New immigrants brings billions of dollars to Canada from their home country every year, fuel the Canadian economy, and many of them end up either leaving or living miserably. Canadian immigration has become a money making scheme for Canada.

I knew a few immigrants who actually went to jail in Canada, because they ended broke and didn't have enough money to leave Canada.

The same thing is happening in Australia. Bring in hundreds of thousands of immigrants, don't built enough houses and then wonder why our young people are being forced out of the housing market. Our health care system is becoming overwhelmed. I believe that Australia and Canada are now in a massive Ponzi scheme and it'll end in tears.

Come to Singapore. Immigrant kept coming to Singapore and not many leaving.\nTransportation is convenient. Housing is cheap. Food is cheap. Salary is high. Hawker center, shops are nearby the housing estates. Healthcare is good but need to pay. Weather is not cold but warm. Singapore is safe. No homeless people here, if there is, they will end up in police station. Welcome to Singapore. 1: Canada accepts more immigrants than it needs and this causes pressure in employment between locals and new immigrants.\n2: Canada accepts white collar immigrants that does not need and they end up disappointed and working at menial jobs and complaining.\n3. Canada purposely using immigrants to support Canada Pension Plan and if immigrants leave before retirement, its a win-win for Canada since they wont incur healthcare costs at retirement so its better for them to leave so Canada can harvest new immigrants.

When you allow people to come in that are not vetted, you end up with many social, criminal, contribution related issues, and fundamental society value consequences.\n\nHere is the reality... We were already in a housing crisis before Trudeau brought over those 80,000 refugees/immigrants, then we had all those who jumped our border from the US because Trudeau invited them to come to Canada. All that on top of our usual amount of immigrants that come in every year.\nIn the end we should have a MAXIMUM cap on the total # of refugees/immigrants that can enter the country per year no matter how/why they want to enter, and we should require all of them to have skills/trades/etc that we actually need. Why should we be bringing in people who can't/won't work? I know that the UK brought in refugees over 50 years ago that the majority of are STILL on welfare and the majority of their kids are on welfare too.\n\nI think Trudeau has spent more on refugees/immigrants then he has spent on our own homeless people, veterans and mental health care combined.

Diversity is a threat to Canadian culture and social cohesion. Immigration makes such issues worse, plus it adds to the nation's carbon footprint, congestion on the roads, strains in healthcare and food insecurity. And then there is housing. End immigration entirely until these problems are solved.

My neighborhood had a big influx of immigrants moving in and I can see the difference they brought, they never cut grass, leave garbage out on lawn, they use the creeks as their own waste dump they give off looks at you like you're a problem in your own country, they stare in a very creepy manor at women, I had one stand at the end of my driveway and film my house, like just weird shit all the time. Not to mention there always seems to be like 12 of them living in a basment apartment, half probably cant speak english or even have a legit reason to be in Canada, then you see them bagging for money and its like why are they even here if you cant afford to live here? \nImmigration at this point is an insult to Canadians and to the ones who legally immigrated and wanted to be apart of canadian culture.

The poll suggests Canadians are extremely propagandized because immigration is not negatively causing housing crisis. You know why? Because there are entire buidings sitting empty, blocks of buildings in gentrified cities that could easily be converted into residential homes. Bad weather...extreme cold, severe depression. Zero socializing, crazy inflation. I think the system was designed intentionally to empty immigrants pockets and then push them out. Sell Canadian Dream, bring as much immigrants as possible. 1) Toronto is poor value. Getting housing of any kind (buying or renting) is stupidly expensive. And the quality you get for the price is lousy. Especially the newer builds, which are just thrown up as quickly as possible and sold to investors. Policy measures generally all seem to serve to just inflate the price of housing further. The occasional lip service given to affordability is amusing, but ultimately sad. There are lots of people who really do not want the housing bubble to pop. They will fight against it with all they have.\n\n2) It has become kind of boring. There is lots to do if you have money, but it’s harder to find entertainment on a budget. Even the free stuff like parks are filling up. Stuff like sporting events, eating out, going out is very costly across the board. Even the “cheaper” stuff is expensive. It seems like a lot of local culture is disappearing. Even the cool neighbourhoods are filling up with the same chains. I think the high commercial rent and bureaucracy is deflating a lot of would-be entrepreneurs. Most landowners seem to just be banking on cashing out their land for condos.\n\n3) Canada overall has a high cost of living compared to salaries. In the US you can find lower cost of living areas that still give you a real city experience. And in Europe you can be poor but still live a decent, if no frills, life. In Canada the basic necessities are all expensive. Phone bills, grocery bills, rent, insurance are through the roof. Domestic travel is expensive. And the dollar sucks if you want to travel abroad. Health care is free but good luck finding a family doctor or waiting 8 hours in the ER these days. It’s expensive to be poor, or even middle class.\n\n4) Most of the Greater Toronto Area, outside the core, is soulless suburbs with awful transit - very “American” except with worse traffic congestion. You will need a car, which is another huge cost. Row upon row of old cookie cutter suburbs with the same crappy houses. Good luck walking anywhere, and if you do you will need to walk down boring, treeless arterial roads with cars zooming past right beside you, and cross giant eight lane intersections that were never built for humans on foot. In a rainstorm or on a fall evening you have to be really careful not to be run over by aggressive drivers.\n\n5) It is hard to raise a family in an apartment here. You can do it but it’s not very easy, and also you are still kind of judged for it. Lots of young people are feeling stuck and are deferring or avoiding starting a family. Buying any type of house, even a basic townhouse, requires pledging your soul to a bank by taking a massive mortgage with eye watering debt in a volatile market. But few apartment buildings have the kind of sensible gentle density, the family unit sizes and the common amenities, like little courtyards with jungle gyms, that you might find in Europe. No one ever contemplated that anyone would ever desire to raise kids in an apartment. It’s just a cultural thing that has worked its way into how things are planned and designed.\n\n6) The transit system is ok by North American standards but awful by international standards. There are only two real subway lines, one stub line, one line that is permanently out of service after a derailment, and another line that was supposed to open a couple years ago but still has no date for opening. The subways go out of service frequently, sometimes for the dumbest reasons, and then it is a zoo of shuttle buses. The streetcars are nice but so slow. The buses are fine if you find yourself dreaming about riding a daily herky jerky rolling tin of sardines. They are building a lot of transit but it will take decades to get done.\n\n7) There is still a lot of cool multiculturalism and opportunities to experience different foods and cultures - one of the best things about Toronto. Increasingly though it seems to be losing the fun vibe of the 90s, when everyone celebrated each other’s backgrounds and was chill. It seems the immigration is not as broad based anymore and also people are importing a lot of their “old country” grievances here. The immigration system also kind of preys on people abroad by selling them a false fairy tale, so they end up dejected when they arrive and see how things really are.\n\n8) This one might be controversial but it’s kind of an ugly city. There’s nothing particularly of historical meaning or value. Some of the older neighbourhoods are kind of nice, but the last 25 years they have only built giant glass skyboxes, one after another. There aren’t the cool “missing middle” walkups like in NY, Chicago or Montreal (or even LA). There are very few buildings with much architectural character. Some of the buildings they deem “heritage” here are an embarrassment.\n\n9) For safety, honestly on this score I think Toronto is not bad. There are not too many real “ghettos” and it’s night and day compared to much of the US. With that said, there is more vagrancy and social issues these days, with tents and such. It’s very sad but the shelters are full, lots of homeless go into the libraries, parks and transit system. It does make it harder to enjoy these public amenities safely. It is nowhere close to Europe where you might let your kids run free around town. Canadian parents still helicopter their kids and the place again is not designed to really be safe for kids, in the same way as Europe.\n\n10) Finally, a bit of a double edged sword. Toronto had a lot of youthful energy - people coming here from all over. It is definitely not as sleepy as many parts of the world. With that said, it is becoming a bit of a transient place (minus the world class experiences like London or NY). If you are from elsewhere you might find it hard making and keeping friends. I’ve seen lots of people struggle because it’s is hard to build a strong social network. We have a very “shallow” culture here - people are extremely polite but not overly warm and hospitable. We treat one another kind of like neighbours - meaning we’d like to have a cordial, drama-free coexistence and otherwise kind of stick to ourselves.

Don't deceive Africans to move to Canada Infact they should acquire some funds to start a business or study to go back to Africa and move back to Africa entirely. Fix your countries in Africa stay there US and Canada ain't gravy more many African Americans are moving back To Africa as a matter off fact. In Canada u will be stuck in doing cheap labour jobs with your higher education if not security to look after your children and family in Africa. U are not a full citizen in Canada just a citizen in application and benefits but still told u are an immigrant why not go back to Africa. I'm from Asia and recently moved to Canada with my family to live a slower-paced and safer life. I've seen firsthand that the drug problem here is worse than it was back home, and they're being coddled with no plans to discipline or rehabilitate them. I asked my friends how I could defend myself and my family if a random drug addict broke into our house and stole our belongings; could I at least beat that person up until the police arrived? They said you couldn't because you'd be charged with assault. It's funny. \n\nApart from the crimes and exorbitant living costs despite living in a rural area, even Canadians who have lived in the country since birth are struggling to make ends meet. \n\nSome positive comments, Canada provided me with a work-life balance that was not possible in Asia due to the competitive nature of the corporate world. So I had time to spend with my family, and you don't have to travel abroad to see beautiful scenery. Canadians are also very accommodating and friendly, in contrast to where I came from, where people will not help unless it benefits them as well. The Canadians here are extremely friendly. So Canada is great because of its people, but I can tell you that the government consistently makes bad decisions about how to solve certain problems, such as drugs and harm reduction strategies. Another issue is that they do not recognize internationally trained professionals, which could have helped alleviate healthcare issues in our area, where we have many internationally trained nurses from the Philippines working as restaurant servers and janitors. We have doctors from Kenya who have to work as general laborers and in other odd jobs where they can use their profession and experience to help people. I am also an immigrant, but the government should strategically distribute us based on our qualifications. I chose a rural area because I don't want to add to the number of immigrants in big cities and instead want to contribute to the local economy by bringing my skills and experience to the pool. \n\nCanada is a wonderful country, and I continue to believe so, but the government must reward and do more for its people who are trying their best to make this country great.

If I can afford a home, why would I want to leave? The housing crisis is a big deal for many. You can't find suitable rental in the GTA when you make well over 120k cad a year. It's not just the barriers in professions. It's the lies about prosperity and growth fed to the immigrants. You just need to work hard, and you'll live your dream is a lie. Immigrants end up eating from their savings instead of saving. Fix the housing crisis, invest in public education and health, and no will will want to leave this beautiful country. The more you earn, the more you are taxed and if you are a single earner in your family, you're punished for it. I don't want to go out and work and leave my kids in daycare when my husbad is doing a good job. I don't want my kids being raised by strangers while me and my husband struggle to maintain a decent lifestyle. When 120k isn't enough for a family of 5, it's time to leave.

I teach ESL so I talk with a lot of newcomers and immigrants as part of my job. The case of one of my students sticks out in my mind. She originally came here from Ukraine because of the war. She wants to get PR status because she wants to settle here and make a life for herself and her family. She was explaining the process to me and she seemed really caught in a Catch 22. She held advanced degrees in mathematics and economics already, but in order to qualify here she would need to go back to school, which would require a different visa than the one she was here on. She was working, but at a low paying job where she was just making ends meet. So she has to decide whether to go back or stay, basically because of bureaucracy and no other reason. She was strongly considering going back home because of how expensive the cost of living is here. And I can't say I blame her. I was born here and if I had the resources, I would move. I would love to move abroad because the standard of living in most European countries is so much better.

Maybe we should put a freeze on immigration and have a royal commission inquiry to find out why. If it takes 20 years to get to the bottom of this travesty then it will be worth it in the end.

If Canada continues mirroring destructive policies of the U.S. it’s not going to end well for Canada long term. \nCanada is in worst economic shape when it comes to jobs, housing and healthcare. \nThe life is just simply not affordable and the lack of healthcare professionals, hospitals and housing is unacceptable, so is public schools and childcare. \nI’m not surprised that reverse immigration will be happening for immigrants who has been here long enough see the dramatic change and unfair immigration policies.

The government's policies are too much leaning on the left side. Cost of living is too high. Spending too much on constructions and other cash-grabbing projects that have no due dates and never end; they drive up the taxes on everything. The quality of new immigrants are also one of the major factor.

Please leave and take some with you, most of the immigrants we get are unsuited to living in a modern Western society ,they want all the benefits but do not want to contribute and end up being just a tax burden.

You've mentioned Housing, Health Care , etc.\nThe most important thing that isn't mentioned is good paying jobs.\nSure there are lots of sh!ty jobs out there. Good paying jobs are hard to find\n\nThere are lots of Canadian working two jobs already.\nAs a immigrant who wants to work 2 or sometimes 3 jobs just to make end meet.\n\nThe quality of living standard is going down such as health care, cost of living, etc.\n\nStop self congratulate how good Canada is.\nIt is not and people are seeing it for themselves on the ground have decided to leave.\nOnce they leave then they will tell their friends and so on and so on.

Why do we keep bringing more immigrants in when we can’t even feed and house our own people properly? \nClean up our own backyard first and it’s absolutely awful on the lower end of society. We help everyone else except for the Canadians that truly need it. Like me.

Lots of Canadian immigrants end goal is just to immigrate elsewhere like the US. It's easier to go from Canada to the US than it is compared to wherever they originally came from.

Hmmm not surprising Trudeau took over at the end of 2015 and Canada's Immigration Retention index placing dropped from 9th in 2016 to 15th in 2021! But of course it's the best talented ones that have something to offer that will leave and we're being overrun with less skilled ones from 3rd world countries that Trudeau lets in by the hundreds of thousands helping him turn this country into a disaster. We need to get back to less immigration and more selective with high skilled immigrants more compatible with our society like Europe, US, Commonwealth countries.

Canada is very bad now because the government invites many immigrants, before they build enough houses. The Canadian government needs to prepared well pay salaries and create enough jobs otherwise many lives will end up on the streets.

Even non-immigrants want to leave! I've worked with Indian's on work-study visa's and they ended up going back to India!

Our birth-rate is low, so we do need immigrants, that being said, housing needs to keep up and so do appreciation of foreign experience. \nSome of the Ukrainian refugees that we welcomed in NL were doctors and nurses and they really wanted to start working, but were not allowed because they were not trained in Canada. This isn't even a foreigner issue, if a doctor/nurse wanted to move to a different province there are still obstacles, which doesn't make sense to me! Sure healthcare workers from other countries should be brought up to speed on the system, but at the end of the day, they still acquired the education and work experience to do their job and can provide proof of their credentials, it should not take years to work in Canada.

Just try to be a bit more selective when it comes to immigrants. Language and employable skills should have preference. Letting everyone in that weasels over the (American!!) border is not helping, it’s adding to shortages. This government and its virtue signalling is going to be the end of what once was Canada.
