An indian colleague advised me to move from Australia to Canada before I'm 35 so I can eligible to apply for permanent residency. I entertained the idea for a few months, ultimately deciding to stay put in Australia. Home's the best. Grass is not always greener on the other side.

The culture of those who created residential schools what culture of values is that culture? Was it not that Natives of this land forced off the land, forced into schools taken away from the parents? What happened to treaty rights? We were welcomed here. We did not invade. We did not force our culture on to others. True many immigrants have come is this the fault of those who choose to have pets and no babies? is it the fault of governments promoting smaller house holds in which no parents live with the childern to help raise grandchildren due to expences. It was the coroporations that made the split of family here. This is also causing Indians of older generations to leave the parents, to live a free lifestyle. who will rasie the children? and who will help the parents when they are too old? 100 years back Christians had the same culture of Indians. Parents, grandparents and babis lived in the same household helping one another. Less cars, less insurance, spliting the costs, no baby sitting fees, no old age homes. Know even in India adopting the west coroporate culture have old folks homes. The media and TV in bed with coroporations have made people selfish that they will not stay together. Indians are in the same postion as whites. The older gen is left to fend for them selves, in the coming gen who will baby sit the kids, they to will get pets, it will be too expensive for them to have kids.

Most of what was reported here is true but the housing market and rents have skyrocketed all over the world since the Chinese government F'd everyone with Covid-19. At first there were supply chain issues with all goods so businesses said we have to increase prices. Once supply issues were back to pre-Covid-19 levels businesses did not & will not lower their prices on goods because , we as a society do not take matters into our own hands and boycott products\\company's etc. Now obviously we cannot boycott all goods & services but the majority we could and that is the only thing that would cause action among companies to lower bank fees, fast food prices, grocery prices, cell plan costs etc.\n\nWith that said, you picked two of the highest and most sought after city's in CAN to rent & or try to buy a home. Although rent & home prices have really jumped all over the world in the past 3-4 years, more affordable (still not cheap) housing, compared to Toronto, Vancouver, can be found all across CAN. My sister & brother in law found an apartment to rent in Winnipeg without any difficulty or waiting. \nThey are immigrants and entered on her student Visa & he is a computer programmer. They are not struggling to eat but they have to follow a tight budget since she cannot work but 20 hours a week as a student and they have 1 kid, a car payment,utilities, cell plan, etc. They have filed for their PR and I suspect they will be approved since his job is in demand and she will graduate from College there in 4 months or so.\n\nOne thing I noticed, when my wife & I went up to get them settled in, is that the government (national & local) taxes you all pay out of the wazzoo on everything! I think the only thing that wasn't taxed was air. ? I know most of this is due to the healthcare system, because the money has to come from somewhere. Don't misunderstand, I like the CAN healthcare system better than the US's, because the insurance companies stick it to us as well, but both have their pluses and minuses.\n\nCAN does have a much easier system for immigration. If my sister & bro in law could have come here we would have been glad for them to stay with us and help them get started but the backlog is just so long to wait (10 + years). I also LOVE CAN because you uphold your laws and DEPORT illegal immigrants instead of letting them pour into the Country, by the millions each year, and the majority eventually trickle into the population illegally, who get jobs & pay no taxes (other than sales tax) no driver's licenses or vehicle insurance and get 100% free medical and hospital care anytime while legal US citizen's pay high premiums, into social security and their income taxes each year.

I'm a Canadian citizen with permanent residence in the states. You're delusional of you think it's any better here. I'd rather be in Canada where I don't go into debt for breaking my leg, because the housing and other things the video is saying is just as bad here.\n\nAlso think it's weird that the video starts with immigrants are leaving Canada but then immediately blames them for the rising housing market? You are correct. This is not NEW information. This has been happening, but some deportee’s have not been telling the family back home really what happened, why he returned. Canada and other countries, they are aware of many things. They are in touch and watch your videos and other videos by others. They watch you and other YouTubers, so they have been ahead on many! Ultimately if you don't like the conditions where you live, we all have 2 feet that we can use to walk away and leave an expensive city (or country). There are far, far cheaper places to live in North America (see nearly any Latin American country and most South American countries). You vote with your feet: literally just leave and move to a cheaper cost of living area. It's baffling how expensive homes in Vancouver are, yet they cost 20% as much if you move to a rural place in Manitoba or Saskatchewan. \n\nYou actually don't have to continue pay high prices; only if you choose to not act and stay in your current expensive city.

You my friend are misleading about why houses are not built. Councils do not care about the value of homes. They care about the living standards. Why should we want to be crammed in ever more denser areas. People do not need to come to Canada they need to stay home and fix their country of origin.

Thank you for this story, Harrison. We have lived in Brampton for 17 years and no longer like it. The only reason we are staying right now is because our son is taking a three year college course and has only just about completed one year. Another related topic that you covered was about the high cost of rents and the ridiculous rental situations - many of them in Brampton. He is saving money living at home right now. Another big problem is that we don't have the infrastructure for all these people. My son routinely stands up most of the way to school or can't get on a bus because it's full.

Sounds like a lot of angry bottom of the barrel folks upset that they couldnt make it in life. Dont envy another communities success, when you dont have your priorities set. Indians are smart, they live in multi generational homes, kids stay home until 25-30 save to buy properties, keep grandparents with them to save on day care, work hard and have the drive. Every would-be student who thinks Canada is a better country to live better think 500 times, not just twice. In 2024, if you moved to Canada, you will not only be living in poverty for decades. Stay away. 20, 30 years ago I would have said the opposite but not anymore. Canada's population increased by 1 million people in 2023. Hardly an indicator that life is substandard there. The new immigration to Canada only for free education and free school and Social help while staying at home. There is less then 10% os immigrant «investors» who’s bringing money to invest it here. A lot of low salary jobs and extremely hard to get a higher payed jobs.

I still remember, I was working in a hotel as a front desk employee,\nFew refugees were staying in a hotel for free, which 1 room costs around $150 per night during 2018.\n\nAfter a few months, they got a home, I personally did shuttle and dropped them off on their new home,\n\nThey had Couches, 3 bedrooms, TV, and microwave all the basic electronics which are needed for a daily basis for free.\n\nAnd again, after 3 or 4 months, I saw him in a parking lot with having BMW owned by him.\n\nI was so disappointed that I was working 16 to 18 hours a day and barely afford to live in sharing places,\n\nAnd these guys never paid taxes, got homes and money from the government. ???

I'm a canadian in my late 20s and now I can't even afford a home. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against all the people that have came here, but there has been too many in too short of a time period. The government should've propped up the infrastructure to accommodate these immigrants before initiating this plan of overimmigration. Sure you are giving us a first time home buyer credit and only allowing individuals with a PR to purchase a home, but there is still an underlying issue of how born and raised citizens are now struggling. I cannot imagine how much worse it is for those who are coming here for an education. Not to include the lack of jobs, it is a tough job market out there as well, I may have to move to the US to have a professional career, which is not ideal because I want to stay in Canada.

This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. The main problem is once you go through the long process of getting a college degree (computer science in my case and 3 years of help desk experience), I don’t get more calls, I don’t get interviews and I get the anxiety that comes with seeing everything getting more expensive, bills pilling up and no income entering the account. It’s dreadful, to see everywhere that computer science is in demand and you have to sleep scared shitless of going homeless. I don’t know if it’s because I’m Hispanic, my skin tone something in the water. I’m not staying in Canada. I’ve been living in Canada for 30 years. Now I’m leaving Canada for an Hispanic Country. In Canada homes are not affordable, I don’t get jobs opportunities even thou the market is statistically healthy, and everything is getting more, and more expensive.

This is very true. I am an Austrian citizen that tried to immigrate into Canada from 2021-2023, I worked my ass off, working 2 jobs for most of my stay and living as cheaply as possible. I still burned through all my savings and a significant amount of money my family sent me to help out. I had an accident and waited for hours for an ambulance to show up, they transported me to a different city because in this town none of the two hospitals had a fucking X-Ray machine. Then the next morning the hospital in the other city kicked me out again, with a fucked up back, because there were no beds available. Had to call my neighbours to come pick me up again (thank you Tracy, love you) because I couldn't get home anymore. Lost one of my jobs thanks to this and started a different one, couldn't afford live in BC anymore and moved to Winnipeg because I heard live there is cheaper. It is, but not significantly so, but you pay for this by living in terrible conditions. Rent was still high, salary was shit, the public transport system is.... Existent but not reliable and the city is so incredibly dirty. There's garbage everywhere. Between my apartment and the nearest dollar store was one garbage can and that was a 20-30 minute walk, here in Vienna there's garbage cans everywhere and thanks to them the city is cleaner. \n\nAnyways, I gave up on moving to Canada and came home. Still dealing with my fucked up back (though it's getting better thanks to Physio and a good doctor) and the debt I accrued in the last few years. But my apartment costs less than half for the same size, my job earns me significantly more money, my phone plan is better and costs less than half and the food is both much much cheaper and much much better. \n\nI am happy with life now. Thank you Canada for showing me how bad even other parts of the developed world are, I really learned to appreciate Austria while I was away.

Stay out of this place its trash. Unless you are a millionaire you will be poor no matter what. And if u are a millionaire you wont be for long. The taxes are crazy, the cost of living is crazy. You will never own a home unless you are very very rich, the weather is horrible, if thats not enough for you all the above problems are getting worst by the day. Im an engineer making 130-140k a year and couldnt afford a house in even the cheaper cities such as halifax... toronto or vancouver? Forget about it. I forgot to mention the healthcare, people are dying in waiting rooms and from cancers that could be treated if detected early, but they are often stage 4 before even being diagnosed. Why did you leave India in the first place? It is given that anybody taking the big step to immigrate from their homeland has to have very solid reasons. Indians immigrate because of economic reasons only. They have economically miserable lives in India. They are unhappy because of economic hardships and see a gloomy future for themselves and their children. But they are stupid to think that they can live in a foreign land without socially integrating with the society. They try to remain Indian in a non- Indian land. So what do you expect. They get frustrated and long to get back home. I say this to all Indians and Pakistanis. You people are too clannish. Stay home and don’t dilute host nation’s culture with yours.

I was homeless. I stayed far in the bush. Then had a home for about 8 yrs then covid and evicted so they could triple the rent. Thankfully i had a suv. I parked at or near truck stops. Safer and access to showers. Ended up driving 500 miles away and starting a new life

Why ask immigrants to come here and then blame them for stealing jobs? We never were 10 people staying in a basement back home and had better living conditions. It is the government that has to be blamed for such a situation. We are as helpless as the canadians here. Imagine moving to a new country in your 30 plus putting all your money into immigration and not finding job/home. Instead of this blame game, we should fight together against the government who failed both immigrants and Canadians.

The dude complaining about the volunteers for social services work getting paid is redic. This is work and to maintain it getting done consistently and as often as needed you need to pay peers or employees for their time and work. Yes some people will hold to volunteer work, I do volunteer work myself. But if you're volunteering you're more likely to call out for silly reasons or not work as hard and then you end up short staffed and people not getting the help they need. I have worked in these encampments, got paid, but provided the camps with harm reduction supplies, food & water, and toiletries as well as helping people call Central Intake and references to medical support. That is still work, I would usually walk about 10km a day with a heavy bag on my back and I'm poor disabled person myself. \n\nAs well as addressing unhoused folks using substances, would you want to go to detox while not having a home? It feels absolutely horrible and getting sober when you don't have a bed to shower in, a toilet to use, a shower to clean yourself up in, is really f*cking hard. A lot of people start using substances like meth to help them survive as well, needing it to stay up at night so you don't get attacked at night sleeping. Don't shame substance use, but especially substance use with the unhoused.

Take it easy kid. It is not end of the world. See how many lazy people staying in poor homes and relying on giv benefits to live. We do need fresh new immigrants to work to pay tax to feed those lazy shit.
