Canada took in 40,000 walk across the border illegal migrants last year, this year the word is out we are expecting at least 50,000, don't know where there going to stay our hotels are full, don't know where they are going to work the job market is full, Quebec does not want any more and thats not counting the legal immigrants coming into the country. What a great show. I wish there was a black celebration centre in every big city in Canada. It's wonderful to share this information with my children although it is not enough. Also, Jamaican restaurants are always empty in BC. I always wonder why the food is so good and the restaurants are empty. The chairs need to be comfortable and I like it when there is already a table or two of people (it's like a testimonial without words...) You could perhaps let a table of people eat for free if they stay there all day - it would help.

15 years in the U.S. and I didn't hear him speak one word of English. Also, how do you prove you're 'endangered' - that you'd be persecuted if you return? Lots of people die in El Salvador every day for various reasons. So, can anyone in El Salvador come to Canada?

I would venture to suggest that part of the problem is one of language barrier? He's been in the US for 15 years and he's been in Canada for 2, and even now, he doesn't speak or understand a word of English! If he desires to live in Quebec later, he will also need to speak French? He really won't go far in any English/French language country, if, after all that time, he hasn't mastered the most basic terms in anything but Spanish!

One of my co workers who were Mexican , said they they .ight .over to Canada is bad. I told regardless of what the candian President days immigration is tough. I understsnd of what latinos and other South America people are going through, it's rifled with strife, violence, drugs, cartels, traffking drugs, human, and whoring. Just because JT presented Canada as a welcoming place for immigrants, which for the most part it is, doesn't mean if you enter the country through means deemed unlawful that you won't have to go through the process. Canada has done extremely well for Immigrants, and we spend a lot of money on making sure we get hard working decent citizens.. We've recently made it easier for people to immigrate here. We welcome it. But it does have to be done legally. And yes, I agree with everyone else here. 15 years in English countries, and doesn't speak it himself is disgusting. I bet he'd learn the word food fast if he was starving. Also, those kids need to be in school. I hope he's not hiding them too cause they'll never learn English then.

Am I suppose to feel sorry for this guy? How long did he live in the states? Then tries to move to Canada. The only English I heard from him was two words at the end. If I want to move to France I learn French. Russia, Russian. America, English. Canada, English or French. What good is he doing for either country? No sympathy from me and I'm married to a Mexican.

The devil is in the details. People need to actually research before making a big decision to cross the border in attempt for asylum..Don't rely on word of mouth. What, did he think he would be given a free ride? Does he actually think immigrating to a new country wasn't going to cost him anything? How many years did he live in the US? And now, in Canada for the last 10+ months, yet he can't speak a fucking word of English? \n\nNow he complains that the process is taking too long, yet, had he immigrated legally (as he should have), it would have taken FAR longer and would have to spend that time inside his home country...\n\nI really don't get his attitude, he feels as though he's entitled to immigrate to the US, even though he made absolutely no effort in doing so legally, made absolutely no effort into learning the most widely spoken language on Earth, so he became a criminal by illegally crossing the border and living in the US for years... Then, when he's about to get busted and deported back to his home country, he pulls the exact same thing, illegally crosses the border into Canada, taking the money he's stolen from the US with him, while STILL unable to speak either official languages in Canada where speaking Spanish is about as useful as a condom in a lesbian orgy, nor making any effort into actually learning said languages, and tries to claim refugee status? Refugee status for what? He's not fleeing any war or conflict, the only thing he's fleeing is deportation to his home country from the US because he crossed the border into the US and lived there ILLEGALLY, he's a fucking criminal... It is unfair to judge islam by the actions or words of a few . This is why i don't listen to the 0.004% of the worlds muslims that are in canada while there are about 25% outside canada that embrace armed jihad or condone terrorism for allah cause. \n If 300,000,000 muslims want me dead , I'll take their word for it and not listen to the 600,000 muslims in canada that claim that the 300 million have it all wrong because they have the real quran which teach peace . \n\n They all have the same quran that orders them to make the World a Caliphate ruled by sharia law. My experience in Canada has been largely positive, with only minimal racial difficulties.  As a teenager, I do recall some kids making blatantly racist comments, when I was the only minority in the room; but they were silly girls, popular and full of themselves, and most of the students who heard did not laugh with them. We all knew it was wrong.  Another time I was told, by an agent, that a potential employer claimed she would not hire me because of my race.  I did not hear these words firsthand, though, so it was impossible for me to verify the truth. In the end, I let the matter alone. Other people,  I realize, have endured severe injustices; such have not been my experience, but this does not subtract from their reality.  Indeed, racism does exist, and shall remain as long as there are imbeciles wallowing in the mire of ignorance, people who cling to an absurd sense of superiority for lack of something more meaningful to hold.  As well--and it must be said!--quite likely, we all have, at some point, entertained discriminatory thoughts. 'Tis not a 'black and white' problem but a human one, and we must be mindful of it beginning with ourselves.  Canada, then, with its many inhabitants and complex history, will never be the exception. We can't expect perfection among people, here or anywhere else in the world.  Even so,  I believe there are enough fellow Canadians who strive to treat people as individuals and are happy to make friends across cultures.  My life has been and continues to be a testament to that!  Whatever our troubles, we still retain a proud heritage of diversity and progressive ethnic harmony.  We do try, and for this reason I love my country.  I am deeply patriotic and immensely proud to be part of it!
