Canadian people don’t even like Trudeau ??

Stay strong Canada! Trump is starring in the movie Canadian Bacon. \nWe the people need to stand against trumps and his fascist administration and the traitorous republican legislators!

As an American and a Trump supporter, I agree with these tariffs, but only equal to the tariffs other countries charge the United States on our imports. I do not agree with imposing this on our brothers and sisters to the north. I’m speaking of the good people of Canada. I have traveled to Canada and crossing the border was just like crossing into another state. Yes, there was a border gate which there should be, but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I hope our government can work this out very quickly and stop this foolishness. But to countries like China and Europe the United States should charge a reciprocal tariff as to what you charge us on our import. It’s only fair. Why are we paying an exuberant tariff for our goods entering your country and you expect to pay nothing with your goods entering ours. Most Americans, love Canada and love our Canadian brothers and sisters, we’ve always supported each other in world, wars, and other attacks against our respective countries. I pray this is resolved quickly, and then we can once again live United and in harmony.

I used to work as an interpreter with Canadian Armed forces in Afghanistan.. Canadians are very nice people they fought American war for 20 years but now the US has turned its back to all the allies.what a shame to America.

While I don’t agree with Trumps tariffs, I understand why he’s doing them. As a Canadian citizen, please don’t glamorize Trudeau- hes a spoiled rotten brat of a former PM. Nothing more. You’ve not lived the last 10 years under his totalitarian govt, suspending the rights of Canadians at will, insulting and dividing our country at will, taking away legal firearms owners rights rights at will (people who had to pass safety courses and are more vetted than RCMP officers). \n\nHe’s proven to be more fake than a $3 dollar bill. All the liberal & ndp’s in Canada are. He has the worst record in Canadian history as a PM, including the highest taxes, home prices, massive, unsustainable immigration, and the worst healthcare crisis in Canada’s socialized medical system since its inception. \n\nHe’s accumulated more debt than all previous PM’s COMBINED (as per the PBO). \n\nThen he comes on here after he resigned on Jan.6th - yes after cratering Canada’s economy methodically for the last 10 yrs - to inflame the POTUS and who will pay for that? Canadian and American working class citizens. \n\nIf you think Canada is so great, you’re either a wealthy boomer, or have no clue what it’s like to work for a living in this modern economy in Canada. People are required to work 2-3 jobs just to afford the basics. Wages have been stagnant since the 90’s here, with cost of living rising 600-700% in the last 10 yrs.

As a Canadian who lives in (largely French-speaking) Quebec, I don't know if our gov't even NEEDS to tariff American consumer goods, the people here are already boycotting US goods and companies en masse. EVERYBODY is doing it - and the pace isn't going to recede anytime soon. Even after the Orange Turd is long gone, trust me, Canadians will remember this! The American state has proven it cannot be trusted. They have unilaterally broken the trade agreement (negotiated by the previous Donald J Chump administration) on the flimsiest of reasons, the 00.2 % of fentanyl that flows over the border into the US from Canada. That deal now obviously not worth the paper it was signed on.

When trump recommended terrifs everyone cried “oh that will only hurt Americans” but then Canada does it in response and everyone cheers? Like isn’t he by your own logic now screwing Canadians? Which is it people?

I'm a born Canadian and i'm BAFFLED at how you would turn around and impose tariffs on your closest ally. Canada and the US had a relationship that was built on trust co-operation and trillions of dollars and it means nothing to their current president. I used to be a fan of Trump, but the recent situation with Zelensky along with the tariffs i can see more and more that having him back in office was a huge mistake. Trump obviously doesn't care about how the tariffs affect his country and his people because he responded by threatening to raise the tariffs in retaliation to Canada's response.

If the Canadian government wants to compete commercially with the US government, it doesn't have to threaten the American people that it will increase inflation in America. What Canada has to do is comply with what the US government has told it. The US has told Canada to stop drug trafficking from Canada to the US. That's all. But they haven't done it. Canada won't gain anything by threatening the US.

Canada is already owned by USA. All our major businesses are American owned. We even sold our Fighters Jets, oil, lumber and natural resources for pennies. The Canadian people need tax cuts. The native Canadians live without clean water in Reserves all across northern Canada in third world conditioms. As a South African, I want to say that this trade war, as well as the hostile approach of Trump towards Canada, is devastating. If one were not experiencing it directly, it would be almost impossible to believe. This is such a remarkable speech that it will go down in history as one of the truly great speeches in times of crisis. It is entirely correct to address the American and Canadian peoples directly, as the Prime Minister has done. They are both clear victims of this madness, Americans misled, and Canadians the target, of this senseless trade war. If one reads History, there is another dimension to this, and I hate to say it. Canadians have to prepare themselves for worse. These types of antics by the aggressor usually involve, finger pointing, contrived border incidents, plausibly deniable incursions and other actions, by the aggressor, which one can find if the preludes to the WW1 and WW2 are studied. I am not sure if you have porcupines in Canada, but you need to rapidly become one.

I am a true Patriot of Canada, but we have been living on boral time when it comes to our defense systems, including the borders. And we have depended on the U S far too long, and for that I blame the Canadian government. The Trudeau/liberals said they were going to fix it well here we are unprepared now here we are 10 years later. We need an election right now. Canadian government has made Canadians paralyzed for decades with high tax rates, made worst business decisions emptied citizens pockets to fill outsiders and their own. Instead of making Canadians rich you have made us poor. I don't disagree to standup for yourself but our foundation is the weakest. If you want to change something think of Canadians make things easier...STOP making admissions hard for professionals pay more wages where its needed and stop increasing minimum wages without improving the lifestyle of people. A 16 yr old making minimum wage and don't even know what to do with the money improve the quality of life. Make businesses boom by helping them with easier access to grants and business approvals. Help investors to grow and help middle class to become investors, make import export much easier. As an American, I stand 1 million percent with the Canadian people and their government. It's a bummer as our Toronto area Canadian extended family has cancelled their visits to see us. However, we're going to arrange to visit them and meet just over the border in Sarnia this year instead. Win for Canadian tourism loss for US and Michigan.

Take into account the fact that this guy arrested, confined, fined and confiscated property of his own fellow Canadians citizens and starved people out during the pandemic.
