Why would they keep immigrants there in NY city instead of sending them to Alaska so they do something productive there? The USA should learn a bit more from Canada. I lived there and their immigration system was great because you could get a workplace from the industries that needed workers that couldn't find Canadian workers. Usually you could get a job that is heavy since most Canadians wouldn't like to work building houses or as welders or anything that is heavy-duty. And those job offers used to be located in the north provinces like prince Edward Island or newfoundland, etc etc... and become a permanent resident there in about a year or two. While in Ontario or BC you could get a PR in 5 to 10 years after graduating from college. Immigrants would go to Northern provinces for sure unless they have a big, huge, insulting budget to spend by living in the main cities like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or Calgary or Winnipeg.

At-will employment where the employer can terminate an employee for any reason at any time works in the US where jobs are abundant, salaries are high and living costs are low but it should be a criminal offense in Canada where good jobs are already so difficult to find and living costs are so high. If Canadians think an employer is within his rights to terminate an employee because of frivolous reasons, they should be okay if a God sent the entire Western civilization to eternal hell for frivolous reasons as well.

Born and raised Canadian. It was extremely odd seeing in real time all the companies flip to selling Indian products within a 6 month period and almost every low wage job being taken by indians. The worst part is I know several people coming out of highschool who simply can't find their first job because theres just zero low skill jobs left for us.

The solution is really, and I mean really simple... Become a PR first, apply from India, go through the selection process. Come to Canada with your PR and then go get your education for much cheaper at a reputable University , not some unaccredited shack that presents itself as a college. They enjoy being Canadian\n\nOne of the students said it best... becoming an International student ONLY means you can study and get an education that you deem better than the one provided to you in your own country. No university having programs open to International students can promise to find you work or make you a resident or citizen of that country. No French, or German, or Dutch University that allows you to study there has any obligations to you working or staying there.

Why can't the Canadian government take this stance? We want the Gazans to stay where they are. They should have to find peace the same way everyone else does. Treat your neighbors with respect, build your cities, not tunnels, and teach your children good morals.

As a Canadian, I do not find myself or my neighbours resenting immigrants but rather the lack of social planning (housing in particular) that is behind part of this immigration policy. Several new immigrants are leaving Canada within 5 years, finding it too expensive and hard to get ahead, estimates range up to 30%. At the same time many of these new immigrants are the hardest working and doing some of our lowest payed jobs, go in to Tim Horton’s and you will see.

Canadian here, born and bred in Toronto. Just where are you getting those housing prices for Canada $550,000 per house??! As I live very close to Toronto just to get into the housing market now you need at least $1 million Canadian. I think it down payment now is $50,000 or more. When the cost of US healthcare can bancrupt people, I think it should be a factor when considering how livable a country is. While good tapwater is common in Canadian cities, indigenous people may not have access to it it parts of Canada. I look at American laws and find they infringe on human rights we have in Canada.

As someone who was born in Canada and left, I wanted to know about some current sentiment, especially by younger people. I think you had some interesting information. I'm actually sad to hear that crime and homelessness has gotten even worse, especially in places like you mentioned, DTES. One thing I want to share with you about the housing issue. Canada acts like a Federation. Meaning that a lot of decision making is delegated to the provincial and municipal level. Yes, Canada has goals for immigration. That's a super valid goal because every developed country is going through declining birth rates. Canada wants to lessen the damage that will be felt by so many other countries like Italy, Germany, China, Japan, etc. The issue with this federated government is like you said, a disconnect between goals and readiness. However, I really feel this will never be accomplishable because of all the lobbying that occurs at the municipal level that the Federal and even Provincial level government cannot control. Yes, there may be shortages in labour to do development, but even then, I really think that lobbying and corruption is keeping adequate supply from being built. From the homeowners and the perspective of the wealthy property owners, they want to keep the valuation of housing high by keeping supply low. Why else is the municipal government keeping such archaic zoning laws? From what I could find, there has been some talk about changing this (https://bc.ctvnews.ca/b-c-to-table-housing-law-targeting-outdated-zoning-rules-1.6627260) but I struggle to see anything really being done. That's probably because of lobbying. The immigration laws set by the government had too many loopholes and flaws ultimately. I don't think we are getting enough productive immigrants. Actually, the opposite seems to occur a lot. The wealthy from the countries I mentioned are abusing the immigration policies in Canada to transfer and preserve their wealth in Canada. I think it has hid in plain sight for a long time, and people have started talked about it in the last 5-10 years because of the struggles of housing affordability from the middle class. What about the immigrants that really want to start a life in Canada and find opportunities like you said? The housing is too expensive for them to do that. Really chicken and egg problem like you mentioned. And this issue can't readily be fixed with the way Canadian government operates. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. As an Indian who was born and raised in Canada (immigrant parents from 1994), one of my favourite things about being a Canadian has been finding my own path as a citizen. I still love my culture but if I wanted to be in India, I would have just chose to move back. My parents came here to give me a better life and opportunity. I have fully embraced that. It frustrates me to no end when I see other Indians come here and disrespect the country that is giving them freedom. Canada isn’t your personal frat party to act like a public disturbance. I have proudly adjusted to Canadian culture and I associate with it more than I do India, and I always will. My parents didn’t give everything up and move here just for me to pretend I’m in India. \nI hate that I get lumped in with this mess sometimes.

I find this so distressing and alarming, we are quite literally watching Canada disappear before our very eyes. It used to be that immigrants would trickle in gradually, and people new to the country (like my own family a few generations back) would aspire to assimilate into the culture, adopt our values, and become Canadians. But these new immigrants are completely different… They want all the benefits that come from living & working in Canada, but have no interest in actually becoming Canadian. I walk around in my own city now and more than 50% of the people I pass by are speaking in foreign languages and make zero effort to learn or speak English. Indians are literally everywhere and completely dominate certain jobs and industries. This has all happened in the span of about 10 years too. I feel like an outsider in my own country, and I feel like this county has lost its identity completely ?

I am an Indian student in Canada and I can say that the government here is very corrupt. You will rarely find student over here who came here to study. Many students can't even communicate in English. It is not safe place for Hindus. The main reason of racism over here our community doesn't want to adopt their culture and not follow the rules. Canadian government brought many below average students here and that is the main reason for unemployment.

I am most certainly in the minority here, as a Canadian. There are a number of things is dislike about the USA; I hate the political climate(but the Canadian one is turning into a dumpster fire too), I dislike how separation of church and state is not existent and how in some states religious beliefs influence policy to infringe on personal rights of everyone, and health care is shit if you don’t have money or a job that traps you. \n\nBut I also love that individual states have more rights than our provinces. That means you can find a state with values that fit yours more so than finding a province. I, personally, would find a state in which I was allowed to carry tools to defend myself(Canada does not allow self defence tools at all), and I would find one that values personal autonomy. \n\nIm definitely an outlier in Canada and the USA. Let me have my guns, don’t tell women what they can do with their bodies, make sure the poor have healthcare, and leave me the hell alone. I’m neither right wing or left wing. There’s are aspects of some places in the US I love, and some overall national themes I don’t. But I wouldn’t move to any other country than the United States. I hate the bad, but I can see the good despite what our media tells us. However, the system is beginning to collapse, and the average US citizen needs to see it.

Canada is the most beautiful country in the world that’s its usp , again we Indians can learn something from Canada is the way they preserved their nature that is remarkable that gives them good oxygen rich air , water and hygiene that Indian people are far away or never witnessed in their life. Along with that Canada has strong tax system you really get tax return as well as strong labour protection act that guards its resident from exploitation and employees can sue the employer if exploitation is provable on table with facts. India doesn’t have any strong labour protection body this results even in corporate jobs you have to work more than 8 hours and no OT , plus Canada has EI (employment insurance) so that means is , if you loose your job for any reason you will get government assistance to help to pay your bills till you find your next job. Plus disability benefits , food banks , freedom to live your life the way you want, you can eat what you want, religion based stupidity doesn’t exist in that country. So yes it’s true I don’t like the Canadian PM either but overall Canada is really good country and we Indians can learn atleast some good things they carry and adapt to our country and make India bit better place to live. Get rid of those with no skills on temporary (student) and other visas. They are blatantly abusing loopholes in the system. They dont have a problem living 15 people in a house. Now, young people and students who are Canadian citizens cant find entry level work because the business owners would rather hire someone who would kill themselves to work for peanuts.

I'm a born and raised Canadian, and jobs that I was previously able to live off of 2 years ago I am now on the brink of homelessness every single month of rent. Working those same jobs everyday in the lowest rent apartment I can find. I do 10 hour shifts most days retail and spending more than 50 dollars a month on food bounces my rent and negatives my account which makes me pay more fees on top of it. I cant afford a car, or anything for transportation. The wage I'm making now was the perfect amount for me 2 years ago to live comfortably by my standards. Now I'm going to be a homeless 24 year old Canadian that works their ass off every day and can't seem to find a better paying job regardless of how much I put myself out there... In the last 2 months I have lost a total of 16lbs because I can only eat so much on my budget. I am a hard working Canadian that just wants the luxury of being able to not stress about these things because I work so hard. But that seems to not matter.

As a punjabi Canadian who's parents came here over 50 years ago. Watching international students abuse things like food banks makes my blood boil beyond belief. One of the things I've always loved most about being Canadian is our reputation for being kind, caring, polite and helpful.\n\nIndia has a very different mindset, it's much more cutthroat and people are taught to find and abuse any and every advantage they can. When I was younger it was always really fun watching new families come here because the difference in mindset was so refreshing to them and it wasn't uncommon for them to want to very enthusiastically be a part of it.\n\nNow I see families come from India and they seem almost offended by the idea of wanting to contribute or help improve the communities and areas they live in. In the past they could see for themselves that mindset made things better for everyone, but because there's so much immigration now, they tend to move into areas where other new immigrants are also living and getting exploited by other slightly less recent immigrants. That cutthroat mentality is all they see and feel, everyone is looking to get something from them and give nothing back. So they do the same, and attempts to show them the things I love most about Canadians is perceived as just another hustle trying to take advantage of them.\n\nNobody is happy with this, nobody wins.

As a Canadian who was born here I don’t even recognize my home anymore. Used to be predominantly white Canadians and now its rare to find someone who was actually born here or has long lasting family here. Really sad but no one cares because white people are the enemy now. You see so much white hatred in the media and its only predominantly white countries being forced to have open immigration and borders.

I love watching these videos as a Canadian. Because Canadians are fleeing the country for mostly the same reasons. But the funny aspect is that immigrants say that they can't find work because their immigrants but Canadians also can't find work because most companies prefer immigrants, and if the government wasn't letting in so many people then the housing crisis wouldn't be as bad. So problems 2, 3, 4 and 5 are largely caused by immigrants.

You need to know that people don't study medicine in North America is because many high pay doctor positions are limited to citizens only. Can someone explain why young Canadian citizens are on unemployment insurance and can’t find jobs. My peers who’ve lived in the same city their whole life are getting jobs stolen by immigrants. How are we supposed to start a career. We’re being forced into working physically demanding jobs despite having a full Canadian education. The government is forcing girls into healthcare and men into construction.

These students think they bought citizenship when they were invited here to study. Yes it's predatory, but you can easily google Canada and find out that we have some of the highest cost of living in the world. What they fail to say here is that Canadians are struggling really hard right now and the students are taking up housing and food from charities further exacerbating this crisis. They are also rude and have no interest in speaking to anyone outside of their own culture. On top of that the men need to realize sexual harassment isn't normalized here like in India (i travelled therefor four months and was relentlessly sexual harassed and assaulted) stop being creepy to western women. As a Canadian who hasn’t completed any college or university the job market is destroyed, I can’t find any work over minimum wage and if I do I get let go for people who will take minimum wage, my old job I was making 27$ a hour they let me go and all the new people make minimum wage it’s absolutely crazy

After the 2008 crash the government placed all it's bets on immigrants and life for citizens became unbearable, causing huge numbers of Canadian millennial's and now zoomers to flee the country. Now the massive increase of immigrants has put so much strain on Canada's infrastructure that even the immigrants want to leave. I am not A Canadian I’m an American, but I interact with lots of Canadians as they find themselves coming down here for one reason to the other and I’m not near the border either. I’m quite far into the US in a major US city.\n\nThere are two types of Canadians that distinct themselves. The first group is the ones that are themselves immigrants that are naturalized. I make this distinction because many cases they have not assimilated. They still have their own culture from another country and is pointed out by the narrator people from south Asia and Asia strongly have their culture And language \n\n( Canada is good for allowing people to live in communities to cut themselves off from the main screen. The white Canadians has a euphemism. These are people who are going so far back from the British Isles for the most part and the French also speak another language who have no connection to Europe. The English-speaking Canadians who are you from white could walk down or come down to the US and fit right in in a matter of weeks if they’re not already assimilated into the US Culture ( I hope I don’t see any fireworks start coming from this comment) Many of these white Canadians are now more economically disadvantage than the newer Asian and south Asian immigrants and find themselves often times competing for resources with these newer immigrants. It’s almost like they went to a finishing school or a low level class in diplomacy and public speaking many of these people come off like human resource people in the US because their culture is one of accommodation and consideration for other people they know how to be mindful of other people and these are great qualities\n\nYes, the Canadian government is messing up right now and they’re gonna wind up, ruining the social cohesion of their country if they have any and also wasting their human capital
