This may also lead to an escalated response from the US exacerbating the effect. As a Canadian - Trumps 'brilliance' has done one thing for sure, it's aligned all of the provinces against our neighbor and former ally the United States. It's done something we ourselves have had difficulty with - gaining support from Quebec. The overwhelming vast majority of Canadians don't trust the US anymore, as the legal justification for the tariffs is absolute bull, and is a pretext for Trumps actions. My family has cancelled all US travel, in my case 2 trips this year worth 15K to the US. I will miss Vegas for my 60th. We used to shop in WA State weekly; last year I spent 11K in WA State, and routinely took in shows in Seattle. No more. \n\nCan anyone please explain why Trump is screwing over Americans? Seriously.

I'm European, but I lived in Canada for a couple of months and actually got to see Trudeau speak live in Parliament. He gave a very different speech that day - a eulogy. I did not think then I would ever hear this man this very obviously pissed off. He's like one of those teachers that don't need to shout to show their students they are in big trouble. I don't know if I would vote for him if I was Canadian, but I would certainly be proud of him right now.
