Remember my days in Canada. My both children born in Montreal. Graduated from Concordia and started first job in Toronto in 1988-89. Hired by Northern Telecom in one of 1000s resume. Moved to Ottawa stayed there till got opportunity to move to Dallas, Texas within company. My seniors, boss in Ottawa everyone persuaded not to move. The homeless situation is man made created by Liberals. They opened boarder to the every one from across the world specially from African countries who flew their country for crimes.. Now its all over.. They also brought almost 2 million student without any housing and healthcare fix. Now I can see 4 to 5 students live in one room basement apartment each pay $700 a month.\n\nWe are now dropping below other G8 countries in terms of living standards. I remember back in early 90s when Harper was Prime Minister. He use to bring most wealthy business people to come here to open business and employ Canadian. That has boosted the Canadian economy until Trudue came to power and destroyed every thing been built. \n\nWe are fearful our future generation what kind of Canada they will get after 10 to 20 years from now. I hope the Liberals will be out and new PM will do some real work on to stop these useless immigration, international students who mostly come here live not for study as they give up after a year or so due to high cost of fees..

I've lived in Canada before - twice, and it changed drastically between those two times. These days, I wouldn't touch Canada with a ten foot pole. You may remember, I was living in Lviv, Ukraine — and then the invasion happened. That pushed me out; I have moved to Croatia. I found cheap rent on a 5 bedroom apartment — in a seaside city with a Mediterranean climate — and signed a 5 year lease. By now, I am more than 1.5 years into living in Croatia. (And, Croatia developed a reputation like Sweden, for very little Covid restrictions. So I have 1.5 years living with no medical questions, no mandates, no masks, and no vaccine passports. Outside of Sweden and Croatia, the rest of Europe is less interesting, because of how they were during Covid.)

Sounds like why when I had the opportunity to leave Cleveland; I made a bee line to the U-Haul garage to line up my truck and car trailer. When I left on a very busy morning looking down I-480 and going west from a west end suburb, going out of the city, and looking at the traffic entering the city ( 4 to 5 lanes going east and 4 to 5 lanes going west with everyone moving at 80 mph/129 kph except the east lane which was moving at 35 mph/56 kph with no more than 1 to 2 car lengths between each other) it hit me that I was darn lucky to survive all this without any major incidents. I also remember saying to myself, I can not wait to get out of this traffic. Either I was lucky or God had my Guardian Angle on 24/7 over time pay for the last 7 to 8 years. I was missing the people I knew but not the place and above all not the crime and traffic. ( at that time it was a 10 mile traffic jam into the city and getting worse every year & has gotten worse every year) That is why I am now living in a place like Melfort but in the USA. I am not recommending Melfort to you but if you want to stay in Canada then perhaps you need to find a place like Melfort or some nice far flung suburb of Calgary so that you can visit a city now and then. Take your time as you can travel around and work anywhere you think that you might want to stay, and for as long as it takes you to find your permanent nesting place. This is a luxury that few humans experience on this planet.

As a first gen Chinese American, and to be fair to the US, please remember (1) US has a border with Mexico, which means illegal immigration is so much bigger than legal ones that it sucks up much of the government immigration resources. (2l when the US population is as small as Canada's today, US was not only letting in people from all over the world but also giving them free land (google the homestead acts).

I’m with my fellow Canadians, I’ll visit the US (although even then, it’s beginning to look less and less ideal) but over my dead body would I live there. \nThe fact you have become desensitized and don’t discuss school shootings is baffling. 4 or 5 years ago, there was a shooting where I live in Canada. The whole city was on lock down. I believe one elderly woman died, and 3 were injured. The person was caught, arrested, and is rotting away in jail. It hasn’t happened since. People still remember it. My little sister and I were scared, so we hid in my bedrooms closet. (It was on the second floor, and there was no way anybody could break in and get up there easily.)\n\nHealthcare is a huge issue. My family has a long line of health issues, and with that in mind, the risk is just to obscene.\n\nI am a woman. The fact that laws are being stripped away from us by old white men who have no idea what it is like to be a woman in the states is horrifying. \n\nGun culture. It’s near-on impossible or at least it’s incredibly difficult to get guns here. Owning guns isn’t respected. When people die from being shot, it’s remembered and spoken about, even years later. At least to me, it seems you care more for your Guns and the rights to own and use them, then Women who want to have bodily autonomy.\n\nYour political issues. I don’t even know what to say at this point beyond. The entire senate is rich old straight white men who like to make laws about groups they aren’t part of, and strip laws away from others. You basically have two polar opposite sides of the political spectrum and that alone, divides people so deep they can’t even be in the same room for more then 10 seconds.\n\n\nI’m Part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Enough said. \n\nI’m well aware that not everyone in the US is like this. But in my eyes, that’s more then enough to deter me. You may want to remember comments on the internet don't necessarily represent a broad spectrum of the political spectrum. That said my wife who is from the US prefers Canada. Also we have lots of guns in Canada we just don’t tend to use them on each other.

Tyler, remember that the mass media plays a big role in this as anytime there is a school shooting in the US it gets reported in Canada. The news focuses on anomalies and these are still anomalies. I remember the first time I went to NYC in 1988 when it was still much more dangerous than it is today. When I got off the train I told my girlfriend not to take her camera out - but as soon as we rounded the corner from Grand Central it was wall to wall tourists and everyone had their camera out. I ended up having a great time and rode the subway all over the place, no problem whatsoever. I have travelled across the US several times and been to every single US state. There is huge variety and the US is my fav country in the WORLD for a road trip - so convenient, easy, interesting, beautiful and with friendly people everywhere. I have a message, having travelled to 105 countries on 6 continents and living 15 years of my life abroad in various countries - almost EVERYWHERE is safe in the world and full of mostly great people. TV isn't reality folks! If you are an idiot, you could get into trouble anywhere.

Don't take any of this to heart... remember that in Canada our Nightly News includes the US and the rest of the world ... good and bad .As a kid we travelled the States for 30 days every summer. We never encountered any problems except for racism. I remember we went to Wendy's for lunch we never had one in Canada back then. The manager walked up to the young kid cleaning the window and said nigger do better. We were all horrified and my dad looked at us three girls and said keep your mouth shut don't say anything. Despite that experience the States has so much to offer even today. Now as an adult my concern would be Healthcare and violence. I cannot comprehend people bearing arms at a McDonald's or Walmart or Target. I would still move to the US but be very picky about where. I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

When I think of the US the first word that comes to mind is THANKFUL. Thankful that all my ancestor’s immigrated to Canada. Especially the United Empire Loyalist’s that came and settled in Ontario. Also the ancestor's that fought for our freedoms, We will remember them. We up her in the great white north will always think of our cousin’s to the south and wish them all the best in the future.

I have spina bifida and I’ve had 20+ surgeries. I’m not leaving a country that kept me out of bankruptcy and death and kept me from getting shot. I’m white, but I’m not playing Russian Roulette with my life. I just in the last few years discovered cannabis as relief for my chronic pain. I know there are some places where it’s legal, but it isn’t worth the risk for me. I remember visiting LA when I was 12 and hearing about how cool and hip Beverly Hills was. When I got there, it looked worse than the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, which is one of the poorest, most crime filled places in Canada. It was scary. That’s not the kind of “freedom” I’m looking for. You can’t exercise any freedom when you’re 6 feet under.

Definitley desensitized by lack of choice regarding the school shootings. I remember the first time it truly shcoked me, when I realized (forget the year/time now) that there had beeen more school shootings in the US in ONE WEEK, than there had been in Canada in DECADES (I think I can count all of what we've had on one hand). Kids here grow up barely knowing (if at all until they are older) that it's even a thing.

I remember seeing a lot of conservatives say they’d move to Canada back when gay marriage was legalized in the US, but they didn’t realize we’d (Canada) already legalized it for a decade by then.

For the healthcare part, I didn't know that there is a shortage of service providers, because for almost 40 years I have been living in Canada, I could not remember my waiting time for the service, except in emergencies. Which don't give me a minute waiting time anyway.\n\nThe reason is I take advantage of free online healthcare education. The very same stuff the doctors need to update their knowledge. And I use food and healthy lifestyle as medical treatments. So, I survive with sickness including cancer and contagious illness from pandemic.

All these reasonings are pretty tame ngl. It's just 1st world problems after 1st world problems. Even the speed limit thing. There's nothing wrong with 50 even if it should be 70. You know, I agree on that, that there are times when the road is so empty I want to go past the speed limit. But the thing is, that's just a luxury. Wow! That was wild. Here in San Ysidro everything was calm and actually civil. People waited their turn. I live nearby so I saw it with my own eyes. People at las Americas outlet would pass by food to them and the officers gave them the food. I was an immigrant 35 years ago I am now a us citizens and although I love the USA, I will always remember the struggles I had to go through. The hunger, the injustice, the reject and the cultural assimilation, learning a new language, and work work work until I couldn’t no more. All those efforts paid off and I believe EVERYONE has a right to have a better life. I have family members in Canada and Europe who are also immigrants and also go through these struggles. If they don’t make it to the USA, I hope the Mexican government takes advantage of this immigration influx, after all, the USA is great because of us. I remember that after the American Revolution, the Africans (Blacks) who fought on the side of the British (Loyalists) were sent to Canada to escape slavery and as a reward for having fought. We have been in Canada for more than 240 years. Shame that it's still going on.

Everywhere around the world where Europeans colonized and destroyed the native people is based on white supremacy. The laws created in all of these places benefit the white citizens. Dear Canadians, when you come to terms you’ll never prosper, own a house or have a family, remember you sacrificed all that to insure Canada’s diversity. You might not feel it, but it’s your strength.

I have a lot of family and Alberta, as well as some in Vancouver and Toronto. Growing up, I always idealized Canada and wanted to move there so bad, despite the fact that I had 1st hand experience with Canadians who often told me the negatives.I tried to move to Vancouver twice, decided It didn't make economical sense for me. Once covid happened, it really made me thankful that I never made a permanent move to Canada. I also have to remember that most of the time I've spent in Canada was during the summer, and I have to remind myself the weather is only that nice for a short amount of time, most of the year you're buried under snow (or rain if you're in Vancouver).

Government workers get paid way to much in Canada and have to much power.. teachers and fire fighter make 100K with amazing pensions and it’s way harder to do in the private sector.. I remember in high school everyone wanted to be a teacher because it’s how you get rich… also there are thousands of government workers getting way overpaid… are only saving grace is foreigners coming in and starting business… really feels like USA will own is shortly

Remember in the 1970s and 1980 when Canada was respectful of all people. Women were respected int he workplace and treated as they should be in public. We opened doors for women, always said please and thank you. I always wondered why our prime minister said we were a racist nation. Why in the last 12 years has our standard living been decreasing along with all the services we once had, that our country could once afford. I think we are witnessing the fall of Canada. No longer having the freedoms we once knew, the respect we once had and the education on finances we were once taught in schools. Step by step, Canada is no longer the same country it once was even 40 years ago.

As an immigrant from Europe who came to the US legally, I'm very appalled that people have such low moral values that even when they're told no, they still come here illegally. I moved here because I like traveling, I come from a former communist country. However my country wasn't always safe, we had to fight for decades to make it safe. None of these immigrants care enough about their countires to make it safe for future generations, instead they leave. Remember, you're not an asylum seeker. An asylum seeker goes to the nearest country that's safer, the US and Canada are usually not that close.

The wage of a miner in the US is $38,000 p.a. and they have to live on site permanently. I'm sure you know all the stuff about employment conditions, healthcare and crime over there but Canada is a different proposition. Work in Oil & Gas in Canada can be good but I remember when the oil price sank and a lot of it became unprofitable, a lot of Aussies were the first to lose their jobs over there and had to come back. The cold will also be another interesting factor. Sincerely wish you the best though and that you end up somewhere where you feel happy. Who knows - it could still be Perth or somewhere in Australia.

Thanks….but I’m leaving Canada. Found a great little place to live on the other side of the planet…..with no snow. And no homeless or drug addicts living on the streets. The government there does not subsidize homelessness and drug addiction like Canada does.\n Remember…..that which you subsidize….you will get more of.

We have so much empty land so why deny these poor people the right to call Canada home. I don't know why certain people feel they have right over others but i welcome these people to Canada. Just remember we pay higher taxes, and everything cost more than your bi-weekly pay-cheque but welcome!!
