Just curious why so many support Canada as Americans? If you look at the spending and trade throughout the world, America and Americans have been footing the bill for a long time. What exactly is wrong with America putting America first and getting a fair deal with the rest of the world we do business with? It's our taxpayer dollars that fund this and we have been overpaying for decades now. Honest question.

Long live Tumpsky, Putin's a** licking puppet. I stand with Canada. Picking a fight with the greatest neighbor that we could ever hope to have is nuts. Sorry to disagree with PM Trudeau, but Trump is dumb af and this proves it.

Awesome speech by Tredeau, and im not a Trudeau at all. Best speech I've heard in a long while.\nAmerica got duped by Russia.... trump is on russia's side... a long time enemy. No one remembers russians as the bad guys? I do.\n They will brain wash USA for pro russian propaganda. Canada is also russias enemy.... russias knows this so they get trump in to attack canada so russia has better influence in the arctic with USA's backing.

I’m still lost at how Trump supporters rationalize this mess… like for the self proclaimed “patriots” they really know how to spit on the constitution, the sacrifices of our ancestors during the revolution all the way through the Cold War. Trump is literally alienating us in 4k from allies and slipping into Russia’s pocket. Because he wants to be a dictator, and doesn’t give a damn about America or what it stands for. His family hasn’t even been here very long in all honesty, maybe that’s why he’ll sell us out to Russia. Saying otherwise means you live in a land of delusion where facts don’t exist. FYI, ignorance won’t save anyone

Can you guys arrest that orange idiot for not adhering to the oath, serving the Americans, not the Russians??? How much more chaos and destruction needs to happen before you act??? How much more negative development, undermining social security, and bullying long term partners who stood with your soldiers in different US-initiated wars??? Serious, how much longer are you just gone wait and sit until all civilised structures that democratic countries built up together and the US internatlly in the last few decades are going be vanished? The only laughing party, who is doing nothung but just sitting and waiting for it to happen, is Putin, god damned! Wake up, act!

I sincerely apologize for the MAGA Republicans that appear to have lost their minds. Why so many people support a wannabe dictator, I do not know. Why so many people failed to vote, I do not know. I hope this does not last long. Frankly, it's already gone too far. I live in Minnesota. We as a State we deeply appreciate Canada, our neighbors to the North.

Trump is now planning to get everything from Russia and North Korea.....let's see how long his game lasts. This is outrageous

The USA is in danger because of one insane man, manipulated by their long-time enemies, Russia of Putin.

Since we here in the USA created this mess and can't seem to deal with the orange buffoon and his narcissistic nonsense, I think it is up to Canada and Mexico and Europe to try reigning him in somehow. I don't think they can succeed, but we can hope. We're barely 6 weeks into this. It's going to be a long 4 years.

Maybe he should discuss the constant duty fees and border crossing fees for anything shipped from Canada to the USA that have been constantly rising for years; fees that his very own government sets. Maybe he should talk about Canada demanding that anyone that sells anything foodwise to anyone in Canada from the USA has to have a special Safe Food For Canadians Food License or the goods being shipped will be rejected at the US owners cost, seized by the border and held in storage at the US owners cost, and destroyed and billed to the US owner. A license that no one actually needs considering other legal and ethical controls are in place to prevent unsafe foods from crossing the border, but Canada reserves the right to make us pay for one or we suffer consequences. Maybe he should discuss how they left their borders open to migrants, making it much easier for criminal migrants to get into the US. Maybe he should understand that the US has always been bleeding money to Canada on a trade level for about half a century with it getting much worse in the last decade because Canada's government are greedy. Before any of you come at me, keep in mind I work in the food ingredient industry as an order processing, logistics and customs & border crossing and have done so for 15 years. These tariffs were a long time coming and if any of you are on the inside of trade in the manner I am, then you know what I'm saying is true. The US is constantly paying additional tariffs by way of duty fees, customs fees, certain applied taxes (like there is literally a blueberry tax to ship US grown blueberries into Canada to prevent US blueberries from taking over the Canadian blueberry market). The blueberry tax is about 25cents per lb. which drives the price per lb. up for the seller and buyer. You wanna know why Food costs so much? All of the above with a huge side helping of GREED.

The Trump-Musk-Vance triumvirate is stabbing all of America’s allies, except war criminal B. Netanyahu, and supporting long-time US challenger Putin.\n\nMake sense of that. This is all destroying America’s international capacities and only growing the strength Europeans’ ennemies.
|

These tariffs will pass. But the distrust that Trump has fomented will take years to overcome, long after Trump leaves office.

It’s business. Stop crying and get used to it. It’s time the US put up with short term pain for long term gain. VAT is in effect the same as a Tariff.

Trump should be impeached for failing to act in the best interest of America. How long will we wait? Will we wait until we have bread lines and gas lines? Or maybe we will wait until there is a total economic collapse.

A better idea would be perhaps to do some introspection into why your country has relied on the USA for so long for trade and military protection. Isn't it time to work on measures to make Canada more self-reliant?
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
As an American I totally support Canada who has been our long time friend and ally.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
This is even more of a reason why the United States should not be dependent on any country. We need to build in this country. We need to manufacture in this country, but all businesses take the shortcut and go where it's cheapest and in the long run. It cost us, but this is typical Americans. Short-term game, now it's catching up.

From England admiring Canadas response. This is a time for the UK , Europe , Canada ,Mexico etc to free themselves as much as possible from the US and build stronger ties economically , militarily and diplomatically until this administration is long gone

Netherlands here: Trump HAS to impose tariffs because he promised it a zillion times during his campaign. As a major narcissist he cannot afford to say that he made a mistake, and therefor: tariffs. I predict however that this period will not last very long. Only as long as necessary to make it possible for Trump to say that they didn't work out as planned because of some reason.

This is how the leader of a nation should act. With dignity and respect for the office they hold. With strength used for their people. Hopefully the US survives long enough to see someone appropriate back in the oval office.

As a life-long Ameri an citizen, I 100% stand with Canada. \nThe idiots that voted for Trump, your orange messiah, I really hope you go broke and homeless because you're just as guilty as he is. So be proud because you voted him into office knowing how his first term was and that he is a 34 time CONVICTED felon. And YOU voted this back into office. You worship Trump like he is your messiah ,your god, your idol so when WW3 is declared against America and his little friend Putin will all be a trap to have Trump assassinated, I hope you stand around and claim this on your shoulders then because again, YOU have done this.
|

It says okay this is what the American people voted for we stand with Trump we know in the long run it'll work out fair trade that's all we want fair trade not one-sided we're tired of getting screwed the taxpayer

As a Canadian I will never travel the US again. The betrayal of a long lived friendship is disappointing and many Canadians lost their trust in US from this

I think this is the first time in History when the hegemonic power tries to exploit its long-standing allies... unbelievable...

Good riddance of Canada. The US has subsidized them for too long. Bye bye and take that pisshole Europe with you.

Why are we in a trade war with Canada? God, this is going to be a long four years.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
So I guess it is only a trade war when the US demands reciprocal tariffs? It seems like injustice to be put on an even playing field when you have not been being held to the same standards. Canada, Mexico and most other countries have had tariffs on the goods they send to the US for decades; why all of the complaints now? Isn’t it fair that the US charge tariffs if Canada and Mexico charge tariffs? Yes, it is. What the hell is Trudeau even flapping his gums about? Perhaps all aid should be taken from Canada and Mexico for being ungrateful. You ever heard of the North American Union? It’s a thing. Look it up. You will probably have the Amero in your wallet before long.

The civilised world is bigger than the USA by a long way. When we huddle, even the mighty USA is going to hurt. Hope we can co-ordinate properly.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Love it. Canada will continue to suffer as long as Trudeau and his party are at the wheel. Canada will be the big loser in this.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Canada and America should work together. Trudeau is the only one talking about a trade war. Think about that... Trump imposed reciprocal tariffs on many countries who later came to the Whitehouse and invested billions to bring business here. Canada has enjoyed the American gravy train for long enough. Just look at the comparison between how much money goes into Canada and how much of that America actually sees a return on.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Every single country has huge tariffs against our country. All Trump wants is for them to pay us the same we pay them. Why any taxpayer would be upset is against it is beyond me. Course Trudeau just said he was going to sacrifice his citizens in a forever war that is already lost. Thank God Trump will protect our citizens and just wants a even playing field. Canada has gotten away with robbing us long enough.

The American government agencies and institutions have been weakened, as well as their healthcare and educational systems. Their relationships with allies and friends, North and South, have been strained, global allies have grown skeptical of the United States, and everywhere the US has given away its soft power, a vacuum was created that will now be filled with China or Russian influence. Every enemy of the US longed for this moment, and Donald Trump and JD Vance handed them this unnecessary win. America is past the point of no return; No one will come to help and rescue their most vulnerable. From this moment on, turning this around depends on every American in opposition to tyranny, abuse, and dictatorial leadership.

Interesting. So it sounds like Canada just started last year with stopping drugs from coming over the border...remind me, how long have drugs been coming across? Bluff called, Canada, you were abusing the United States, until Trump came around...shame on you, too late. And like he said, this will be tough. But drugs stay out, child trafficking stays out.

As a Canadian who lives in (largely French-speaking) Quebec, I don't know if our gov't even NEEDS to tariff American consumer goods, the people here are already boycotting US goods and companies en masse. EVERYBODY is doing it - and the pace isn't going to recede anytime soon. Even after the Orange Turd is long gone, trust me, Canadians will remember this! The American state has proven it cannot be trusted. They have unilaterally broken the trade agreement (negotiated by the previous Donald J Chump administration) on the flimsiest of reasons, the 00.2 % of fentanyl that flows over the border into the US from Canada. That deal now obviously not worth the paper it was signed on.

Look at your children and grandchildren and weep. There will be no action on the climate crisis as long as Donald wreaks global havoc. America please look outside your chaos. Pay attention??

Trump is 78 yrs old, has no possibility to run again and is adopting a scorched earth policy dictated by his massive ego. He doesn't care what the news is as long as he's the headline. He has zero interest in the lives of ordinary Americans, his only interest is his lining his pockets and those of his close circle of family and friends. The American public is allowing this to happen.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
seems like a stupid idea to respond like this. why not instead react by removing the tariffs you already have on our country. that would end it immediately. this war was started long before trump took office. if you think were going to let you continue ripping us off then good luck with that.

From Germany: Trump wants as a benefit no taxes for companies in USA. The price for his household have to pay by duties from other countries. Drugs and so on are no real argue, he is saying only for his people at home. Now the inflation growing up all in the world and he wants to drop it, ha! Thats so silly! Or Moskau guided him.. On a long term, he shoot his country in his own knie!
|

All BS. We are in a trade deficit it with Canada. We haven’t been partners. Our leads in the past have catered and cost Americans future prosperity. Trump is equalizing the trade partnership. Stay out of American politics if you don’t live here, and if you do, try to see the long game! This is for our children, not us!

As a German, I can only say, great country. My son studied in Canada for a year. He was given such a warm welcome. Thank you. The import taxes are nonsense. Trump is using a manner that will have a long-lasting effect. I hope for the USA that in four years there will still be free elections and an opposition.
|

Brilliant speech! It would be impossible for me to listen to Trump speak for that long. Probably a minute would be my limit before my brain turned to mush.
