who's fault is that?\nnonmuslims in muslim nations face actual discrimination and prejudice, lacking freedom of religion varying in many islamic nations\nWITHOUT them doing frequent problematic acts or against even the discriminative laws of the nation\n\nin the west? its secular state free for all religions or background , and most of the religious ones don't want to actually integrate and keep loyalty to the very conservative islamic teachings , and seek to change things (applying elements of sharia law and so on) when they can despite the problems it has created in its real world application, that are totally against the secular values of the west and many other nations\nthen we have the frequent islamist radical terror attacks, as well as the neighborhoods where they transform it to something far from secular\n\nand you're surprised with that? look at those muslim woman in the west got interviewed, burqas.. doesn't care about identification issue in public place, and (in this case, judging by the books actually works out) these are the kinds of muslims with the most conservative mindset, thus the woman clad themselves in ninja suit and the guys with long beards and islamic traditional clothings, those are the most conservative of them, far away from being or appreciating secular\ngiven the chance, 100% absolute assertion that these are the ones that will try to change things to be more islamic, in PUBLIC place as well (the religion is that, political islam and public enforcement based on islamic 7th century values is a common thing when they can)\n\nthe ones who are actually integrating are mostly the less religious, actually secular muslims. Well, you can say actually secular iranians, arabians, turks, and so on (as muslims normally refer to the religion, which is not secular at all)\nthose are the ones that do, the west has been giving stage and empower the wrong group of these people

The muslim guy says the woman is very well educated how can a education in islam be an education they believe that salt water and fresh water dont mix and the world originated around 6000 years ago and they also belive that their god placed dinosaur skeletons to test their faith I saw that on a muslim interview btw so whatever see u can follow whatever religion u want but dont say I am very well educated but in religious books

Its sad that this family has to suffer but immigration laws were put into place for a reason. This guy was taken by lawyers for $15000 which is his life savings. The only reason he and his family went to Canada is due to Canada's leader welcoming all immigrants with open arms. Canada's leader only said that to make Trump look like a ass. Profiling exists with whites too, but it has to do with appearance, class and perceived intelligence; it isn't all about colour or race.\n\nI am a larger guy, with a shaved head and a beard. Sometimes I wear a suit and sometimes I am in jeans, a t-shirt and/or a leather jacket. When in a suit I am treated completely differently from when I am in my motorcycle or bumming around clothes. It is a fact that people profile everyone based on appearance, language (verbal ability), and how they are acting. Unfortunately, a person with visible differences, such as skin colour, can't change into something that attracts less attention, but, a black man in a suit is still less likely to be profiled than one in everyday clothes.\n\nAlso, I am well spoken, which makes a difference in the way I am treated. If you speak in a way that makes you sound less educated or of a lower class, then you are treated differently.\n\nTry sending in a white guy who is less clean-cut and less well-spoken and see the difference in the way he is treated. Have him act a bit nervous, look around a lot, or appear to be less than middle or upper class and see the difference in how he is treated. I guarantee he won't get good offers in those apartment buildings, if he gets any offers at all.\n\nA friend once told me a story about a friend of his who was very well off. This man went into an exclusive car dealership to look at a car on display. He didn't like to appear as well of as he was, so often wore simple jeans and t-shirt. When he asked the price of the car, the salesman took one look at his clothing an told him he couldn't afford the car. White profiling at its finest.

This central american guy is no real refugee. He is just a law breaker who violated immigration laws so he could bypass the legal system and those who actually go through the process. Not only did he violate US and Canadian territory but also Mexican as well. I understand his motives, but no sympathy here for law breakers like him. There is an immigration process and he must respect it.

Why do all these immigrants think the law doesn't apply to them. This guy may as well be slapping those who immigrate legally right in the face while giving them the middle finger.

Did she just list honor killings as a part of Islam??? This journalist needs to research the religion properly because honor killings are not condoned whatsoever... this concept is just belted out by haters who are on a smear campaign of Islam. And then this journalist gave that farzana lady the last word of her 'critical' views on Islam it just undid everything the Muslims were doing before her giving a clearer picture of Islam, farzana lady will just make people confused I mean those are her personal opinions but how does it help this piece? Also last time I checked following fashion trends is not synonymous to peer pressure as what journalist wants to suggest that girl was peer pressured in to wearing the scarf when she clearly explained she wasn't. And when that guy was talking about teaching women Islamic studies journalist is like but you just teach them Islam not anything else WELL it's a mosque that's what people usually do if they want to learn religion they go to place of worship, if they want to learn something else they go to school or university. She's just twisting their words to give this undertone to the piece that yes the stereotypes are true but Muslims are still somewhat ok. Just stop spreading the hate and provide non-bias journalism!

I'm sorry these guys were discriminated against but has any white Caucasian travelled to an Asian country or India., well if you have, you will find that we're the ones discriminated against. It's happened to me several times and it's wrong no matter where you are. Judge on actions, not colour.

Well if you are brainwashed as a child and told or lead to believe you will not be loved unless you are religious then it is really not a free choice.Much brainwashing has occured in Childhood so it's not a rational adult making a rational decision. It's little Hajira trying to please her disapproving religious and ofter violent Daddy underneath it all.It is NOT simply a free choice.

At its worst, muslims cannot police their fellow muslims. There are factions from within, the threat is the extremist who feel entitled to spread, impose their culture instead of assimilating to an accomodating country. What about the feelings and sentiments of other immigrants from non muslim countries? I come from predominantly christian Philippines, and get along well with hindis, East Indians and Europeans of non muslim background. All to often it is hard to get along with muslims, they talk issues which you can only say they have that victim syndrome. No wonder it reminds me of college days that, no one jokes around these guys as they are quick to anger and they tend to band as a pack of wolves. And pretty much it was in the name of their religion that they come together. Its the victim syndrome I guess that keeps them from Fitting in the Normal.
