People have to understand that no international student would take hefty loans to fly half way around the planet and spend $17000-20000 per semester to study! There ain't no Oxford or Cambridge level university in Canada. The government knows this. The government found easy influx of money, and looked at international students as cash cows for a long long time. Representatives from public universities go to other countries to invite more students. The whole system was rigged to extract money. Circumstances are such that everybody will blame the students, but none will focus on the root cause. The top bosses have filled their pockets and bought lavish properties in GTA and the States. Now, they can close those colleges and universities.

If you go to Delhi on a visitor visa, why would the Indian government approve you of a post-graduation work permit or permanent residency? This is because India is not a country who have policies or programs for student visas or permanent residency for immigrants. Yes, indeed, they should not demand permanent residency, but it is not the students who make these immigration programs including student visas or temporary work permits or pr, it's the Canadian government who introduced all these policies, and if somebody is applying for student visa and spending $50000 for studies, they are applying because they see potential for permanent residency and that's how immigration websites do the marketing for attracting the international students. If they had known that work permits or pr is not possible through any programs, they would not have applied at the first point. It's the government's responsibility to make it clear on their policies or on immigration websites. Now they started making it strict by closing those programs but it's too late, what about the people who are already here invested their money. They did not enter Canada by just waking up one day and thought lets go Canada. The government welcomed them and they approved them. The argument of the reporter is totally wrong because they did not know that they would face hatred or racism when they applied for student visas. Now they saw a large population and started hating.

Sorry to break it to you. But whatever information your country is saying about how to permanently stay in Canada is LYING TO YOU. Rather than protesting, you all should have read the fine print from the official CANADIAN government.\n\nYou are here on just an INTERNATIONAL TEMPORARY STUDENT VISA. Temporary does NOT mean permanent. Once that expires THAT IS IT. You go back to your home country and apply what you studied in Canada over there!\n\nThen you wait in line like everyone else to properly apply for permanent residence. And here’s another thing: if you gotten approved for PERMANENT RESIDENCE, good for you. But with that status, YOU CANNOT VOTE IN CANADA!\n\nStop ruining it for others that are trying to permanently come here the RIGHT WAY. You’re NOT GOING TO GET AN EXTENSION ON EXPIRED FOOD GOING BAD. Don't label them as international students. Just call them as 'PUNJABI STUDENTS'. You won't see anyone from other parts of India participating in these stupid protests. 90% of these 'students' are from PUNJAB and the other 10% from Haryana and Delhi. mostly. There's also been a massive influx of Ukrainian refugees into Canada, over 700,000 applications were received from Ukrainians under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) in 2022. And especially been a major influx particularly into Alberta. Employers also receive many benefits for hiring Ukrainians under the CUAET, which has also lead to increased unemployment and reduced wages for entry level jobs. We should not allow refugees and international students, anyone who is deemed temporary to enter and/or remain in the country if we don't have the necessary supports.

Very appropriate question you asked in the start itself. They have no right to be here. They came on the pretext of studying and now they say they have a right. What taxes are they talking about. All International Students are aware that they have to apply for Work Permit but it is not a legal binding on the Canadian Govt. to give one. What is India doing to its minority and what about International Students do they give the citizenship. Canadian Citizenship is not for Free throw the Garbage out they can't even communicate.

I blame it mainly on the international student boom in the past few years. These frauds join bogus courses in bogus colleges. The entitlement and bad behavior of a few makes everybody else look bad. They are also not vetting them properly. So we don't know how many criminals have slipped through as well. To add to this these students have become so entitled now that they choose to protest and demand permanent residency. I have never seen non-immigrants from any country protest to get permanent residency. The main blame for all this finally has to be on the liberal government. You messed up big time and are not doing enough to fix this.\n\nAlso, why are parents of immigrants who get sponsored and come here being given access to social benefits from day1? Look at the US, you can sponsor a parents green card but that parent does not get any social benefits at least for a few years after they land in the country.

Backdoor immigration is detrimental to the country. All temporary visitors shouldn't be allowed to stay on. International students shouldn't be allowed to bring in family, buy property or remain to work. And work while studying should be restricted.

I am also India but it is illegal to pressurize government to extend their work permit or grant citizenship eventhough you have contribute enough to the Canadian economy. It is their country and they have rights who will come and who will leave. If they want to stay then they should start their businesses or consult to government migration agents. It is disappointing to see international students doing such unmature thing. Instead of doing protest they should learn about upcoming new courses in the era of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Electric Vehicles, Cyber Security, Healthcare and Agricultural Technology. I can understand the pain of Canadian and i am also a canadian now (immigrant), It is a total mess created by the government where government used international students as the cash cow from past 7-8 Years. Its the fault of both sides but the major culprit is the government. I was a also a new immigrant to canada in 2012 and I thanks alot to the open arms welcome for the immigrants by the canadians but when you put a pinch of salt in food its taste good and its was all good until 2015-16. but the government started putting the full carton of salt in small bowl of soup which made the food bitter now not just for the canadian generation but the immigrants which moved to canada before 2016. I hope in the next coming years things will change for canadians. In the last I would, If someone don't wants to welcome me in his home then I should not enter to his home. we should respect that where ever we should go not just canada, it applies to any part of the world and to everyone.
