There's a job shortage not a labour shortage.There are millions of unemployed and under employed people that would love to fill high paying jobs and trades but can't due to bureucratic barriers.Ask the doctor driving a cab in toronto or the lady with a masters degree who makes your latte.Companies should train people not pawn that off to the college's.The myth is these low to no slilled immigrants are supposed to generate wealth for Canada yeah? It's been 54 years of imposed mass migration where's the pay off? If they could why didn't they do it back in their own country? Immigration only works in small numbers from first world countries.All countries pushing for mass migration are having the same problem cause the concept doesnt work.The rich just want cheap labour at Canadians expense.

As an immigrant from Europe (not a country with a high level of poverty or a war), I arrived here in 2016 and I can say I love Canada, a very welcoming country. While I see lots of immigrants returning to their countries or going to other places, this country is amazing, offering tons of possibilities to entrepreneurs, business people and with a wide variety of possibilities. Yes, housing is an issue but it is in many rich countries. I also see a lot of people like me, happy about what they have and what they built. I travelled the world (Australia, Europe, Middle-East, Africa and Asia) and I can guarantee, there is no perfect place. So find the place that suits you best. Do not expect perfection. It does not exist.

I am in IT, immigrated to Canada from Punjab around 16 yrs ago. I never applied for any job since I landed and was never without a job too. Its actually recruiters who keep on contacting me by checking my LinkedIn profile or seeing my resume online. In recent 1-2 weeks too, I got 6-7 offers. I live in Manitoba with a decent affordable house and have a decent affordable life. \nI love Canada. Living here happily with no complains.

I Love when Canadians and American are calling other people immigrants when they themselves are the also the immigrants. These lands were indigenous lands that where stolen from them, they even built schools over top of their bodies, yet they say this is their land. From an Arab / Canadian born and raised here this is truly sad. This country is literally built with all kinds of different nationalities and would be nothing without them all! As a Canadian, I love immigration. As a renter though, our government failed us so hard. They defunded our housing in hopes that the private market would pick up the slack. It didn't, then because of our economy/demographics are we had to massively increase immigration. It broke a system that was already crumbling. Now a whole generation of people will never be able to afford to buy their own home many of us can't even afford the rent. Is it that surprising the majority of our legislators are landlords?

In California, Ontario at the Warehouse for designer purses i wont say which one, we have 2 immigrants who came here less than 4 months ago, they have been housed and given money and job permits. Noone at work talk to them much bc they keep to themselves. We have a homeless coworker with her dog and she is living in her car she brings dog to work too, but these 2 illegal aliens are clean, happy, well fed and are dressed nice everyday. The both have kids too who are in school already.\n\n\n The company gets money for hiring them. A bonus they called it. I love my job but scre that.

It's refreshing seeing Canadians' opinion on a national issue in the comment section. Just acknowledging that they face a problem and how it should be tackled, no aggressive xenophobia, no racism. Canada is built on false promises to lure in immigrants to have them work for cheaper while ignoring it's own citizens. Post secondary institutions love foreign students. They charge waaaaay more and make that much more.\nThe response against more foreign students by liberal media is the threat that your tuition will go up with limits on foreign students.\nWhat about spaces? For every foreign student there's one less space for Canadian students.\nHousing is the biggest issue today.\nPrevious to Trudeau, the issue was the cost of detached homes in big cities going up but today it's insane rental costs across the board that no one can afford.\nI have been dumb founded as to why after decades of predictable increases and stock suddenly, year after year, cost went up dramatically as stock dwindled.\nI see the same places available, no one's tearing down masses of cheap 70s built rentals so what happened?\nThen I saw the immigration numbers. Canadians aren't having kids so who is taking all this housing? It has to be immigration.\nClearly, it's time to turn the taps down and allow housing stock to catch up.\nThe ripple effect is that no one can work an entry level job in the city. Who can afford a minimum $1000 month on minimum wage? Even at $20 hour, everyone is hiring but no one is filling positions in cities where there's nowhere to rent. Even these way over priced rentals, a bedroom in a run down house has line ups to rent at $800 month.\nThe only people accessing affordable housing are people on the street or on disability who qualify for it. Low income workers are the most screwed class of people especially if single.

Never compare a country with another. We are all educated immigrants who decided to immigrate over to Canada. Im from India, Canadians ive dealt with for my last 10 years are super friendly and sweet people. Yes as a Canadian now i love this soil, weather and i would not mind even giving my life for this country who has made my life better and given me all freedom to live my life the way i want.

Some of them come , right after grade 12 only one thing in their mind to get immigration! Most of them come to get same degree management or hospitality managing hotels ! These degrees don’t get them anywhere ! They all want live Vancouver Toronto no one wants to go to Manitoba Saskatchewan and up North ! People open up private colleges,have little room to teach them on line classes ! Money grab ! No one give them right information before they leave their country! We got not many skill student only business digress! Student from Indian love to get their PAR ! It cost them too much money to get here, but then they have to work hard to pay for their fees , or they have to buy work permit , it cost 35 to 50 thouesd to buy work permit as long as they work for same people for two year, not making that much money ! Singapore is a much more congested place. Real estate prices are on the higher end.\nCanada is a very cold place but in certain states, Canada gives free land to settle immigrants. Plus, as you stay in close proximity of the US with similar timezones. So you can find jobs in American companies. Singapore is from a different timezone and there is very little overlap between California PST and Singapore SGT. \nAs the global warming takes effect, Singapore will sink, while Canada becomes warmer, more natural resources are unlocked in Canada. Not to mention, Singapore is sorrounded by Islamic nations, and there is high probability of terrorism happening in near future as radicalization increases in that region. War is already happening in Burma between Junta and ARSA. And when civil war happens, so happens the in-flux of illegal arms and ammunition. Canada is far far away from these warzones.\nMost people should prefer Canada over Singapore, unless you have any specific ties to South East Asia, like you love the Asian food or you need to stay in close proximity of your family and friends.

I have been in Toronto since 1990 - used to love it but now... we're bankrupt as a City due to all the immigrants and homeless migrating here - thanks to our Federal Gov't not doing their jobs. I am disabled and was attacked 4 times on the TTC last year. Really hating what this city has devolved into. But where to live? Moving back to the UK is not an option as it is much the same there. Vancouver again? Not much cheaper but at least there you have more opportunities to get away from people.

Move out of Toronto and you'll love Canada! I immigrated last year and like everyone else I went straight to Toronto to find a job. I did find a well paying job but even after that, the city was not affordable. I liked the part that it's easy to find new people and settle in the city because everyone's very open minded and welcoming but the rent al market is absurd! Public transport need a major upgrade! The only thing apart from social life that I liked was toronto's biking culture and community. But taking ttc, specially the subway is scary! Road rage is becoming a norm, no respect for pedestrians or cyclists. The city is broken.\n\nI am now living in London, Ontario, and I feel a lot safer. Fortunately, the renting is still not as bad here but you need to own a car (well, that's just North America) and then you can life a comfortable life.

I would love to leave Canada and move to the USA..... I hope it worked out for you man… as a Canadian, I can say that as much as Canadians love to pretend like we’re super open and welcoming, that’s largely not the case. I’ve witnessed some really disgusting treatment of immigrants first hand, and I have a lot of friends/ coworkers who are immigrants from Latin America and the Middle East, and I’ve heard a lot from them about the micro aggressions that they get from Canadians everyday, the dirty looks they get when speaking their native languages in public, and the immense pressure to assimilate. What you were saying about feeling like you’re always reminded that you’re an outsider in Australia, I also hear that a lot from immigrants here in Canada… I hope that Canada can be a better place for you, and you can feel more at home here, but the u fortunate truth is that the idea that Canadians just welcome immigrants with open arms and that everyone is welcome here is largely a myth… a lot of Canadians unfortunately are just xenophobic, racist, nationalistic dickheads and they’re not shy about it

My parents immigrated to Canada from Romania when I was nine and I have lived there for 20 years. I can’t remember ever really liking it, but I was made to believe that I was so lucky to be living there but always felt like it wasn’t the place for me. I just couldn’t find any other country where I actually felt good until a Moroccan friend convinced me to visit his country and I fell in love! I think from the moment I started planning my trip there I had already fallen in love with the country! For four years I kept going back until I finally had the courage to settle there! It’s been almost 7 years and I still love it as much as in the beginning (with all its pros and cons, because obviously there are also plenty of cons like in every other country, but the beauty and the people’s kindness and warmth far outweigh any of them:)

I'm born Canadian and at least from my mom's side at least 5 generation. Dad was immigrant from Barbados. Somehow Trudeau has been able to triple our debt owed yet everything has gotten worse in this country. Unfortunately I lost my job during Covid and ended up spending most of my savings and retirement. So having to start from ground zero again which is infuriating. I would SOOOO love to be living in somewhere in south east asia right now Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, etc.

Sorry, I still love Canada, look at what is going on around the world, and quite fine to be here, Most industrialized countries are expensive to live in, no matter where you’re at today, inflation, high accommodation rates, and food increases, are everywhere. Maybe we’re just lucky, but our healthcare around us is quite good, and when I compare to what people pay in the United States for healthcare premiums for average to decent healthcare. It’s a bargain. Never understand people crying about the weather who immigrate here, for Gosh sakes, you moved to a northern climate. What do you expect? Do you really expect the world climate to change for you and to be more like the southern hemisphere country you came from? Weather doesn’t work that way. Why did people leave their original country if they were just so wonderful in the first place? A ton of political instability where they came from and few jobs.

As a native Canadian I totally understand your stand on winter and inflation. As a native Canadian I think we don't inform immigrants and outsiders that winter climate does to alot of people. There is a seasonal affective disorder (very prevelent) in my father's family and even my mother unfailing optimism get's like you fatigue at the very least. Kids love winter but yes as a adult or even a teen many people retreat and feel isolated. As for inflation, I do hope you find a country where the gouvernement(s) aren't denying the insanity that is going on. To be honest, after centuries of being a Quebec native, I have fantasized very heavily about moving myself because even with a good salary things each year since Covid-19 have become just terribly expensive and it affect primarily basic shelter and food needs. I really want to live in a Muslim country, and being from NYC, I love the city so Dubai is the only option I can think of. But I feel like Dubai has changed, I want a place more Islamic. Canada has a massive hypocrisy that counters their 'inclusive' image. They are in fact more exclusive than most places, and extremely elitist, and discriminatory. Their immigration does not help matters by having a system that is SO insanely classist, that really only rich people can enter, and even then, it may not be enough. I read about a millionaire that was rejected entry, because they had a deaf child! Can you imagine?? So they are also extremely ableist as well, and lacking logic, as a millionaire can obviously afford their own child's medical care, and what does it matter anyway when Canada is supposed to have national health coverage?? So nuts. Yeah, they don't want to own that. They just love to call out the USA, whose immigration rules are FAR more lax than Canada's, or really most countries for that matter. Most people are totally ignorant about how the USA system actually works. Anyone can move to the USA. We let TOO MANY people in. Canada only wants young, rich, successful people to enter their country. I live in Ontario Canada. Generally; I vote Liberal. I voted Trudeau in twice.... now regretting it a little bit. He has done some good for me; but also bad.\nCanada started plummeting after COVID hit; and it has gotten worse. The main errors made by this government are with both the Liberals and Conservatives agreeing to 'grown' big corporates into HUGE monopoly corporates. TO compete with the USA. Due to this; we are now paying food prices through our ears!! Crazy. Also; there seems to be a level of corruption regarding the housing issue. No affordable housing. Not enough homes built. Only the rich can afford homes now. Government gets to tax that; and they love it! The rich class have more clout in voting for a government that aids them in making more and more money that they rob from the POOR house renters. The lower and middle class. As the Middle class in Canada is now becoming poor. The rich get much richer. This government is trying to bring in thousands of immigrants to stimulate the economy. But mostly; the immigrants have taken over all the lower Canadian jobs. We can't get them anymore. Because immigrants work cheap here; and sign onto contract deals with mega-corps that ensure they keep working for 2 years. Job entry level Canadians (are left without). There are also not nearly enough houses for immigrants to live in anyway! This government did not anticipate that we simply do not have enough homes for immigrants, nor Canadians alike!! What a fail. Healthcare is also failing huge... mostly thanks to the Conservatives who love to block almost every good healthcare BIll possible.
