When ur in other countries as a immigrant or ur basically a guest so follow the country law that ur immigrant in I feel like even tho I am from India live in Canada since 2014 I feel like I have to follow the rule of Canada I mean I am Canadian citizen now but still I can do my culture things too but at same time when other countries says no knifes in any public places or guns without any license even tho it’s part of ur religion it’s the rule u need to follow ur culture doesn’t work in other countries only work if it’s safe otherwise there nothing much u can do. My favourite festival from my country is Diwali and when I am in Canada i don’t use dangerous firework I only use smaller fire worker but I don’t use rockets and etc that can cause fires bec I am in Canada doesn’t mean I have don’t have to follow their laws laws r meant to keep people safe so i feel like the cop is on the right bec he doing his duty and following his own country law

Canada’s statistics are no different than Australia, USA and France for example in terms of homelessness and home ownership. Our foreign born population is about 20% -Australia it’s 22% - the USA the most immigrant fearing nation around has only 13% - that’s something to strive for lady!. \n\nCanada needs immigrants and lots of them to fill positions Canadian borns are too posh to do. \n\nWorld wide interest rates are high, housing developers are running into delays with things like world wide shortages and local communities having long convoluted permit processes, and volatile prices for home construction materials etc. \n\nWe Canadians are happy to buy from Chinese and USA manufacturers to the point we depend yet again on global markets. \n\nThe bottom line is the Provinces have authority over housing and haven’t wanted the Federal Government to butt in at all. It’s something that we have CMHC for mortgages and assistance to developers - but where are the developers? Not enough profit these days is there. \n\nI think we the people have failed in many ways. We need a scape goat and Trudeau is a very handy target. \n\nCanadians aren’t interested in repopulating by having more than one or two kids and so in order to sustain our economy and fill positions where do people think skilled and unskilled workers are coming from. Apparently being a nurse for example is not an occupation our children want nor do they want to clean toilets or work at Walmart or 7-Eleven. \n\nWe love shopping at Walmart with all its cheap Chinese goods and refuse to shop local businesses. \nWe get what we deserve. Canada needs Hispanics workers....they work in construction and never complain.

I am Indian and the lady who was talking about adapting to the culture in the country you’re in, is absolutely right. \nBut then, Canada also needs immigrants and workers who can take up minimum wage jobs and most of them pay taxes. But yes, there are also antisocial elements that cause problems for everyone. Perhaps, to Canadianize the immigrants, the Govt can have cultural exposure and introduction classes. I wont make a drastic change but would definitely be a start. That being said, I am not sure how Homelessness and Drug Addiction is a related to immigration, I would consider it a mental health problem.

It seems to me that thirty years ago it was Canadian youth who were saying they couldn’t get a job because they didn’t have the experience. We should have a glut of carpenters and plumbers and electricians but instead these industries are experiencing a short supply of skilled workers. Perhaps, given a chance, these temporary workers will learn the trades that are only expected to be in great demand with the need to house so many new Canadians.

You should make a video with data proving how these people are a burden to our society. Because if they pay taxes and are law abiding citizen filling a void in the job market or sectors needing workers i dont see the issue. Like do they have jobs? Do they pay taxes? Whats the problem?

Cmon lol let's not pretend these students didn't know they were getting a worthless piece of paper from Canadian diploma mills just to scam their way into Canadian citizenship. Sorry but our country is full, we don't need anymore fast food workers, security guards, and uber drivers. You got your education and now it's time to go back to India.

We need to train our OWN doctors, nurses and engineers by giving tax breaks to OLD-STOCK Canadians to have more children. I said that when I was 8, after hearing Trudeau Sr state that we were going to be short on workers. Why didn't they do that 50 years ago??

Many of these students were sold a bill of goods by various people who promised more than they should have. As our PM has stated students coming over has not been the issue, but having temporary workers come over has been. What had been traditionally 2% has been 7% plus. This is what needs to be reduced, but in most of these cases no one wants to do the jobs they have, such as fruit picking. I find some of the comments here as being offensive, don't need more Tim Horton workers. A number of these individuals are here for PR first and schooling second, this needs to tighten up. Your rant is counterproductive, and just puts out more hate, when we need to stop the hate.

They all have fake admissions letters to Canadian academic institutions there are unscrupulous agents in India who are sending these students abroad to Canada using fake documents… this is what is really going own know they don’t want to leave so they are doing this ?. They should be forced to leave asap. The entitlement is just shocking they aren’t even Canadian leave leave …… enough already. We don’t need more Tim Horton workers and Uber drivers ?. Some of the stats cited here are straight up wrong or... creatively employed, and there's a lot of contradictory information and the typical conservative 'the sky is falling' sensationalism and misattribution. That said, the bas supposition isn't wrong. The bubble we've been sitting on for 20 or so years has completely burst. As someone born and raised in the Toronto area, it's impossible for me to afford to own a house or apartment here on a teacher's salary. Even rent pushes me to the limit unless I want to live in a... less than nice area. I'm living hand to mouth and enjoying the benefits of living in a 'developed' country less. Here's why:\n\n1. Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. The wealthy upper crust of high population countries are moving here and buying property because Canada is (still) more safe and stable and less repressive than their home countries in most cases. \n\n5. There's a cycle beginning: as people are squeezed and forced to spend more on 'needs', they spend less on eating out, entertainment, and other 'wants'. These are significant drivers of the service economy and they're being hit hard. So, what can they do? They can let go of workers or lower product costs to remain profitable, but they their quality declines and, in a market where people are pinching every penny and looking for quality for their dollar, they're less likely to go back. They can raise their prices, of course, but then they price people out completely and their profits still tank. I went to a decent steakhouse for my dad's 60th last week. I can't remember the last time that I went to one before that. \n\n6. Our politicians and news cycles focus on the most niche and irrelevant stuff because it'll stoke anger and get tongues wagging. This carbon thing is almost a non-issue, but our conservative leader is harping on about it like it's singlehandedly the death of the Canadian economy when it's a drop in the bucket. Trudeau focuses on 'equity' measures, hoping for a bit of cheap good press, while his efforts are, for the most part, just window dressing and the issues, while meaningful, are often not of paramount importance or even applicable to the vast majority of the people who elected him. Meanwhile, the middle class is pretty much evaporating as he speaks. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

Canada needs foreign workers to replace our young dying off due to trudeau's free drugs.

We need workers that don’t change the entire demographic of our province. We’re being invaded, we’re literally being replaced by people who do not share our values. They need to go.

Coast to coast it's the same story: Liberal govt let useless 'paper mill' schools (mostly run by Indian scammers) fill the country with these kids with BS sales promotion of a path to PR status (most don't need or care about becoming citizens lol). The Liberals are toying with granting them PR status, but they know this will likely cost them the election. These kids are creating housing capacity problems, creating overcrowding on transit and in healthcare. Local charities are slammed with extra mouths to feed, and grocery stores are experiencing a spike in shoplifting because these kids did not come with enough money to house and feed themselves. The student visa program has been abused by criminals of course, so there's a spike in gangster activity and even a political assassination in Surrey BC. It's a crap show and the solution is for 500,000 of them to head home ASAP. (Yes, this may create a temporary shortage of fast food workers and delivery people, but I'll take my chances.)

We don't need these workers to come here and work at Tim Hortons. Marc Miller should not bend to their demands.

What a joke when my parents came in Canada in the 50s they were treated like slaves. You had to go in a certain part of Canada and work your ass off to died. These people are coming in getting social programs from the government and even complain. What a joke, wake up Canada because these are European workers they’re from a Third World country where they can get a bite to eat. They’re happy here too, but bring their culture to Canada. Nobody pays 4-times the tuition of a domestic student just for a degree from Blablabla college. Of course almost everyone comes for PR, because Express Entry was a stable immigration system, but now the system allows fraudulent LMIA holders to go through, and the actual skilled workers are paying the price because NOBODY can score such high score in Express Entry (current draws). The current draw cut-off scores are unrealistic.\n\nThe government allowed 90k unskilled workers to get PR through the TR to PR program (was a mistake), but now have made it difficult for the actual Federal High Skilled applicants. Canadian immigration is now so messed up, it favors the junks of the world and ignores the real skilled people. I myself have a Master's degree in Canada from a top University, have Canadian work experience, have foreign work experience, scores highest possible in IELTS, still I cannot score 529 for express entry. Conversely, a mediocre asylum seeker or fraud LMIA holder easily gets PR. Express Entry is no longer a stable system for skilled workers, it's now a lottery.\n\nBefore blaming international students for everything, you need to understand the real problem. Whether everyone is entitled to PR, NO! But, the skilled workers with excellent CRS scores (490+) should be able to stay to benefit Canada & get a good career for themselves as well. Otherwise, Canada itself will suffer from skill shortages just in a few years.

We don't need construction workers. There are plenty of laid off construction workers in Ontario right now. There isn't a lot of construction going on right now.

I beg to differ - yes, you can blame the immigrants, as they're the root of the housing affordability crisis both in Canada and in the United States. We seem to have mass immigration simply for the sake of having it. If we really needed cheap labor, we could have guest worker programs, or allow in only people who intend to do menial labor. Instead, everyone gets in, including a lot of criminals who reduce the quality of life, as well as others who are just taking up space and making life a hell of a lot more expensive for the rest of us.

28-year-old Female Sydneysider from Australia here. Apologise in advance for the long post and rambling.\n\n\nNot sure if it is just me, so please correct me if I am wrong. Just probably now too overly 'realistically too cynical'. So please take my input with a grain of salt. 

For context’ sake, for most of my adulthood I have always been poor & I am born with special health needs (E.g. disabilities).
\n\n\nSometimes on forums we are often contrasted to Canada, for some reason. Both Canada and Australia have remarkably similar problems with a different coat of paint. Sydney, for instance, has always been high up in the list of the cities with the highest cost of living in the world. Usually within the top 10-20. 

COVID-19 obviously made this issue clearer in some circumstances because we couldn't 'work' at all. Unless you were an essential service worker, to mentally block out personal and local difficulties.\n\n\nWe still have not recovered from that 2–3 years global shutdown. The only reason I was allowed to work for a period was because I work for the animal industry and aid in animal welfare. 

I still lost my job due to COVID-19 regardless and knew I would never get a decent job again. Merely just the last poor sod on the boat to be thrown off. 

Could not become a vet nurse despite working very hard. Just because no one wants to give me '2-years permanent paid experience’ to be taken seriously. 

At the same time, way too many employers will happily take 2+ years of veterinary students volunteering at their vet clinic. With the vague promise of a permanent job.

Which, of course, never happens, then say we are being too demanding or spoilt for politely asking for said job.\n\n\nHow are we supposed to pay off our student debt if any financial service expects us to have a per meant job to pay anything off??

 No, they do not want to train nor help you. They just want free labour, then kick you out once your time is up. All my jobs have been casual, and my animal industry has already become heavily casual based ages ago. Permanent job is like looking for a magical unicorn.\n\n\nSo, even if you and your relatives lived in the way outer suburbs of Sydney for decades, being typically considered roughly lower-middle socio-economic families. 

The younger adults and kids all know and have been aware for years, they have no future at all due to having an inflated cost of living. Sugar-coating it, saying it might go in a positive direction, sounds like a blatant lie. We all know it is a lie.\n\n\nNowadays, in contrast to the late nineties and early 2000s when I was just a tiny naive kid that didn't know any better. There seems to be a more jarring split between the income brackets of what the country assumes who is poor, middle class or rich today. 

\n\nBy today's standards, my family is no longer even considered close to the very lower end of the middle class if you were reaching hard. We are considered 'poor' just because my parents do not earn roughly $50,000 — $150,000 AUD a year on their own in 2023. When something does not change within roughly 5–10 years, it is more than simply just valid for us to feel like we cannot fix what has been broken.

the trouble with immigration policy in canada is that it is no longer tied with the economic need but has become rooted in an idea that immigration is something that is always progressive and desirable. Hence, the more the better, has been the guiding principle for years. any discussion of the merits of liberal immigration policy was discouraged and any questioning of an ever growing number of newcomers was portrayed as racist. bad actors in the form of unscrupulous businesses capitalized on this attitude and started importing ever larger number of temporary foreign workers which depressed wages and incomes. To the mix were added international students who came into the country in their hundreds of thousands in search of work and eventual permanent residence rather than education. critical mass was reached in 2022 and was further exacerbated in 2023. things got so completely out of control that even LPC - the champions of large scale immigration, had to implement some half-baked and half-hearted measures to stem the flow. where this will end up is anybody's guess but once the floodgates are open, they are virtually impossible to close. i am sure we will be dealing with the consequences of imprudent immigration policies for years if not decades to come.

Canada can't continue with this amount of immigration. Honestly, IMO, Canada should only be considering skilled immigrants, and importantly, immigrants who can speak either English or French articulately. My daughter had a resident doctor who was Indian, who was going to perform a procedure which included using a scalpel on her tongue (she was tongue tied, minimally). I couldn't understand a word he was saying, neither could she. He got so mad he threw the scalpel at the wall. I went and got the supervising physician, and we got the procedure done. My point here is, yes we need skilled workers, but they need to be able to communicate with the general public.\nAlso, the family reunification program needs to be overhauled. No seniors unless the sponsors can pay for them out of pocket until death; and no extra money for children who are brought over that arent the sponsors biological children.

im a huge advocate of diversity but this is just too much ... I live in Toronto and i lost two jobs to massive Indian immigration and probably counting, because they r desperate n willing to work themselves to the bone for pennies ... u cant compete with that\n\nas i got phased out, every single one of my co workers became indian, as i roam the streets, all i see r indians riding around on ebikes doing delivery, even in china town a lot of the general populace appears to be indian\n\nim unable to find a decent job because everything is flooded with applications\n\nvery important to note that however hard it is to accept, we cannot blame the actual immigrants ... the government/authorities r letting them in, they need to have much stricter control\n\nnever in my wildest dreams have i ever needed to even consider leaving canada, but at this rate this is what it is coming down to ... i dont want to live in a third world country in the west tyvm

Villainizing immigrants is not the way to go here. Citizens and Immigrants are both , regardless of status, subject to the same conditions as workers. Immigrants come here because they have a chance, they dont know about our burdened social services and homeless situations, if u had the same chance as them you would take it, getting angry at immigrants and not the government for not establishing enough social services to tend to THEIR welcoming of millions of immigrants is THEIR fault, NOT the immigrants. They want immigrants here to work and for economic reasons, yet they wont ever tend to the social needs of such a project and make the citizens suffer as a consequence of their malpractice.\nPlease redirect your frustrations to the government and not the immigrants who just wanted a chance.

Indians leaving India in droves due to better opportunities for them, as well, the high amount of corruption with their government at all levels. This is directly from the co-workers I work with. Canada immigration is letting far too many people who shouldn’t be allowed here. Many of my Indian friends will vouch this as well. They all left Brampton to pursue other cities across Ontario. They agree, many undesirables back in India have come to our shores, with money laundering and crime. Canada literally needs an army of people to start deporting those who have lied on their documentation, add little value to our economy or country.

When I passed my Post Graduation in 70' s from London University ( in Engineering) Canadian Embassy gave me Visa and One way ticket for free. While I was in Embassy waiting .. I saw some colorful journals and green in summer mounds of snow in winter. I had grown up Central Indian Climate. 5 years in England still kept me alienated environ cold weather and Culture. Most disturbing was visible Brown skin foreigners for ever.....at 2nd tier of Society ,..... after getting 4 month Valid visa I started probing fron friends who had earlier migrated to Canada. Living, impediment of long very cold winter, 1970's Canada was still racist and Parliament had strong bill waiting to stop colored immigrants and keep country white...Then in 1975 the Bill was voted down. For the reason that old white generation was aging and demanding Pension and Health Care. Welfare Chest was showing bottom and had to be replenished by tax money. Young tax payers were needed. India, China and Black Carribian were overflowing with young workers...so they had swollow Colored immigrants. Country was the largest but most commercia cities are at border of America, because north is brutal cold. Canada could not build population. 30m (10% of USA.) And Economically behind CA$= 0.80USD. Let the Visa expire...and went back to my old country to Start my Consultancy office. Lived in upper middle class tier and retiring with comfortable cushion to survive . Saw the whole world during past decades of active life... Including Canada US China . Don't regret living among brown people where my roots are. No body looks at me as colored foreigner. This is my personal history..Others have other priorities in life.

well I have to say that this video is yet another white man complaining how the country is when they sat and watched it happen over the past 20 years. BOO Hoo you're the minority now sucks don't it. Not being able to get hired white people homeless living in the streets and entire areas are being taken over by immigrants. WHAT TO HELL HAVE WHITE PEOPLE BEEN DOING FOR 20 YEARS!! No mass protests, no private members bills, no community organizations to stem the tide of immigration. It seems what you're saying is if it isn't white, it isn't right and now finally enough white people are feeling what it was like for every brown or black person and other non white groups (still shit on) for the past 50 plus years. I lived and grew up in small town Canada during the 80s and 90s and I can tell you white people weren't very friendly, and they certainly didn't hire people that were nonwhite for any of the good paying jobs, the data exists if you care to look. I think instead of promoting division and board line hate why don't work with these communities and find out why they only hire their own. Maybe pay back for the decades of being shit on by white Canada would probably be a reason you may hear; I know I do and have because I've asked owners of the companies. They are fed up with driving cabs and doing shit work so instead of crying about it they created communities or took over communities and made it so they don't have to reply on or hope that whites will help.... THEY HELPED THEMSELVES. and if you as a white person sat around and watched and let it happen since this didn't happen overnight well you are right where you belong, something to consider. Maybe had that happened 20 or 30 years ago, Canada may not look like it does today. \nRemember immigration was initially intended to bring in workers for a set amount of time and then they were sent back. SKILLED WORKERS AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FUND EVERYTHING IN THIS COUTRY WITH THEIR OWN LIFE SAVINGS - IT IS A SYSTEMIC ISSUE, A SCAM!!!! - We need leaders, political parties, and Members of Parliament who are dedicated to pausing immigration for at least five years to tackle these systemic issues effectively. If your local MP is indifferent to this matter, they are effectively supporting the ongoing crisis. The current situation is untenable and harmful, affecting both Canadians and immigrants who contribute equally yet see little return on their hard work.

Well, as an immigrant, I am sorry for the Canadians who were born here. The thing is though, until our government can find a way to solve the birth rate problem or labor shortage, mass immigration likely will continue. \n\nMy work contains data analysis of our job market and here is what we found: even with this level of immigration, our labor supply right now in Canada is still slightly below replacement level. In less than a decade, the majority of people in the workforce will retire. This creates two problems: 1) more retirees mean more pension needed from the government; 2) government needs tax money to pay for pensions, but the workforce is shrinking so there will be less tax payers. I don’t see a good solution to this unless some super AI saves the day. Of several bad solutions (gambling is more like it), immigration has a chance of turning things around. But either way, the next generation of workers will be the most overworked and heavily taxed in decades.

We have the same problem. I actually like the people, but….somehow, immigrants have managed to have been able to acquire the vast majority of retail jobs in our area. How is that possible? There are businesses and fast food chains with not one white person working as an employee. I spoke to a former worker that was at one of these businesses for years and asker her WTF happened? She told me that the company hired a new manager from India, within 6 months, half the staff were Indian, local students were not being hired for part time jobs, only Indians, by the end of the year, every single employee was Indian. \nShe along with other quit their jobs because….not because they’re racist, but because not only were they being treated differently than the now majority brown workers, but they were being made to feel excluded because…the manager and the new staff all spoke a different language, they would all work together in a group not speaking English at all, saying things and laughing making it pretty obvious that they were making fun of the white employees. The “manager” would ignore the white staff’s complaints and he would then seemingly punish them by giving them less hours, change their duties and give “the good shifts” to the new brown people to the point where the white people were made to feel alienated as well as cutting back their hours leaving them with not enough hours to make a living. “This is Canada Mother Fecker” these people need to speak our language when they’re in public or at the workplace with “Canadians” or…employers should fire them. I will note, that the A&W that this happened at, has changed not only by every single employee being brown, but the service is not near as friendly, they all speak to each other in a different language behind the counter.. the seating area is not even close to being clean, the tables usually are left with trays and garbage that aren’t being cleaned as customer leave. It so bad sometimes that I literally have to pick a dirty table and remove the garbage myself because every available table has not been cleaned….and the bathrooms …. I don’t even want to talk about it they’re so disgusting. And when you complain….they turn to other employees and speak a different language… so we have no idea about WTF they are actually doing or saying about the issue. “ Thank you Sir, we will take care of that.” And the next day…it was the same. I’ve stopped going there along with everyone that I know…our work crew along with our families can no longer support such a dirty, rude and disrespectful business.

The PSW job description you're describing as a social workers job is NOT a Social Worker occupation tile. That service is called Home Care Service or personal care service to the elderly or who need assistance care in the home. A Social Worker DOESN'T do care needs. Their job duty is to provide the care plans and resources for the patients needs.

There's definitely a money threshold in Canada you NEED to make to .... have fun and live well. If you're a lifetime renter, or entry level worker.... it doesn't make sense. My family is established from previous happy decades. But even for us there is stagnation and living on savings (many family members moved back to EU, and I'm thinking of it as I'm fluent in many languages there). in my opinion - its the governments cold hard financial planers who decided they need new young workers to pay taxes and social security to support all the older generations retiring , so they import foreigners , now 23% of Canadian were not born there , or 30% of Australians were not born there --- but the actual people who live there look around and wonder why 30% of the country doesn't speak the same language and has extremely different culture values and feel displaced from there own homes , also foreigners tend to work cheaper and take housing supply -- lowering wages and driving up housing costs further angering locals

It's made a mess of the immigration system esp with regard to temporary foreign workers and international students along with decades of poor planning in key areas like housing, health, education etc. Needs lot of changes soon imo

Canadians have to decide what they want to prioritize. We can keep education at its current level if we either pay more in taxes or allow the students in. Otherwise we have to start paying at minimum double what the current domestic price is. Same with our food. People are complaining that prices are too high, but prices need to get higher if we want to start employing Canadians on farms and in factories at livable wages. Canadians don't want to acknowledge that as messed up as it is right now, we need to pay substantially more for day to day for things we take for granted if we don't want to rely on the labour exploitations of immigrants and temp foreign workers.

Canada needs to help ODSP injured workers like how come if we work hard for an employer and we get injured permanently we are doomed to life in poverty??? Its bulshit!!! I live in Nova Scotia and most of our population is practically now Indian population it was never like that say 8 years ago,im fine with anyone from any country living here for sure but it must not be bad for them because they have moved here in droves,practically every business is filled with indians all working in them and including where i work,ill tell ya there dedicated workers and work hard and i get it they need the hours to get there Canadian citizenship?So is there a long time perk of being indian and moving to Canada,Nova Scotia perhaps that i dont know about?Because us Canadians that have lived here all there lives are definitely not getting any perks or barebones living for godsake.
