I'm an American and I'm so ashamed of the irresponsible actions of our government. Our nation is quickly being handed over into the hands of our enemies with our faithful allies removing their support from us because Trump can no longer be trusted. I support Canada and their leadership.

Hey Canada I’m a highly skilled laborer and I want out of the US. Can I please move up there?

I'm Danish - we have a big movement in Denmark to boycot American goods. The US has failed in so many ways. They will learn - perhaps to late - what the price is. In the mean time I urge people around the world who supports Ukraine, Mexico, Canada and Europe - who supports the right to freedom - to buy goods from each other. Lets join together with Japan, Australia, South Korea etc - let's show the US that YES, they were important - yes they WERE the leaders of the free world - but they lost the right to that title the moment they selected Trump for president again. Let's show them what real bravery is and what real freedom is!

We know why HE is doing this. He is pushing an imperialistic agenda, so he can be like those he admires. He's hoping that Canada will bend at the knee and give in so that he can claim Canada as a 51st state. But guess what? That won't happen. He's just doing himself and his country harm. He doesn't care about you, or me, or us as two countries that have always worked together. But we are setting up border security to keep American drugs, and weapons, and illegal migrants from coming into Canada. We're going to have to survive by reverting our trade to elsewhere, to depend on ourselves, to boycott U.S. products. We may be nice, but we are also tough. We love our society, our democracy, and our benefits. We won't give that up. Growing up, I lived in South Western Ontario, I used to go back and forth from Canada to the U.S. with no issues. Now, I'm sad to say, I won't ever be going to the U.S. again. Let's all hope for a brighter future for both countries.

What can the average American do?? We have no say. We have no wins. Our jobs are being ripped out from under us. While they Ski and Golf. Not to mention the crypto crap.. I’m tired and fed up with this ? swinging when neither of them have a working member amongst them.. over 70? His wife definitely has a ? in her pocket!???

As an American I'd like to say, I didn't vote for this, please don't hate us.. and can I please come live with you guys?? I can't afford a passport cause I'm not a wealthy American, but I'm hard working and I'm polite... Please

I'm curious how much tariffs does Canada charge the US?

Nothing but two people trying to do what they think is best for their own countries. I'm not mad at that, but Trudeau for the sake of his country, will make it harder on us by his tarrifs which tells me how much she really cares for Americans, not more than his. Which I'm fine with. You have to take care of your own, but tit for tat isn't good for anyone.

I'm a born Canadian and i'm BAFFLED at how you would turn around and impose tariffs on your closest ally. Canada and the US had a relationship that was built on trust co-operation and trillions of dollars and it means nothing to their current president. I used to be a fan of Trump, but the recent situation with Zelensky along with the tariffs i can see more and more that having him back in office was a huge mistake. Trump obviously doesn't care about how the tariffs affect his country and his people because he responded by threatening to raise the tariffs in retaliation to Canada's response.

We have been getting more investment in American jobs than we’ve had in decades all thanks to this policy! I’m thankful that we have a president that puts us and our people first! We’ve had over a trillion dollars of investment in America and American jobs just in two months!

I’m standing with our friends in Canada. I wish they will export more to us in Europe. I’m also boycotting the US for the evil regime that they elected.

I’m from Ohio, just across Lake Erie from Canada. I would heartily endorse Canada accessing us. Less than 2 months in, I am absolutely sick of where we are. If I were young and a working person, I would look about leaving the US.

Perhaps if you are going to broadcast our Prime Minister's speech, one that Canadians need to and want to hear, you might have the courtesy and respect to LET HIM SPEAK rather than bring in colleagues to talk. President Trump want the best for the American people. President Trump wants Canada to secure their borders stop drugs coming over the border. That 5.5 thousand miles long I’m sure these holes in that line. President Trump wants everyone to start paying their share. Canada needs to know they need us more than United States needs them.

We were warned and informed on their plans because of our own insecurity on certain issues blinded us on the bigger picture. The US is our biggest ally here in Costa Rica but I can´t agree with what Trump did, does and will continue to do. Disrespectful to all countries. I'm sure the majority here are rooting for Canada and Mexico.\nIts time for the world to remind the US that they need us all and not the other way around.

Who convinced Trump of this? I like him but this trade war against Canada isn’t the way to go, really. I feel Canadians were mistakenly targeted. US needs allies not foes. Great speech! As an American, I'm on Canada's side in this fight. The American tariffs should not have been implemented. Their purpose is to hurt both countries, to soften us up for Russian dominance.

I grew up hearing lots of hate bout USA cuz the US doesn't exactly have a good rep in foreign policies - always bullying other nations, starting wars for oil etc. but I've always preferred USA not just for the world order it brings, it allows different voices, criticism & scolding towards its leaders compared to China, Russia & North Korea. \n\nin the US, you can talk bad bout politicians in power, or probably make movies bout these kind of things like US invading other countries for oil, or testing out some cruel AI military robots on humans (movie name: Monsters of Man), & you won't be persecuted. but after looking at a bunch of executive orders Trump has signed, the way he (& JD Vance) treated Zelenski & Canada, I don't know if I still feel the same bout USA anymore.\n\nif USA doesn't wanna continue spending on Ukraine, perhaps USA shouldn't have sweet talked Ukraine into denuclearization thru the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. that's what you get for mendling with other countries' affairs. by stopping US aid & wanting a new mineral deal, Trump's refusing to follow the Memorandum (I added this sentence thru edit as I can't reply to the comment below).\n\nunderstandably, US & UK don't need to deploy troops in Ukraine as the security assurance in the memorandum wasn't clearly defined, but it also didn't mention that Ukraine should pay the US back financially, nor any mineral concessions. \n\nTrump always wanting a purely 1 sided deal will only isolate USA from more allies.

This dude's an idiot it's all bull crap everything the United States send to Canada we pay huge fees to sell our products there it's only right that Canadians do the same thing a 25% tariff the United States is still paying more to sell goods in Canada it's only right that Canada pays the 25% tariff as well as everyone else everywhere us products are sold every other country we have huge fees and markups charged to the companies that make them so they can promote local made and goods made within their own country it's only right that the United States does the same thing while our tax dollars go to support the whole world are companies should be able and our government should be able to recoup some of that money through tariffs it's only right I'm all for paying a little bit more money so that our country can recoup some of the money that we spend and send to their countries how many billions of dollars does Canada get from the United States and they're complaining about a little tariff but yet we send billions of dollars to support them
