we would have to pay $5000-$10000 per month depending on the type of care we need. so as you can see if we ended in a nursing home for 5 years we will have depleted all the money we made from the sale of our home. So by the time we die, we would not have money to leave for our children. So we worked really hard, supported the economy, and die leaving not much at all for our children, we sacrificed our quality of life, and ended up with children who don't think much of themselves or have very distorted morals. I still remember in my mind as we drove to the airport on our way back to Kenya, I thought of the story of Lot. He was pretty successful in Sodom but I'm very sure on his death bed he had lots of regrets why he ever went there. I know its tough being in Kenya but if you have a job or any way to make ends meet, be like Abraham. God will bless you regardless of whether you are in the dessert.

'50% of the population was born elsewhere', and only 10% of them were actually invited. Thats 5% total legal immigrant Canadians and 45% illegal immigrants we want to get rid of and we're stuck wasting a lot of money trying to figure out who to keep, and who to send back. They stole from the rest of us to ship their relatives and foreign slaves in. Now we've got a rent and slavery problem in this country. We can't help the people who really needed help because all the wealthy foreign criminals are practicing a blockade of crimes, none of us can get past, exploiting any support we try to come up with. Blame the immigrants.\n\nThey moved our population to the streets, where many of them took to drugs to cope with their lack of existence. Our wealthy like any other corrupt wealthy blamed the victims and left us to die. Helped foreigners instead of locals. Which is why we have a sea of people coming looking for support they'll never get. We helped 100 when we were able, and they sent 2 million and we can't help anyone now. Never should have helped ANYONE. So now nobody is wanting to help anyone. They don't want the problem to get worse. The wealthy criminals only stole, never supported and our people are sick of being extorted, and stolen from don't want to participate anymore either.

Well, where to begin Ms McLeod. \nFirstly I couldn't agree more, Toronto is now a mere shadow of its former self. It's a shit-hole actually, unless you have the significant wealth to live behind the iron gates of the Bridle Path, Forest Hill or Rosedale. \nSecondly, the increase in crime is a direct correlation to unfettered and unchecked immigration policies of Liberal socialist governments who continually keep the flood gates open for the undesirable and criminal elements who bring their mentality from off-shore. \nThirdly, the lack of public resources for those suffering from mental health issues is a direct correlation to the disastrous policies in the 1970's of closing of virtually every institution in Canada who dealt with those who needed help. We were told the institutions were trampling on the rights and freedoms these Canadians. Today, there is simply no where for those to turn for help. And politicians of every stripe don't want to touch the issue with a 10-foot pole. Have a look at Vancouver's Downtown East Side - it is an apocalypse of a horrible social experiment gone wrong. The same is happening in Toronto, and even my hometown not far down the 401. \nFourthly, inflation and excessive income tax is a silent killer of hopes, dreams, aspirations and communities. \nI applaud your decision to look elsewhere for your new home base!

most canadian are ignorant. they would say go back to wher eyou from then. 99% of them dont realize that canada got a higher divorce rate then usa 47% that means every marriage got 50 50 chance of not working. now domino affect of that is single mother homes. single mothers dont raise man I REPEAT SINGLE MOTHER DO NOT RAISE MAN. man have to suffer through mistake and life lesson to understand how to be a man. they need a good father. most woman now dont want to be wives but rather the title to tell their friends and have the hoopla. most will say the cost of living requires bla bla bla. no its not the cost of living its your lifestyle that you want that is expensive. its the decision you made are making that makes it challenging. most woman get into marriage for love that is the dumbest thing ever since woman dont love they just love the way a man can make them feel until he cant anymore. you marry for duty and lifestyle and not love. man love woman respect. once she lose respect its over if she didnt have none from the jump then you got F. \n\nThat 1970 line is when men & women were expected to stop behaving differently in life & work. That’s the major event. Rockefeller economics wanted all citizens to be lifetime tax payers, not just men. That’s the only real, solvable issue. If woman a determined to embrace their natural place in society, to be matriarchs as they once were, instead of chasing masculinity and seeking to be patriarchs, a huge impact on everything would result. I was born in Canada and studied here and it was harder to find a job in Canada than the US. Luckily, TN is far easier than H1B so I can at least work here temporarily. But if I wanted to stay for more than 3-6 years, I’d want to look at a green card. But because TN is non-immigrant, I’d have to stay in the US between applying for a green card and getting it. Luckily, there is not much of a wait for Canadians. And I guess given that H1B people need permission to leave, our ability to leave and comeback however much we want is a luxury (though you could always get a difficult officer)

I think you need to do some reading up on gun violence in the US vs Canada if you are so shocked. The numbers are very high for the US. Canadians spend a lot of time watching american news sources to see what fresh hell our neighbours are participating in. \n\nI have a hard time finding the motivation to even travel to the US and I want to do so only to visit family history locations. And some beaches. But I have decided not to go cross borders.

Canadian here with many American friends.....\nWe have frequent conversations about the fear of school shootings and the parents being concerned for their kids safety. The fact that you and your friends don't discuss it may very well be cuz it's an uncomfortable subject. The ones I've spoken with sit with me on the phone year after year and cry about having to buy the inserts for the backpacks having to tell their kids no flashy shoes cuz it'll give your location away if you move, needing to teach them how to hide to survive. \nI'm in a very large city in Canada and we have the drills here too, it's terrifying for us just having that part, I can't imagine being a parent in the states worrying about my kids surviving school day by day. And the risk doesn't end there, it's the start of day 216 of 2023 and the USA has had 424 mass shootings events in those 216 days (well 215 days cuz day 216 has literally just started). And that's just the events that have 4 or more victims. \nAdd on the ongoing war on women's rights, wanting to legislate who ppl can love and marry. Nope, your country is quite literally the laughing stock of the world and needs to evolve to bring itself up to par. Your education system is slowly your medical system is insanely overpriced and messy. We Canadians are very content. An extra, if needed, is Barefoot Bay, in Florida, but only seasonal. We have had lots of warm sun since April, and expect it to continue to October. I like four distinct seasons, want snow for Christmas! JMH

This Canadian lived in Orange County CA for 10 years. I took my the 12 year old with me. I had been offered my dream job and was paid enough to have a good standard of living. However, I lived in an immigrant community to save money as I found many of the high schools were horrid compared to Canada. I had not realized the school to school inequality to be so extreme and my kid changed to independent study at home. So with a Canadian elememtary education, they graduated high school a year only while skipping no courses..\n\nMy kid had medical issues and even with good HMO insurance, we could never get a decent diagnosis until it had gotten so bad that their digestive system was so wrecked. I finally sent them back to Canada for the surgery that we could not get in the USA. It seemed the insurance companies kept getting in the way. And in one case a doctor went all religious on us. After 6 years of almost continuous pain they finally got relief for a decade until the prior damage came back to haunt them However, after a year of university ib Canada my kid went to a private university in the eastern USA. They have decided to remain in the USA and now in their mid 30s, they make really good money anf have top line medical insurance which pays for the ongoing care they need because of the damage caused by delays when a teenager. \n\nI found life in the suburbs of Orange County nice but the OC is not a good place to meet people. When after 10 years there, in 2010 I returned to Vancouver to care for my elderly mother. I had been living alone for 6 years by then and was offered the first job in Vancouver anything close to me dream job there. and I returned to Canada at age 59. I had been approved for a green card in 2008 but there was a 6 year wait for it to come through. But I noticed the racism in the USA start breaking out all over the place when Obama got elected. And it has gotten worse and worse every year. Especially with 45 enabling it so much. \n\nMy circle of friends in Southern California are mainly good people and not at all like what we call MAGA-hats now. Except one who thinks 45 was the greatest. Politically, the USA is on the path that Germany was on in 1933 and I fear for the US Democracy if the Orange One gets in again. Even my kid and their spouse have bug out plans to head to Canada just in case. This is why my kid, while having a green card has never taken US citizenship. Besides, being a Canadian has not affected things the two times they got security clearances \n\nWhile most Americans are good people, it seems that about 25% have gone just plain loco and care nothing about democracy. And appear to prefer the USA to be a totalitarian theocracy \n\nI was there long enough, paying the maximum FICA taxes for 10 years to get a small pension from Social Security and I have Medicare Part A. I can afford to buy parts B and D but I see no reason. I have even better coverage in Canada for way less cost. The USA has a nice warm climate in many places and I just loved that. But otherwise y'all have too many people who want to turn the place into an intolerant police state and to return the country to 1950s levels of intolerance, So in my retirement, I will stay here in Canada. Canadian here. I will just say, after our pop increased by 1mil last year due to immigration (including foreign students that still drive up housing as they need to be housed), I can tell that the approval of our current immigration rates are a bit too generous. Maybe the survey was taken only in downtown areas of Toronto or Vancouver, so its really only asking other immigrants if immigration is chill, but that isnt the consensus of the nation. We dont make more than Americans, but we are taxed more (aka why we want more immigrants to get more tax $), and everything costs more here: from housing to food to energy. Its driven up by the current unsustainable immigration quotas. I myself an am immigrant, but when my family and I immigrated 23 years ago, we only took in 20 000 people a year. I wouldnt have an issue on this at all if we were building enough. Enough housing and transit for everyone. enough good paying jobs for all these newcomers. But these people (with excellent degrees) are lied to at the border with a false promise of prosperity, and just end up being uber drivers to make ends meet. Its a truly broken system. If you arent making 150k/year, you are very much considered lower--middle class.

We are not a smaller America. In spite of what some Americans seem to have thought since 1776, we choose to be Canadians. We do not want to be, nor are we in any shape or form Americans. We like who we are. I have a friend in the Flint MI area. As a single women living in a rural community, she keeps a gun near her bed in case someone breaks in. I can't imagine living in such fear. I too live in a rural area in SW Ontario. We don't even feel the need to lock our doors. We don't even want to cross the border to visit these days. Get your guns under control and we will reconsider a visit.

No, I wouldn’t. I just moved from Vancouver to London, uk. Lots of people asked why I didn’t move to New York. Main reason is health care. I’m a self employed hairstylist and no one is providing health care for me. Second is gun violence in general, mass shootings are a big issue, just because it hasn’t happened in your small city, doesn’t mean it won’t. Mass shootings are just the most extreme version of gun violence. I don’t want the people walking down the street next to me to possibly be carrying a gun on them. That is truly terrifying to me. Third is that politics are so extreme and so prevalent. Lastly the fact that women’s rights are being taken away. I absolutely cannot support a country with very little benefits and aid for those who cannot afford to have a child, that then makes them have a child. That’s the briefest way I can explain my feelings, I could go on and on, but I’ll leave it at that. \n\nThe only benefit I see in moving to the us from Canada is for certain opportunities, and those come in big cities, so there’s absolutely no point in moving to then live in a small city. \n\nI appreciate that you’re being introspective as you go through the video. Unfortunately gun violence is a massive one for many Canadians, even when they travel to the us. Now that I’m in London, I hear a lot of the same sentiments being mirrored by the Brits. No one wants to lose their health and safety just to move to the us. It’s sad that, even as you represented, most Americans have settled into just accepting these problems, when they don’t need to be there.

So I just want to say just the fact that you have to think about where you want to live for religious, race or safety reasons that is a problem. As a Canadian that travels/moves for work when I look for a town or a city to live it’s how hard is it to visit family/friends is there hiking/fishing/hunting how long do I have to drive to the kids school. I never look at the crime rates in a city, or the number of school shootings, can I get insurance at the new jobs if needed…. And it’s really sad that most of you do.

There are only two conceivable reasons for a Canadian to move to the US. \n1. is the weather. I don't think I need to explain why some of us get tired of winter for six months out of the year.\n2. is the money. If you're young, single, white, educated male, you can get some good jobs down there, but you're going to want to hold on to your Canadian citizenship for when you get sick.

Canada has many regional differences, so it can depend on where you move in Canada. BC and Alberta are quite different while Western Canada is different from Ontario and Quebec, as well as the Atlantic provinces. It really depends on what you need, are looking for, want, and more.\nWhen it comes to Canadian multiculturalism, that evolved out of Canada having to balance both English and French languages and cultures—which is something countries like Australia or the US haven't had to deal with—as well as Indigenous people and immigrant cultures.

I think your video is well done. I used to love visiting the US especially the west and have fond memories of our travels .Now we don't travel to the US because of the gun violence and so many guns. Most Canadians don't want guns and think gun control should be very strict. I am very content with the way things are in Canada. We have high taxes but we have so many benefits, like maternity leave of 12 months or more. We have free healthcare with no premiums to pay. We have at least 2 government pensions , one we help contribute to and one is totally government funded plus a guarantee supplement if needed . Most people also have a company or union \npension . Most people retire between 60 to 65 years , but its certainly not compulsory. Canada is hoping to have a 4 day work week soon. Our federal government is generous helping with supplements for food etc. We welcome newcomers and we have a very diverse population. I have traveled to different parts of the world and I am very content here.

Canadas Future as a Free World Retirement Nation. Highest Taxes in all the world if you want to come live here, & the Refugees coming will serve & produce as needed.
