There is no housing problem. There is a big problem with people not earning enough to rent and the Canadian Government cannot commandeer housing and give it to immigrants like they do in NYC and San Francisco: free housing, free ATM card for food, and city services. Canada will be poorer and poorer all because of the Trudeau leadership accepting more immigrants that is changing the face of Canada.

It's straight up frustration with our puppet prime minister. He's doing what the WEF & Dr scratchnsniff tells him to. Flooding a country with immigrants has increased homelessness & made getting a job impossible. Even more impossible is getting ahead financially. Indian people are coming over in droves, led by the lie that everything is better in Canada, and they're not adopting the Canadian culture & integrating unhealthy aspects of their third world culture. It also doesn't help that the only political figure who can help fix the problem is also East Indian but refuses to do anything because he doesn't want to lose his pension.\n\nWho i really feel bad for are the Indians who have lived here & integrated into the culture and feel like they're guilty by association. \n\nIf the Indian people were more adept to adopting the Canadian culture, the momentum shift would be insane.

As a Canadian PR holder, the immigration system is broken. The fact that people who can't speak English, with criminal backgrounds and unqualified individuals can come in and stay while I had to wait 2 years for background checks and a 8.5 IELTS score, is insane. It shows that qualified workers aren't wanted but rather just get as many people from only one single country in the name of multiculturalism. Another thing which attracted me to Canada was the chance to experience different cultures but all I see are Indians and especially immigrants who don't want to integrate because Trudeau is happy with that and they bring their countries' domestic problems to Canada (read Gaza idiots and Khalistanis)

There is very slim chance that the flight attendant can get the PR through the skill migrant program in Australia. They are leaving because the minimal hourly wages cannot support their living in the big cities like Toronto and Vancouver. \n2. High income tax ? In UK the top tax bucket is well over 40%. In Australia you need to pay 45% income tax plus 2% medical Levy surcharge\n3. High cost of living? I think the cost of living in London of UK and Sydney of Australia are also exceptionally high. The cost of living affordability depends on the income of the migrants. Low income working class will feel the cost of living and housing pressure. Rise in crime: I do not understand this logic as the migrants left Canada to US - the city of LA, New York, Seattle and Chicago are far worse than in Canada \n5. Limited Career opportunities: the only country that has better career opportunities is US. Why is every government such as Canada that follows the WEF directives have such destructive problems? Just curious, does Canada consider melanin anemic people, flown in from European countries considered ‘illegal immigrants’? The U. S. has similar problems designating who does or doesn’t have illegal immigrant status which then determines who stays and who’s deported. ?

It's like Canada's problems could be solved if virtually all of the students went into healthcare. The solutions be common sense and yet countries will not implement them. How about make it easier for students studying healthcare to be able to immigrate.

I was born and raised in Canada and last august I left to move to the Czech Republic. If you’ve ever been there you’ll know it’s not the cheapest country and I live in the most expensive city. I still am able to afford to live off my not so high salary of an English teacher. I wouldn’t be able to afford living away from my parents in Canada, I’m not saying it’s been easy or cheap, I have 6 roommates and my rent is over 50% of my monthly salary. I had to take out a loan from my parents to afford all the visa fees and hidden costs of moving to another country. However if I had stayed in Canada I would have been earning less because I couldn’t find a job in my field. I am filled with rage about the governments decisions to mess up the country like they have. And yes we have an immigration problem but they are not the problem, it’s the government. My mother was an immigrant to Canada, and yes she’s doing okay right now but things have changed a lot since she immigrated and how Canada is now.

Problem is that for very skilled immigrant, the celing that you can reach in your career is rather low. Be it permanent jobs in academia or proffessorships. You are more than welcome to work as scientist for German professors, contribute with your ideas etc but moment you wish to start on your own, my god the resistance!

In the Philippines ( I'm focusing on that country as a born Canadian Filipino ) there was a 40% rise in, not only immigration, but exclusively mostly caucasian immigration to the Philippines. Prices in the Philippines then skyrocketed exponentially. Yet, they ( The Philippines ) NOT ONCE complained....in general, let alone frabricated ussues to complain about like the manner which is demonstrated in all of North America. So, how much worse, how much more problematic, is the basically small percentage of immigration is in Canada?\n\nFurthermore, in the Philippines exclusively, the immigrants there, not care to learn the Filipino language and would rather go poor, than contribute to the labour force of the Philippines. The big problem is that Canada increased immigration without having the infrastructure for them. Immigrants tend to move to major populations like Toronto, Vancouver, etc because there are typically more jobs, so these towns had their numbers increase faster than our social net could handle. Add in long-term Governmental reductions in spending on things like housing, healthcare, education with more people to service, and you end up with the housing crisis and inflation that we have.\n\nI understand why immigration was pushed; it was partially because people are collateral on the world stage. The larger your population, the more a country can borrow because you have more people to pay back those loans through taxation. It should work ... As long as you have the infrastructure to support the new citizens.\n\nImmigration needs to be dramatically reduced from current levels for a few years while we work to get up to speed for the populace we have.

I’m an international student, from my perspective it seems like the government can’t keep themselves from messing with the economy, basically crippling it by regulations, making the market unable to take advantage of the increased labor supply.\n\nI have spent almost half a million in Canada, which includes tuition, living cost, and starting a business which now employs two Canadians. But because I spent one term as a part time student, I have became ineligible for PGWP, which means I have no way of staying in Canada through my own agencies.\n\nThat is a slap in the face for immigrants whove come here to settle, the fact that I have positively contributed to the Canadian economy than many Canadians ever have, while withdrawing absolutely zero from public benefits, now if I buy a house here yall will drop on me a 50%+ capital gains tax and then kick me out, why would anyone want to invest in Canada? Turns out that the problem was that we didn't built the infrastructure in the nineties before inviting a million people a year in 2020-ies. \nI am so relieved to know that the irresponsible immigration policies of the current government have nothing to do with it!

Canada is building a tonne of housing as is, a bit less than in the past, so yes, issues with the growth of red tape, zoning, development taxes, etc should be addressed, but the problem has mainly been that the population has been growing at an exponential rate, in the past decade. The construction workforce actually doesn't have that many immigrants - around 77% are Canadian born, compared to 73% of the overall workforce, and I suspect the 23% that are immigrants are probably mostly immigrants that have been here a while, with very few temporary workers (which are mostly in retail/commercial services, elder care, and agriculture). That means immigration has been a bigger problem for increasing housing demand, compared to any benefit to increasing the supply through increasing construction workforce, especially when you consider that the size of the construction workforce is proportional to the total population, while the housing demand is more correlated to population growth. \n\nThere is also the differentiation between expanding infrastructure/housing supply, vs improving/maintaining it. It would not be a bad thing if we were able to shift some of the construction workforce towards improving our stormwater infrastructure, fixing roads, and building transit alternatives (improves quality of life), rather than just building more and more new roads and homes just to keep up with population growth (maintains quality of life).

Same with rent price increases.....crazy prices over the last 10 years....25, 50, over 100% price increases......Over 20 years of kaos. The entire Immigration System got screwed up somewhere, due to Government Ministers who had or have NO clue what the job entailed.\nI came to Canada in mid 1970s from ENGLAND. I was not allowed into Canada, unless I could prove that I could READ, WRITE, and \nSPEAK ENGLISH (many will attest to this) I had to prove that I was EDUCATED enough, to be able to be employed. I had to have \nenough money so NOT to have to access government funds. Please think about this! The immigration system under harper worked well.... the problem its the Liberals does not have a system... its like an open bar.... I am an immigrant and took me 3 years under harper administration to get my PR and i paid all my medical and security checks before I came here...

I appreciate your take. I believe Canada's key issue is that it is facing a cultural decay, which is not exclusive to Canada. Many countries in the west are challenged by similar things such as aging populations and unaffordability. \n\nIt works in a cycle: governments and corporations take turns screwing over the general population and most people cannot afford anything. Corporation does A then government does B; government does X then corporation does Y. On the surface, government is _trying_ to do a good thing, but it backfires quite often, leaving the average person feeling scorned. \n\nChief among these corrective measures was mass immigration, and because there was already a climate of indignation, the introduction of too-many-immigrants was a huge slap in the face. Instead of making sure Canadians were better taken care of, the government responded to the corporations--not the people. \n\nGDP numbers mean nothing to the average Canadian person if their quality of life is in decline. The only people still in favour of mass immigration are those who do not have to confront it on a day-to-day basis. Even Canadian-born (or even Canadian Citizens of 5+ years) minorities, think the immigration problem is too much.

The problem is neoliberalism and capitalism. The 2 main political parties are hand in glove with neoliberalism and capitalism.
