I came to Saskatchewan Canada as an international student in fall 2023. I did a care assistant program and was attracted to coming to Canada because I kept hearing that there is a labour shortage in healthcare in Canada. However I feel like everything just started going to sh*t in 2024 when I was finishing up my program ?.\n\n One of the things I'd like to highlight about the small towns is that they can be very biased in their hiring practices. Some of us as (black) students had a hard time getting jobs in healthcare in the town because jobs were given based on family and friend linkages (so mostly white or Filipino people got hired). Also there was a severe housing shortage. So even though locals (from my perception) wanted us to stay and work in healthcare (because they are short staffed), realistically there was no where to stay. Canada can't say it wants people in more rural areas and not improve housing in those areas as well. I have honestly been rather disappointed with Canada because I expected better planning from a developed country.

The washing machine's door lock switch may need replacement but I now use some small piece of paper to fix it. These trouble makers have not intentions to assimilate into Canada's culture and are disrespectful to the Canadian government and it's citizens. Our youth are very unhappy and do not see a future for themselves yet have to work very hard and pay unbelievable high taxes. The minimum wages are only 15 bucks an hour which cannot sustain life here in this country. Please stop making false promises to foreigners to come here and be disappointed. This is not a country of milk and honey any longer but poor and enormous homelessness. Hunger, terrible health care, incredible post secondary tuitions and books. Now that president Trump has won the election he is going to place tariffs on Canadian goods and rightfully so. Russia is very interested in the Antarctica and should they or anyone invade Canada we got 3 days of ammunition. The food in AB is very bad for your health. Everything has pesticides, hormones, and by the time fruit and vegies arrive here from the US all the nutrition have gone. A extremely high cancer rate, young and old, diabetes, depression and other mental disorders are rampant. Our children and grandchildren do not have a future so why bother going to school or work. Our kids live on the streets, shelters, camping in the woods and using fentanyl and meth all kinds of dangerous drugs. The cities and small towns are full of used needles, pipes, and more paraphelia just thrown on the trails everywhere. The US will not assist Canada when a possible War 3 will occur, and we the people of Canada and the land are easy prey. If you do not believe me, just come visit RED Deer shelters and walk around on the trails, go to Vancouver but becareful because random assaults are happening every day, people living in tents, using the streets as toilets, drugs galore, even the police is unable to act nor arrest criminal activities caused by desperate people who need to survive. Canada's economy is about to collapse and fall into a recession. We have too many people coming in our country without checking their back ground and many criminals and terrorist groups are entering declaring refugee status whether it is true or not, we do not know. The people of Canada who work and pay highest taxes are used to house these newcomers and education, jobs, food and money. Our government take better care of these illegal people than their own people especially our youth. So please let us not pretend Canada is a land of opportunity and great. We have to vote for the right leader who will have a very difficult time and challenges to overcome if at all possible and make Canada Great Again!

Canada is a law abiding country and no one can fool the system. It offers study visas with a condition of returning back to home after completing the study. But many indian students are cheated by local agents with fake promises of Canadian PR, and now face deportation. It is not the fault of Canada. Already Canadian citizens including its own students suffer a lot from getting a job. Lack of jobs, house, health services increased and at the same time criminal, anti social activities like car theft, sexual abuse of female students, traffic violations, and links with anti social elements linked with international students. Brampton becomes the number one crime area in Toronto. Canadians are very well known people for their multicultural identity but they become irritated by the hostile behaviour of the international students. \nSo Canada must give priority to its own citizens and its law and order. No one can be allowed to take advantage of its liberal system.

Let's get real here, these international students do not contribute significantly at all to Canada's economy. They are a drain on food banks that locals need for survival. They are a drain on our economy because 90% of them are sending most of their paycheques back to family in India. They are taking jobs away from young Canadians trying to enter the job market while Canada's unemployment rate is high right across the country. The schools mostly are fraudulent diploma mills that are not providing any real world job skills that are useful to Canada or Canadians and 90% of Indian international students who enroll in these colleges do not even attend. They come only to work for dollars and send money back to India. Meanwhile the cost of living is extremely high due to the housing shortage caused by excessive Indian International students. It should be very clear now, Canada and Canadians want all these Indians to leave Canada and return to India as stated in the temporary resident visa. If not they will be cut off and deported also incurring a 5 to 10 year ban from Canada.

The big problem is that Canada increased immigration without having the infrastructure for them. Immigrants tend to move to major populations like Toronto, Vancouver, etc because there are typically more jobs, so these towns had their numbers increase faster than our social net could handle. Add in long-term Governmental reductions in spending on things like housing, healthcare, education with more people to service, and you end up with the housing crisis and inflation that we have.\n\nI understand why immigration was pushed; it was partially because people are collateral on the world stage. The larger your population, the more a country can borrow because you have more people to pay back those loans through taxation. It should work ... As long as you have the infrastructure to support the new citizens.\n\nImmigration needs to be dramatically reduced from current levels for a few years while we work to get up to speed for the populace we have.

To sustain social/retirement benefits Canada's birth per couple has to be 2.1, currently it is 1.26. Way below. Govt augments that by importing immigrants, without having jobs and housing to aupport the move. That's the key issue.

Yes greed. I heard some homeowners are renting their basement? Because of demands for workers (to live) it's OK. In Germany basements are for your old stuffs even If your house is brand new. In Canada, I think, everything is like gold. Even sad and lonely small towns some are renting there. Many are depressed and crazy because of loneliness and cold/ bad weather. Friends and my family will all move to Canada. We came from South Sudan and we are now in the US which promised a lot but gave only very little. Canada has much more to offer us than the US will ever give us. I’m an international student, from my perspective it seems like the government can’t keep themselves from messing with the economy, basically crippling it by regulations, making the market unable to take advantage of the increased labor supply.\n\nI have spent almost half a million in Canada, which includes tuition, living cost, and starting a business which now employs two Canadians. But because I spent one term as a part time student, I have became ineligible for PGWP, which means I have no way of staying in Canada through my own agencies.\n\nThat is a slap in the face for immigrants whove come here to settle, the fact that I have positively contributed to the Canadian economy than many Canadians ever have, while withdrawing absolutely zero from public benefits, now if I buy a house here yall will drop on me a 50%+ capital gains tax and then kick me out, why would anyone want to invest in Canada? I’m seriously considering just moving to Florida because of all these. \n\nWhat happened to the good old days when you can come here with nothing, integrate into the community, and then become Canadians? I believe it's common in other cultures to invite people who they've just met into their homes. In fact that's how they get to know people. Not so in Canada. Newcomers will sometimes be frustrated because they don't know how to meet people. The answer is to join activities or invite people to cafes. Join a sport group, or invite someone to coffee at a cafe in Canada. Each person normally pays their own bill. That's how you meet Canadians. That is how immigrants avoid being very lonely. True fact, I have a number of friends who have never seen the inside of my house or if they have, it was only from the front entrance. That's perfectly normal so new Canadians should not feel like they are not accepted.

The housing shortage is a common thread to the economic/ housing crisis! But why aren’t they building rental units??? Simple, would you build a plane if your passengers simply boarded the plane and refused to pay?? if that were to happen the offending passengers would be de-planed and arrested! \nBut when it comes to renters, they can move in, stop paying rent and it can take 6-12 months to legally evict them. As a former contractor I have been witness to landlords offering cash to tenants and squatters to leave their properties which have always been left trashed and badly damaged! The laws that protect these criminals are a joke and predatory tenants know it! I had a client who rented her condo to a lawyer and after a couple months the tenant stopped paying. She filed for a writ of possesion and waited months for the hearing. She brought all the documentation and the tenant showed up claiming they had cancer ( no documentation, letter from doctors Nothing!) The writ of possession was denied for compassionate reasons! The landlord had a mortgage and was paying the condo maintenance fees, the tribunal didn’t care! \nThey set it aside for six months. In the end cash was offered and the tenant left! After the massive clean up and damage was repaired it was put on the market! This is how far left Canada has gone! There’s simply no way forward!

Girls, I came here as an international student, I make about 150K year, I pay aournd 45% of my salary in taxes and 2500 in rent, that is unfair. My job comes from the U.S. and now I have to face impossible PR process. Canada needs reforms for sure, but think twice, this is not the only country a highly skilled immigrant can go, the world is big, stop blaming international students for everything, we came here following the rules, and we did not write those rules. To be honest, I am seriously thinking about moving somewhere else including home. I have a nice house, pool and warm weather back home.

Simply…Government overflowed the country with immigrants to lower entry-level salaries hence all the salaries have frozen and become stagnant, housing has suffered pressure by demand, entry level jobs have gone to these immigrants that will work for lower salaries cause they need to pay their studies to become PR and as always there are some immigrants that came with bad intensions which put the spotlight in those who actually came to make a life in Canada

What everyone needs in Canada right now are as follows : 1) affordable housing; 2) decent employment; 3) reliable and dependable healthcare. \n\nI agree that immigration process needs to be made harder and stricter. Choose quality over quantity. \n\nFocus on getting new immigrants only in specified fields such as a) healthcare (doctors, nurses, healthcare workers); b) trades (construction/plumbing/carpentry/electricians/farmers); c) tech (IT/AI/Robotics...) and no need to bring students to do useless courses in management/finance and other fields.\n\n\nDevelop other provinces besides Ontario/Quebec/BC/Alberta; build new townships and create jobs in these new towns; build more airports, highways, break monopoly of state owned air carriers and increase competition; ban all labor unions; decrease bureaucracy and regulations and keep it at a bare minimum; increase and improve work efficiencies

In Canada now Canadians are so angry at Indians coming here on fraudulent papers, conducting themselves like savages without any morals or standards. Turning every restaurant they work at into a biohazard public health danger. It's absolutely sick and these new Indians are majorly racist towards white people. Indians are being beat in the streets now on a daily basis. Canadians are starting to fight back and send a message. Do not come to Canada. There is no affordable housing available for anyone.! There are no doctors for the majority of the population now. Hospitals are forced to close. Many people both native Canadians and new immigrants are forced to become homeless because of an overwhelming number of Indians flooding into Canada. There will be a lot of murders over the next few years in Canada. People are desperate and only trying to survive in their own native country.

I do think it's worth pointing out that the cheap labour reduces incentives for companies to invest in increasing productivity. I think the high real estate costs might be a problem too - too much of Canada's available capital is going towards expanding housing supply and not enough on better technology - software, equipment, etc. I think part of the stagnant productivity has been due to lack of investment in technology, rather than laziness of workers. It's also worth pointing out that a lot of the workforce has been in government, which has been spending more and more money while not having much to show for it, so productivity in the government is another issue too. Bureaucracy and red tape can also be detrimental to productivity in both governments and the private sector. Maybe Canada needs more competitiveness (ex with telecommunications). Lack of training could be an other obstacle to productivity, or for example... not speaking English properly. Sometimes when I get customer service with an Indian, I have to make him repeat 5 times because of his extremely thick accent. He might not be lazy and trying his best, but still not very productive. \n\nWith slavery in the US, the South has been rather inefficient with their labour because slaves were relatively cheap (still had to feed and house them). Canada is building a tonne of housing as is, a bit less than in the past, so yes, issues with the growth of red tape, zoning, development taxes, etc should be addressed, but the problem has mainly been that the population has been growing at an exponential rate, in the past decade. The construction workforce actually doesn't have that many immigrants - around 77% are Canadian born, compared to 73% of the overall workforce, and I suspect the 23% that are immigrants are probably mostly immigrants that have been here a while, with very few temporary workers (which are mostly in retail/commercial services, elder care, and agriculture). That means immigration has been a bigger problem for increasing housing demand, compared to any benefit to increasing the supply through increasing construction workforce, especially when you consider that the size of the construction workforce is proportional to the total population, while the housing demand is more correlated to population growth. \n\nThere is also the differentiation between expanding infrastructure/housing supply, vs improving/maintaining it. It would not be a bad thing if we were able to shift some of the construction workforce towards improving our stormwater infrastructure, fixing roads, and building transit alternatives (improves quality of life), rather than just building more and more new roads and homes just to keep up with population growth (maintains quality of life).

honestly canada is a mess and i love all my immigrant friends but we just have way too many people in this country. No one can afford a house or groceries . A lot of people can’t even find jobs.

Starting around the year 2000, prices started to spike up, 25, 50, 100, 200, 300% while interest rates went to almost 0. Same with rent price increases.....crazy prices over the last 10 years....25, 50, over 100% price increases......Over 20 years of kaos. And now look at the mess you greedy government parasites, unions, bankers have created. Mass immigration, major government growth - spending – debt – control..., super low interest rates, mass immigration = crazy housing, rental prices......poor Canada, what a mess created by all you greedy governments, all political parties.....The only way housing prices get back to where they should be is a crash...bring it on.....the sooner the better.
