The American media is just catching up. The Canadians have been planning since December after his first comment about the 51st date. To reject Americans who have voted for him and their states of products. This is just an extension of what the people are demanding from their political officials up therereally don’t know much about anything outside of America. Do we it’s because of the kind of media we have and now it’s completely tilted.

So what some people think it’s ok for Canada to have tarrifs on US products. Then when we put tariffs on their products we’re the bad guys B S.

Is Canada going to remove the tarrifs they have always had on US products?

A bottle of fucking 409 is $9 rn. I know this has nothing to do with Canada, but ffs, when did basic cleaning products get that expensive. 409 used to be like $3-4 a bottle. Trumpflation has really fucked our country up.

Let me explain the trading relationship briefly that occurs between Canada and the US for context. \n \nCanada Has a LOT of natural resources, more than our domestic manufacturing base needs (Uranium fuel, Lumber/paper products, Steel and other metals, Fertilizer for farms...etc). Therefore we sell those raw materials to the states where they are manufactured into goods, which we then buy back. a LOT of American service companies like tech, media (And yes, even banks)...etc also operates in Canada as well. (For the auto sector the parts flip back and forth across the border like 8 times) \n \nThis relationship alone has the American economy see a large trade surplus with Canada, however there is another element to it: Energy. \n \nCanada is also home to a LARGE amount of really cheap renewable hydro power in the east, and a LOT of oil in the west, due to a lack of infrastructure we really can only sell that oil to the states and therefore it is done at a discount. America refines this cheap oil into gas and is a large part of the reason why American gas is so cheap. They use this energy to power the same factories mentioned above. (Oh and also the NE states import a lot of that clean hydro electricity for the same reasons) \n \nThe US Buys SO MUCH of that cheap energy from us to power your industrial base, that it swings the numbers on the trade balance into a small deficit for the USA. (41 billion out of a TRILLION dollars total trade, or about -4.1% of total trade so literally a pretty small deficit) It also swing back and forth every year so \n \nThen comes Trump. He wants Canada as a 51st state and own the entire continent, therefore he manufactures an excurse that our border is leaky and that migrants and fentanyl are flowing over. (In actual case migrants and the flow of Fent is about 1% the amount that's crossing at the Mexico border but he needs an excuse) \n \nHe therefore puts 25% tariffs on us. Those tariffs will hit Canada harder than the 2008 financial crisis just for scale. \n \nOh and also for the most part American Refineries literally cant process any other oil than ours or Venezuela's because its thicker so tariffs on our oil will also really increase the priced of energy in the states by a huge amount just for the LOLs. As we've seen during the post covid recovery, since gas is priced in to the supply chain at every step (Manufacturing, transportation...etc), any increase at the pump will snowball into higher costs for everything at the store, on top of the extra cost of the tariffs on consumers. (Since every step will need to add it into their markup.)

Everything Canada has done recently was AFTER Trump did something.\n\nMeaning if they wanted to do something about it with the prior administration they could have they just decided it wasn’t worth the investment.\n\nThis guy cares more about his hair products than the average Canadian much less American.

If I really want to make sense of all this non sense, in this 'alternative truth world', I will say that, in fact, Trump is surprisingly the best advocate for sustainable development! Because, if the tariffs have the expected consequences, trade between both your countries will decrease, meaning less trucks on the roads, meaning less fossiles fuels, less production, less consumption, meaning less emissions of CO2. Is it what Trump really wants?

Canadian here. I'm gonna buy whatever my wallet can afford. If it's American made and is 5 cents cheaper, I am buying it over the Canadian product. By the way Canadians, why aren't you super upset about the 20% Carbon Tax increase that's going to hit us April 1st. We have our own issues that we need to deal with here first. As an American and stock investor, I firmly believe that Canada should just ban the export of goods, services and energy products to the US and increase their trade with other countries with the condition that trade will be unbanned once the entire GOP is removed from political power in all three branches of the US. They would be removed either willingly or not within days if not hours.

It should be interest to all Canadian businesses using rigid plastic containers (bottles, jars etc.) that ALL of the major manufacturers and distributors of these products are American owned companies operating in Canada. There are excellent Canadian operations supplying these items at better pricing in most cases.

Thinking from a supportive point of view, as a European (Dutch) as of yesterday, we should boycott US products and buy Canadian. In the meantime the European countries can define the bigger measurements. PM Trudeau, Canada, salutations!

Boycotts of American companies and products are going viral in Europe. I was shocked to see how much is actually American made from seeing the many lists that people provide.
