As a canadian, i have, as many american friends as i have canadian friends. I know very well that any educated and rational american is completely against that group of criminals that took over your beautiful country that i love so much, disguised as a political party for the time of the election. \n\nThere is either a Coup-d-etat, perpetrated by the current richest man in the world who WASN'T elected by americans, OR, a Self-Coup perpetrated by the current administration, replacing great american values and traditions with an unprecedented level racism and removing all diversity, equality and inclusion, sending the United States back to the Stone Age. Curious, what is a better solution to tariffs already imposed by Canada on the US? It's amazing that Canada's solution is to argue there is no justification...I'd ask Trudeau, what does Trump want? Is is unreasonable or not...if it is unreasonable, tell us why....because one thing about Trump, he is usually pretty darn clear about what he wants.

Nothing Trump does makes sense. He’s an utter embarrassment. He’s making our country look like a backwards, oppressive, “pile of garbage”. If any MAGA bothered to research is life back to the 70’s and 80’s they’d find Trump was NEVER good at business. He was good at running them into the ground. He hasn’t a republican cell in his body. Everything he’s doing is contrary to making America great. Ironic that there are many so-called Christians who support him, when he fits the biblical description of the Antichrist a bit too well. It’ll take decades to restore America’s standing in the world, because that narcissistic, bloated, power-hungry, piece of shit wants to keep attention centered on him. He’s doing all he can to keep us stupid, and brainwashed, because anyone who’s intelligent, and has any level of critical thinking poses a threat. When will the orange Kool aid wear off?…and btw, I’m not a liberal. I’m not a democrat. I’m rational.

I never thought I’d live long enough to watch the fall of our American democracy. And I don’t say this lightly. When we begin these ill thought out and economically foolish trade wars; when we attempt to hurt our allies and neighbors and distance our self from our Democratic partners in favor of communist Russia, how can you say that our democracy is not in jeopardy. And we now have billionaires who are not responsible to the electorate, dictating policy in order to grow their enormous wealth even more and do so unchallenged with the protection of the government, does that not look like a country that doesn’t have long . And to these Republicans, who are spineless and care more about their job, their position and their pocketbook rather than their duty to their country and the constitution, how dare you. Disgrace.

So many American companies have set-up plants in Canada in order to profit from doing business here. It's not just products that we MUTUALLY benefit from selling to each other, the US generates significant profits from its many operations in Canada, and those $Billions of dollars in profits that go back to American Investors is not included in the 'Trade Imbalance' that is a justification for the tariffs. With those profits included, I'd bet Canada is the nation with the imbalance not in its favor...

The tariff war won't last. It will get ironed out in negotiations on other matters, probably in the form of tighter border restrictions, correcting some farm goods imbalance, and increasing tariffs on Chinese imports. Trump states pretty plainly in his order that this is for purposes of leverage, not punishment. I'd wager Trudeau caves to his demands within a few weeks.

As a 60 years old french Canadian I have all the reason to not love Trudeau, because he remind me how his father treated us, never vote for him, but today I saw a men (finally) standing up and take the lead for our country. Yes Canada is still my country and I like the way he directly adress to your president. I have so many American friends on both side( D and R ) and I hope they understand that what he said is not directly apply to United State citizen, wake up America before it s to late.

Trump has sold the lie that tariffs will pay for many great things. 1-It's a direct-to-consumer tax. 2-History has proven that tariff wars are bad for all concerned. P.S. Warren Buffet recently said that if all US corporations paid taxed like his companies do, We'd have no need for income taxes. Trump works from the other end of the tunnel that Ideally no taxes for corporations, and the wealth will trickle down and bless us all.

Canada has a very important “CARD” in the table. Invite China to be your business partner and invest heavily in your country and you won’t suffer anything because China is a super power too. Just change direction, it doesn’t matter where the wealth comes as long as you are working in partnership. China China China! That is a language Trump really understand. Canada should not only retalliate with tarrifs, but should challenge the lawfullness of American tarrifs under the GATT, the USMCA and in the US courts. The tarrifs are unlawful under American law. Canadians are generally refusing to buy ANY American goods. This should continue. America: you f'd with the wrong country.
