So I know several people from my childhood, still know them today, and they were brought here when they were less than 3 years old. Fast forward 25+ years and they are some of the most hard working, tax-paying, kind hearted people I know. And they just want to stay where they have always lived and worked. Who all has read the Washington Post study about how illegals are supporting the dairy industry? Who is going to work split shifts, 8 hours apart for 3-4 hours each shift, walking in hip-deep mud and cow sh_t in knee-high boots, on cow farms, away from actual cities? Where I could have had a high degree by now, I instead have been just busting my ass for peanuts. I never asked for any help from the government here even when I could have, never filed unemployment. \nAnd after all this you gonna deport me? Great fucking plan. Land of brave and opportunity ??

just deceived by a new Indian immigrant, and it feels terrible. About 10 days ago, I posted an advertisement for a parking spot rental in front of my apartment condo. I then received a call from someone who said he had just moved here from India and needed a parking spot. I explained that parking spots here are rented on a monthly basis. He said that was fine, but he wanted to first pay only for the days from October 24 to October 31, and then he would pay for the following month. I thought that was acceptable, so I agreed.However, on October 31, he didn’t make the payment as expected. When I asked, he said he would pay on November 1. The next day, when I hadn’t received the payment, I followed up, and he promised to pay the following morning. By noon on November 2, I still hadn’t received the payment, so I messaged him again, but he didn’t respond. It was only later in the evening when he finally replied, saying he no longer needed the parking spot and that I could rent it to someone else. Then i asked how to deal with the rest of the payment of these days for the parking he already used, no reply anymore. At that moment, I really felt deceived. Why so much like getting smart with others?

How many part-time jobs do they expect these people to work to pay for rent? Finding a full-time job is almost impossible. Coming to Canada exspecting the country to look after them? Removing the LTB and changing tenancy laws to a free marketplace will open the floodgate, and everyone will want to become a landlord. Now, no one wants to, and this is what drives rental prices up. You have reduced supply due to harsh rules. If a tenant does not pay rent, they should be arrested for theft. Now, with the current laws, a 1 year lease means a lifetime lease. Who wants to rent for life? Who the hell is the government determining rental increase rates at 2% when inflation was at 7-10%? \nI can get a 1 year lease, and that agreement should be honored, but after that, it should be a free market. \n\nIf a landlord were to charge double, would anyone live there? It would have to be competitive and more people with homes would want to do it. Now most people dont want to due to the rules and this creates the shortage.

The process is not the same as it was in the 80s when they did not require renewal every couple yrs w high $ and rules to return to home country for a set amount of time risking losing your home/job/business etc. Some renewal process for green cards have sped up but still takes 6-1yr and a new green card renewal and new one for Mexico can take 1-3yrs for approval. So someone that’s been here +20yrs will have to leave everything they have built here to go wait quite a long time. Its not if you agree how they got here, its what they have done in our country since being here. They add to our economy, +80% pay taxes to never get any of those benefits and they open businesses employing people etc. If they have been here committing a list of crimes then no i don’t agree but majority of immigrants don’t do that. They are skilled migrants. Why do Canada take them in? Because they lack skilled white people to do their jobs. Also lack of population. Indians don’t do drugs and they work and earn money and contribute to the society. And for the matter of fact they don’t just come from India they are invited to Canada from India by Canadian government policies and by Canadian companies. Medical and IT professionals are given big offers to come and live in Canada. However that may not be the case for students. Students are in large numbers and they want to stay back. Too many students is a problem. Colleges just take in too many of them, because they pay the money. Bring some control over colleges and students intake. There are too many new colleges just for business and that’s not good.

No! These are supposed to be intelligent people. You do your homework before considering going to another country, especially as a student. My parents couldn't raise that kind of money to pay for me to study in another country, or even in my own country. Life isn't fair, but Canadians need priority to be housed in Canada. India has very good schools at affordable prices for Indians, and also very high prices for international students. I looked into studying in India and I couldn't afford it as an International student. India should re evaluate its priorities, before spending billions on space programs. India should also decide who it wants to be friends with. I am sure there are lots of good schools in Russia, who right now it prefers over the West.

They practically stole entry level jobs from Canadians. It's almost a joke that they're convinced that Canadians don't want to work when in reality Canadians don't want to work for wages that are exploitive. All these international students are willing to work for lower pay and live in terrible conditions. They literally devalued our economy. Seriously, return back.

I want to bring attention to the fact that when an Airline submits a Record of Employment (ROE) to Service Canada for flight crew. The hours the company puts for insurable hours is the hours per month based on the pay hours not the actual amount of hours worked. Pilots for example are usually paid based on 80 hours of flying per month, actual time in the air. However, we all know it takes a lot more work to get an airplane ready to fly. These are the Duty Hours, the actual hours worked. The Airlines do not use the Duty Hours for the Records of Employment. The rules regarding insurable hours does state that it is the actual real world hours worked or as close as possible to that number. Something needs to be done because it is not fare for a full time employee to then be given an ROE with just 80 hours of insurable hours per month when they actually could work way more than that. Please someone investigate and report on this.

In Canada, there is not enough housing and jobs are scarce, especially for anyone at the entry level or basic wage. We've been absolutely swamped. This is not the fault of the immigrants or the students, it's the fault of our extremely stupid and short sighted government. Most of those immigrants I encounter are good people, polite and considerate. But some, well I understand where the complaints about rude and inconsiderate behaviour come from, because it only takes a few bad experiences to get people angry. I've experienced it myself, but most of it (from my experience) seems to be from students who are very loud and impolite on public transit. The housing situation here is INSANE, prices are sky high and very little to choose from. A lot of seniors now can only afford to rent a room (after having worked all their lives and very little to show for it), and prices are up about 50% from only 5 years ago. The government says inflation is a fraction of what it is in real life, and living expenses have exploded. As I understand it, some people made a lot of money offering services to bring students and low wage workers in, with no consideration to the damage they were doing to all of us who were born and raised here - they wanted to make their million dollars. Another problem is that once someone arrives here, what they find is NOT what they were led to believe. What students and immigrants are told they need to live here is an absolute lie, living here in Canada has become very expensive. Many workers are severely under paid, and never even see the legal minimum wage, and the problem with that is, almost no Canadian will be hired on to those jobs - the reasons are that imported foreign workers will work below minimum wage because they are trapped here, and the Canadians already know that they will only struggle if they take jobs that pay so poorly. So yes, a lot of Canadians are VERY angry, and you really can't blame them. Once again, the Canadian government is responsible for much of this, and crooked employers who are willing to take advantage of low wage labour. It's an absolute mess.

One can argue that mass immigration from Europe change aboriginal local culture in Canada and now it is changing again due to recent mass immigration so why is this a problem now? People complaining do not acknowledge that Canada created a corrupt system where educational institution made money from foreign students, foreign student in return were happy as long as they got to work (atleast they are willing to work) for money but the moment money is taken away, they feel cheated. These foreign student are not entitle to a PR card when they knowing came to Canada as a students. In fact, we should look at the root cause of these problems. It is the colleges making money off these immigrants, it is the corporate who do not want to pay decent living wages to Canadians so they are hiring these immigrants at a minimum wages jobs. This is called capitalism where the corporate has to save as much money as possible for their share holders. So yes immigration is a huge problems but immigrant alone are not at fault. Fault lies with the government (federal, provincial and municipal) and the corporate entities in Canada as well.

No one wants to live in Canada because nothing is good about it. No one will pay you enough to live anywhere, except social housing. Why come to a country where the best thing you can do is live in a shelter?

Americans don't care because even though Canada is less than 50% white, in they minds its still a majority white nation. I live on Vancouver Island across from Vancouver. I have a beautiful apartment, just under 1000 sq.ft. with a 450 sq.ft. deck across the street from the ocean. I pay $1475 per month all included and I have a large dog. My son lives in Victoria in the top floor of a house in the beautiful Gorge neighbourhood: 1400 sq.ft., 2 bedrooms all utilities included for $1800. My sister has a 3 bedroom townhouse in Victoria, she pays $1500 per month (no utilities included). I only wish nobody wanted to live in Canada. I have seen the population here explode in recent years to the point where many people are having trouble finding housing and our infrastructures are not keeping up to the numbers. And they KEEP COMNG. PLEASE EVERYONE STOP COMING TO CANADA!!! ESPECIALLY STOP COMING TO BC! AND THAT INCLUDES ALL THE OTHER CANADIANS WHO KEEP MOVING TO BC. STAY HOME!!
