As one married to a Ukrainian woman, I will tell you that ALL the Ukrainians that I have met are proud, hardworking, intelligent, loyal people with an ability to exist happily with accommodation and resources that would be unsatisfactory and unacceptable to most Canadians. They are an addition - not a subtraction. They can only improve the structure of this country.

The only people we should be letting into our country are refugees from western democracies that are being invaded by a sovereign nation that is bombing and murdering civilians. And so welcome Ukrainians! \n\nLet all the other people stay where they are and improve their own country before moving to ours. Ukrainians receive work permits upon arrival and no ohip, no any benefits are availableforbthem. so don't worry. imagine the stink if other refugees in Canada receive just work permit right in airport and zero other support. no shelters, no food lol. ?\nBut thank you Canadian government for letting people some temporary safe place. it's more than enough and better than being killed. but all refugees should be treated same way. aren't that be fare? love to all

Fired Canadians lack the government support too. No EI for them. No help for homeless people either, for the veterans, for overdosed people who are suffering mentally and financially....So why should we care about Ukrainians ?

Dont think Ukrainians need any more special treatment, they are already getting special treatment by opening new pathways specific to them. If they cant afford Canada, be a refugee in another country. Just like immigrants, if you cannot afford Canada go to another country.

Its been 25 days since war came to Ukraine. Every day civil people and children die under missile attacks. At the same time American companies like Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Citibank continue their operations in russia sponsoring the war and making money on the blood of innocent Ukrainians. Help us convince them to wind down any operations in Russia. I was actually turned away from the Canadian border last summer due to Covid restrictions. Of the 31 countries I've visited as an adult, the Canadian customs guy was actually the rudest and biggest jerk of anywhere I've been. Almost all the rest were boring, except Ukraine. The Ukrainian guy was the only border officer I came across who made jokes. (The Canadian guards were even jerks to the Canadians!)

Yea, but the immigrant ( all races) kids get far better grades in school, and that generation pays 30% tax every year of their 100k salary... They're the ones that gonna take this country into next century of technologically advanced world. Issue with economy starts with the family. If you have single parent family and social issues.. kids aren't gonna make it in this highly competitive world. Please go to Google, facebook, Microsoft. .. you'll see immigrants left right and centre. Lets face the facts, immigrant mentality is what builds a proper county. First generation immigrants are lost and weird and seems odd, second generation is the cream of the crop . Third slows down then 4th is basically are the ones complaining about the first generation. Solution is to use these people and figure out how they will help this county in the next 30 years, not tomorrow. Look at how Irish, Ukrainian, Chinese, Italian etc.. came as first gen immigrants (to this native land). Cold.. lost.. try to use their wits to survive in a colonial economy. That second generation built what we have now. Immigration is a god damn economical strategy man... Issue with homelessness, has nothing to do with immigration. Homelessness is related to addiction and mental health. Most immigrants don't suffer from homelessness because they have relatives that look after each other. 3rd generation+ Canadians (all races) lack that.. if you're 18 you are own your own, thats where that issue is with homelessness.

As a Canadian, I have to say that I'm very proud that we are able to take so many immigrants. Our first Prime Minister was an immigrant. Our country was built on immigration. Ask yourself who built this country? Immigrants did. But with every wave of immigration comes prejudice. Irish, Ukrainians, Polish have all seen there share of prejudice. Now its brown people from Syria that escaped with the cloths off their back. Maybe you should be thankful for what you have, that you are able to live in a country where you dont have to worry about your fundamental freedoms.
