Landlords do not want to rent their places because of stories like this and THAT is why there is a shortage of rental housing in Canada! Why would any landlord want to put themselves in such a vulnerable position, potentially not getting rent and in turn not being able to cover their OWN mortgage. Does the bank let people not pay their mortgage for a year?! No! I know so many people who have empty suites that they won’t rent out because they are worried about tenants not leaving when it isn’t working out or when they want their space back etc. It’s so frustrating as an owner and parent of kids who are getting older and who are looking for rentals. If the tenancy board can’t do their job then get rid of them and hire new people who can.

I think all things are possible when you are young and healthy. As someone with an unexpected chronic disease that showed up in my 40s I'm on immunosuppressants that are very costly. Thank God the gov't here covers them. With treatments every 6 weeks I have no freedom to leave. While that's taken care of, access to a family doctor or emergency care is horrible. Waiting a month for a doctors appt or having to spend 10 hours in emergency is not okay in a developed country.\n As a citizen you have Canada as a safety net, so its no big deal if you move and don't like it. The real problem is the dishonest people and frudulent rate sky rocketed.\n\nInternational student program was announced by conservative party in 2008 for international students to obtain a work visa that could potentially lead to pr.\nDuring 2008~2015 there was virtually 0 problems in immagrations with an EASY requirements with just 1 year work experience and finished college/university.\n\nThe student came here just to work problem we have at the moment doesn't make any sense math wise.\n\nAn actual college will charge 22k$ per year as a cheap cheap cheap option, university starts from 40k$ and goes up from there, on top of that the student need to purchase an GIC program at a Canadian bank with 10~15k$ and maybe also a meal plan in school BEFORE they even arrives.\nby adding up the cost, the person will spend 100~300k$ withing the first 2~4 years WITHOUT having any properties in the end, doing cash jobs will NOT even cover up the cost.

The basic reasons i think, working conditions❤ as in India where a patient doesnt get a bed & complete hospital facility which everyone deserves, whereas in canada even a truck driver gets full support from their govt whether it's salary or insurance covers... ?

Tenants done pay rent, Landlord is terrified and leaves Investment property vacant. Govt charges vacant tax. Landlord hikes rent to cover interest and past dues, tenant stops paying again. Govt collects tax from both.

I don't believe this one bit that 13000 migrants from Canada entered the US. My country Canada is a better country to live in than US. With everything that is going on in the US, not many people wants to go live in the US. People living in Canada have a Health Insurance Plans covered by the government.
